Variation on a Theme, Book 7

Summary
Since it’s been about five months since Book 6 finished, some people have asked for a summary of where things stand. I’m hoping this fills the bill, reminding people of what just happened, where we’re picking up with things, and major plotlines in progress.
This is not a true recap. That’s well beyond my ability to deliver. At this point, we’re about 800 chapters and over three million words in. It’s just a quick summary. Some plotlines may be missed, and those could matter. If you think something significant is missing, mention it in the comments and I might add it.
In the last chapter of Book 6, Steve, Jasmine, Angie, Paige, Sam, and Helen returned from the usual Marshall family vacation, arriving in Houston and settling down for the night. The trip featured Angie (and the rest of them) meeting with Sharon as well as Aunt Helen backing down from her condemnation of Angie and Paige.
Before that, while they were in New Jersey for the Amnesty International concert, Francis and Camille went to the Pacific Northwest for Andrew’s graduation. While there, Francis suffered a pulmonary embolism caused by deep vein thrombosis, forcing the Nguyen family trip to France to be delayed until winter. That opened up the possibility of summer school.
