The late afternoon sun poured through the windshield of the Mitsubishi Pajero as Kumar and Daniela waited outside the gates of the American School. Daniela had slid across the leather seat without thinking, her shoulder pressed comfortably against his, his thick arm resting casually along the seatback behind her. Over the past week, this easy closeness had become second nature to them. Neither of them questioned it anymore. It simply felt right.

They had fallen into a beautiful, exhausting rhythm. Every morning began early, with Daniela watching him play tennis with Rajesh from the sidelines, shouting sarcastic, teasing distractions that made Kumar laugh even when he blew a shot. Afterward, she would join him in the gym. She took sheer delight in torturing him, flaunting her spectacular curves in tight shorts or leggings and a tiny sports bra that left almost nothing to the imagination, “accidentally” brushing her chest or hips against him between sets. She delighted in knowing full well she only showed off like this for him. She often smiled internally thinking about how she never cared about these things before, but with Kumar ... it felt right.

Her hands would linger on his lower back during deadlifts. His fingers brushed the bare skin of her waist when he corrected her form. Soon she was openly sitting on his lap between sets, pretending to catch her breath while he tried (and failed) to hide how affected he was by the press of her full breasts and the warmth of her body.

The sauna had quickly become their private, charged ritual. Wrapped in nothing but thin towels and heavy steam, they sat side-by-side, thighs brushing, the sexual tension thick enough to choke on. It always ended the same way, Daniela leaning in, tracing lazy patterns on his chest, trying to steal a wet, heavy kiss that he would gently but firmly refuse at the last possible second. She knew he wanted her. She wasn’t blind; she saw and felt the hard, substantial evidence pressing against her heated body every single day.

But he would never take the step. He actively deflected every time she thought she had finally broken through his walls.

Sometimes, the frustration was so intense it made her blood boil. It drove her to a dark, needy place at night, where she required Sofia to slap, spank, or choke her extra hard in the bedroom just to burn off the residual sexual hysteria Kumar left her with. Surprisingly, the sweet, artistic Sofia had absolutely no qualms about abusing Daniela’s body exactly the way she craved it. The only real problem was that while Sofia’s fingers and mouth felt incredible, Daniela desperately wanted Kumar to be the one delivering the rough handling. Layla never joined their nocturnal trysts, but she would sit on the edge of the bed, watching them make love, masturbating furiously while all three of them moaned and groaned in the dark, entirely consumed by fantasies of their tutor.

Yet, during the day, that darkness melted into pure companionship. They would spend hours talking about everything and nothing - childhood memories, travel, food, dreams, and silly inside jokes. It felt as if they were desperately trying to make up for all the years they hadn’t known each other. They simply loved being in each other’s orbit.

While Kumar tutored the younger girls in the afternoons, Daniela stayed back with Latha and Isabella. She had quickly grown in awe of their deep, effortless friendship—the warmth they showed Sofia and Layla, and the quiet, matriarchal strength with which they held both households together. She found Latha and Rajesh every bit as wonderful as the girls had promised. Secretly, a quiet ache had formed in her chest; she yearned to be accepted into this family, to be thought of as Latha’s daughter as well.

Now, as the school gates began to unlock, Daniela leaned her head against Kumar’s shoulder with a soft, contented sigh. Kumar’s fingers absently traced slow, soothing circles on her bare arm. They didn’t speak of the heavy things weighing on them.

Kumar was still terrified of moving on. Emily had left deep, jagged scars he wasn’t ready to examine yet. And even if he could heal, how the hell was he supposed to choose? He liked something completely real, distinct, and intoxicating about each of them. Sofia’s gentle, artistic heart made him want to shield her from the world. Layla’s fierce, competitive fire challenged and excited him. And Daniela had rapidly become his closest confidante—the most beautiful, understanding friend he had ever known. He couldn’t pick one without losing the others, and the mere thought of causing any of them pain made his chest tighten with anxiety.

Daniela was falling just as hard, but fear sat heavy in her stomach. What if Kumar found out about her physical relationship with Sofia? What if he discovered her psychological baggage - the bad experiences with past men, her intense kinks, the way she craved rough submission? What if a man as steady as him couldn’t accept that she wanted him to have all three of them? Underneath it all lay a quiet, shameful worry that he might ultimately prefer Sofia or Layla because they were younger, untouched, and “pure.” She wanted all three girls to share him, but she was terrified he would reject the very concept ... and discard her in the process.

