Disclaimer
Tragedy of Dreibruch is the second installment in what is intended to be an Eldritch Horror trilogy. While Heir of Wolcott Manor concerned itself primarily with isolation, forbidden knowledge, and the terror of discovery, this story broadens its scope considerably. Here, the horrors of the unknown are filtered through academia, medicine, ambition, and the dangerous belief that mankind may someday master powers beyond its comprehension.
As such, this story contains depictions of violence, death, body horror, supernatural corruption, medical experimentation, Non-Human relations, eugenics, inter-species breeding, discussions of morality and religion, and moments of existential and cosmic dread. Reader discretion is advised.
The epigraphs at the beginning of each chapter continue to serve both thematic and atmospheric purposes. Many were selected not only to establish mood, but to reflect the philosophical questions explored throughout the narrative: the pursuit of knowledge, the frailty of mankind, the illusion of control, and the terrible cost of progress without wisdom. The Author has done his best to properly cite all quoted material and to operate within the understanding of Fair Use and transformative commentary.
Unlike some of the larger mythology projects, the author has attempted to keep the cast relatively focused and manageable. However, should readers desire it, a cast list and explanatory notes may be added.
