The narrator, obviously a scientist, began describing what we were watching on the video feed.
A pair of apes, one male and one female, were in the enclosure. A fire sprinkler in the ceiling had clearly sprayed a mist just once, in only a very short burst. The scientist confirmed that only 3 ml of the biological agent had been aerosolized into the mist.
In less than a minute, both apes violently attacked each other, though not in a way that caused immediate physical harm. They were actively trying to rape each other. It took longer than it should have for them to begin sexual activity.
When another male ape was sent into the lab area, he circled the other two, then, once he was obviously affected by the biological agent, he tried to remove the male and take his turn with the female. The result was a fight between the two males, one of whom was killed. The victor was the original male ape, and he returned to the female, resuming the same savage behavior he had shown before the second male interrupted.
This time, a second female ape entered the enclosure. Like the second male, she circled the two already engaged in sexual activity. Once the second female was obviously affected by the biological agent, the two female apes demonstrated the same violent, ferocious attacks toward each other. What was strange was that the male simply moved away and waited for a victor.
The new female ape won, and just as violently as the first female, the remaining two actively engaged in savage, very rough sexual activity.
The scientist explained that if multiple males and females were present, they would fight one another until only one male and one female remained. This test had been conducted on different animal species, all with the same results. The video screen went black.
When the screen came back on, it was obviously a different lab. This time there were three male bears, two female bears, and one female lion. The same mist was sprayed in the same manner. It took less than two minutes for all three males to begin fighting among themselves. What was shocking was that the three females were also fighting among themselves, even though one was a lion and the other two were bears. It did not take long for one of the female bears to be killed, and then, to everyone’s shock, the lion killed the second bear. Not long after that, only one male bear was left alive.
What was especially disturbing was the fact that two species that do not mix and cannot crossbreed were trying very hard to prove that fact wrong. The male bear was in fact trying to impregnate the female lion, and she seemed just as intent on succeeding. The screen went black again.