Neither voiced a single word of it. Instead, they simply anchored themselves in the quiet comfort of each other’s presence.

Sofia and Layla burst through the gates and ran straight to the car. Sofia climbed into the back and immediately threw her arms around Kumar’s neck, pressing a warm, sweet kiss to his cheek. “Hola bombón!”

Layla scrambled in right behind her, hugging him tightly from the other side before kissing his other cheek. “Missed you. I’m so glad to see you.”

They hugged Daniela too, full of laughter and chaotic energy. Kumar kept his composure light, only allowing the cheek kisses, though he could feel the girls’ affection growing bolder and more demanding by the day.

As Kumar pulled the Pajero into the flow of traffic, Layla leaned forward between the front seats, a wicked smirk on her lips. “You should have seen Miguel’s face today. He was glaring so hard when we ran out to the car. And Diego looked like someone kicked his puppy.”

Sofia glanced at Layla, a small, genuine frown crossing her delicate features. “Miguel’s not a good guy, chica. He’s ... possessive. The kind of guy you don’t want to cross. Please be careful.”

Layla waved it off, laughing it away. “Please. Kumar can handle him. Right, bombón?”

Kumar raised an eye in the rearview mirror, his voice calm, steady, but laced with an undeniable masculine authority. “I’m not looking for any fights, Layla. I’m here to tutor you two and enjoy the summer. That’s it.”

Layla just smirked, clearly unconvinced by his modesty but utterly delighted by his protective aura.

Daniela smiled quietly to herself in the passenger seat, watching the dynamic play out. Kumar’s legend at the school was apparently growing into an absolute myth—the mysterious, handsome foreigner who had the school’s legendary alumna Daniela and the two most beautiful senior girls running to his car like eager schoolgirls every afternoon. The girls reported the campus gossip with absolute glee.

After tutoring that afternoon, the four of them would hang out together on the terrace as usual. Layla had practically moved into Isabella’s house for the time being, unwilling to miss a single night close to Sofia and Daniela. Yasmine and Omar had already joke-complained to Isabella that their daughter seemed to have legally changed addresses.

The parents, of course, were thrilled. They saw a tight-knit, beautiful unity among the youth. Daniela and Kumar were proving to be phenomenal influences. In just a matter of days, the girls had transformed from wild, unfocused party girls into dedicated students determined to ace their SATs. Plus, they looked radiantly happy. Sofia didn’t mope over her father’s passing anymore. Layla wasn’t desperately acting out for male attention. They were a glowing, synchronized unit that seemed to orbit entirely around the quiet, steady presence of the man driving the Pajero.

Kumar, for his part, hadn’t stopped smiling or laughing since this trio entered his life. They made him feel alive again. But he wanted all of them—a taboo desire that neither their wealthy society nor conventional morality would ever sanction. Moreover, a dark expiration date loomed over his head: what would happen when the summer ended? It could all disappear like a beautiful, cruel dream.

Kumar glanced at Daniela beside him, then at the two excited, beautiful girls laughing in the rearview mirror, and felt that massive, complicated warmth settle deep in his chest.

He was in massive trouble.

And as he accelerated down the winding road, he realized he didn’t want to be saved.

The dining room had fallen into a focused hush, broken only by the steady scratch of pens against heavy paper and the occasional soft, exasperated sigh from one of the girls. Kumar sat at the head of the long mahogany table like a calm general overseeing a crucial campaign. His sleeves were rolled up past his forearms, exposing the lean muscle of his wrists, a red pen balanced deftly between his long fingers as he watched Sofia and Layla work through their packets.

Daniela stood just outside the arched doorway, half-hidden by the heavy linen drapes, her arms crossed snugly under her breasts as she watched the scene unfold. Kumar leaned over Sofia’s paper, pointing something out in that low, steady voice, and Sofia’s face lit up with sudden understanding. Layla, for once, was actually focused, biting her lip in concentration instead of trying to distract him.

As if sensing her presence, Kumar’s gaze drifted up from the vocabulary packets. His dark eyes locked onto Daniela standing in the shadow of the doorway. It was a brief, loaded look—a silent acknowledgment of the early morning heat they had shared in the gym and the suffocating tension of the sauna that still lingered between them. Daniela gave him a slow, heavy-lidded smile, watching his throat bob as he swallowed hard before deliberately forcing his attention back down to the girls’ schoolwork.

A proud, melting warmth filled her chest. He’s doing this for them, she thought, her heart aching in the best way. No expectations. No cheap games. He just ... cares.

