The Carter mansion had never felt so alive.
Tiny baby clothes hung neatly inside the nursery, stuffed animals lined the shelves, and a beautifully crafted white crib stood beside the window.
Aurora smiled as she gently folded the last pink onesie.
“I think we’re finally ready.”
Damien walked into the nursery carrying another shopping bag.
Aurora stared at him.
“ ... What did you buy this time?”
He cleared his throat.
“Nothing important.”
She took the bag from him and peeked inside.
Three more baby blankets.
Another teddy bear.
A musical mobile.
And two tiny pairs of baby shoes.
Aurora couldn’t help laughing.
“Damien...”
“What?”
“We already have baby blankets.”
“I know.”
“We already have teddy bears.”
“I know.”
She held up the tiny shoes.
“And we definitely have shoes.”
He scratched the back of his neck.
“They were cute.”
Aurora walked over and wrapped her arms around him.
“Our daughter hasn’t even been born yet.”
“I know.”
“And you’ve already spoiled her.”
Damien smiled proudly.
“I’m just getting started.”
That evening, they attended their final prenatal appointment.
The doctor reviewed Aurora’s chart before smiling warmly.
“Everything looks perfect.”
Aurora sighed with relief.
“And the baby?”
“Healthy and very active.”
Damien reached for Aurora’s hand.
“When do you think she’ll arrive?”
The doctor chuckled.
“Any day now.”
Both Damien and Aurora exchanged excited glances.
Their daughter could arrive at any moment.
On the drive home, Damien suddenly pulled into a small ice cream shop.
Aurora looked at him in confusion.
“I thought we were going home.”
“We are.”
“Then why are we here?”
He smiled.
“Our daughter deserves one last pregnancy craving.”
Aurora laughed.
“I don’t even want ice cream.”
Damien blinked.
“You don’t?”
She smiled mischievously.
“I want spicy noodles.”