She blew a kiss in his direction that he wouldn’t see. She wished that he would return the kiss that she now desperately wanted. She bit her lips wondering when she would be able to taste his lips on her hers.

She lingered for only a moment longer, drinking in the sight of him guiding the two younger girls with such selfless dedication, before slipping quietly away down the tiled corridor toward the kitchen. The tutoring session was in perfectly capable hands.

The moment she approached the threshold of the kitchen, the rich, deeply comforting smells wrapped around her like a physical embrace. But it was the sound that made her pause. Isabella and Latha were already talking nineteen to the dozen, their voices overlapping in a rapid, seamless mix of Spanish and English as they stood by the wide granite counter. They looked utterly, entirely comfortable in each other’s space, moving around the kitchen with a fluid synchronicity that felt almost hypnotic.

Daniela leaned against the doorframe, quietly observing them for a while. She watched the way Isabella laughed, tossing her head back, while Latha adjusted the heat on the stove with a soft, familiar chuckle. The sheer warmth exuded by both women, and the intoxicating aroma of fresh corn tortillas, bubbling melted cheese, and fragrant Indian spices, finally forced her curiosity to break the silence.

She wished her mother was here with them. She could imagine how delighted her mother would have been to bond with Latha as well as Isabella. One of her mother’s deepest regrets had been that she was not there for her lifelong friend when Tio Ricardo had passed away. She knew she spent long hours on the phone with Isabella - but nothing beat being there in person for a friend.

Now, it looked like Latha and Rajesh had stepped in to turn her beautiful Tia Bella from a wreck into this glowing woman again. She felt a rush of gratitude for this amazing couple that had not only produced Kumar but had also been her Tia Bella’s anchors when she had no one.

“Okay, I can’t take it anymore,” Daniela interrupted, stepping into the room with a bright, radiant smile. “It is completely criminal to keep whatever you two are doing a secret. What on earth is that smell? It’s making my mouth water from the hallway.”

Isabella turned her head, her face lighting up the second she spotted Daniela. “Ay, mija, perfect timing! Come here, look at what we are crafting today.”

Latha wiped her hands on a patterned dish towel, her dark eyes twinkling with an affectionate warmth that made Daniela feel instantly welcome. “We thought the girls would need something truly hearty after Kumar works their brains so hard. We’re making fusion baleadas. Indian-spiced vegetables and slow-cooked potatoes with local cheese tucked inside fresh, handmade tortillas. It was Rajesh’s idea, but we completely improved it.”

“Fusion baleadas?” Daniela moved closer, washing her hands thoroughly at the sink before joining them at the counter. She looked between the two older women, her eyes trailing over them with a slow, appreciative gleam before she lowered her voice to a playful purr. “Honestly, Tía Bella, you look far too gorgeous to have spent the morning managing half the residential real estate in Tegucigalpa. And Tía Latha, you are absolutely glowing. I’m starting to think Rajesh is legally the luckiest man on the face of the planet to have both of his favorite women looking this stunning while making him lunch.”

Isabella’s cheeks flushed a beautiful, sudden pink, and she immediately swatted Daniela’s arm with her dish towel. “Ay, qué sinvergüenza! You are absolutely terrible, Daniela. You are just as bad as the younger girls, always trying to sweet-talk your way into extra treats.”

Latha chuckled warmly, her shoulders shaking as she stepped closer to Isabella, clearly finding the bold compliment adorable. “Oh, let her speak, Isabella. She has a magnificent spirit. I like it very much. Keep the compliments coming, mija. Flirting like that keeps us old ladies feeling young.”

“Old? Please,” Daniela scoffed lightly, winking back at Latha as she took up a spot between them. “If either of you walked into a club with me tonight, the men ... and half the women ... would ignore me completely just to buy you a drink. The feminine power in this corner is suffocating.”

The kitchen filled with rich, easy feminine laughter, the sound completely washing away the rigid tension Daniela had carried all morning.

“Well, if I am going to be officially adopted into this spectacular household, I need to start earning my keep,” Daniela murmured, her tone shifting into a soft, genuine eagerness as she picked up a warm, pliable tortilla from the basket. “Show me the exact spice ratio for the filling, Tía Latha. I want to learn how to make this properly. I want to be able to recreate this for the entire family.”

Latha smiled warmly, placing her hand over Daniela’s and gently guiding her fingers to fold the edges of the tortilla perfectly. “You don’t need to perform or sweet-talk us to earn a place here, mija. Just by being exactly who you are, by bringing your warmth and your beautiful heart into our home, you are already keeping us whole.”

Isabella leaned in, placing a brief, loving kiss against Daniela’s temple, the scent of her expensive perfume mingling with the rich spices of the food. “She speaks the truth, Daniela. You belong here. Now, fold the rest of these before those two wild seniors break down the doors demanding food.”

The three of them continued to work in a beautiful, companionable harmony, moving through the remaining assembly with practiced ease. They spoke softly of the upcoming farewell party that the girls were very excited about, laughed about how much Rajesh’s posture had improved since Kumar started forcing him onto the tennis court, and remarked on the radiant happiness that had settled over both households since the summer began. Daniela felt a profound sense of peace settle deep into her bones.

The kitchen erupted into a busy flurry of activity as the final baleadas were folded, stacked high on wide ceramic platters, and carried out to the dining room.

The focused hush of the tutoring session broke the exact moment the heavy platters hit the table, the rich, smoky, and spiced aroma instantly driving the packets completely out of the girls’ minds. Layla dropped her pen with a dramatic groan of victory, throwing her arms up in the air, while Sofia carefully capped her highlighter, her eyes lighting up at the sight of the fusion treats. Kumar stood up from the head of the table, rolling his sleeves back down to his wrists, a thoroughly amused smirk playing on his lips as he watched the immediate chaos unfold.

“Alright, hold your horses,” Daniela laughed, setting the largest plate right in the center of the mahogany wood as Latha and Isabella followed her in, looking immensely pleased with themselves. “We spent the last hour sweating over a hot stove to make sure you ungrateful students didn’t starve to death.”

Layla leaned forward, sniffing the air with an exaggerated, suspicious squint before looking up at Kumar. “I don’t know, Professor ... Daniela was in the kitchen. Do you think it’s actually safe to eat, or are we risking food poisoning before the SATs?”

Kumar caught Layla’s eye, his gaze dancing with dark mischief as he looked down at the steaming platters. “Well, she was with my mother, so I’d like to think the survival rate is high,” he teased, his smooth voice dripping with irony as he turned his smirk directly toward Daniela. “But given Daniela’s usual level of focus in the gym, I’d suggest taking small, careful bites first just to test the waters.”

“Hey!” Daniela protested, throwing a crumpled napkin at him, which he caught effortlessly with one hand, laughing quietly.

Sofia chimed in, her soft voice laced with a sweet, rare giggle as she reached for a baleada. “I think we should let Kumar try it first, Layla. If the general survives the campaign, then the troops can eat safely.”

“Wow, ganging up on me? I see how it is,” Daniela huffed playfully, crossing her arms under her breasts as the entire table dissolved into bright, easy laughter, the lighthearted banter wrapping around the room like a warm blanket. Kumar took a large, deliberate bite of the fusion baleada right in front of them, nodding in deep, genuine approval, which instantly prompted Layla and Sofia to dig in with absolute glee.

As the initial rush of eating subsided into a comfortable murmur, Sofia wiped her fingers on a napkin, her posture growing slightly shy as she turned toward Kumar. A gentle, hopeful flush colored her delicate cheeks. “Kumar ... tutoring is officially over for the afternoon. I was wondering ... would you like to come over to my house and see my art studio? You promised earlier this week that you would let me show you my paintings ... and that you’d let me sketch you.”

Before Kumar could even answer, Daniela and Layla exchanged a quick, highly deliberate look across the table.

“Oh, absolutely, go,” Daniela intervened immediately, giving Sofia a warm, encouraging smile before turning a pointed look toward the older women. “Layla and I were actually just talking about how much we wanted to stay right here and spend the rest of our afternoon hanging out with Tía Latha and Tía Bella. We don’t want to crowd your studio, Sofia. You two should go enjoy the art.”

Layla nodded aggressively, wiping a crumb from her lip as she backed Daniela up without a second thought. “Yeah, completely. I want to hear more about the real estate gossip from Isabella anyway. You guys go ahead. Sofia gets her exclusive time with the professor, and we get the best company in the house.”

Isabella’s expression softened completely, her eyes shining with a sudden, deep delight as she looked at her daughter. She turned toward Kumar, her voice filled with a rare, touching pride. “You should definitely go with her, Kumar. Sofia is brilliantly talented, but she is so fiercely private about her work. She usually never wants to show her studio or her paintings to anyone. This is a very big deal.”
