Henry sat in his study at home looking at the two letters they had picked up when they had first come to town. A lot had happened in the last month. But they were now established as a professional couple. He had led the search for a new preacher and had found one that didn’t yell and portray God as a vengeful God. His sermons weren’t full of hell and damnation. He preached in a quietly controlled voice that reached the back of the church without seeming to be yelled. His God was a forgiving, understanding God.
Henry realized that he was procrastinating, he slid the letter opener into the end of the oldest postmarked envelope.
My Dear Henry,
I hope this letter finds you and Adele well! I realize that you most likely won’t get this letter until you arrive in Lawrence. Your father has taken ill and is not expected to recover. I am also feeling poorly.
Because of these circumstances we felt that your sister should be sent to you for the foreseeable future. If I survive I will send for her and relieve you of that responsibility. I do realize that you don’t like each other, but you must take on this despite your personal animosity towards Victoria.
She should be arriving around June twentieth on the Kansas Pacific Railroad coming from Wyandotte, Kansas which is right next to Kansas City, Kansas. I’ve made arrangements for the Pinkerton Detective Agency to take care of Victoria until they confirm your arrival in Lawrence. Please send their office a message at their Kansas City, Missouri office and use the phrase “Come to daddy!” in the telegram. That will let them know that it is you and not someone else. Hopefully I will recover before then and I can get her back myself!
I hope your new law practice is successful and you have started a better life for the two of you!
Love always, your mother,
Mrs. Herman Webster
“Shit! It’s already June tenth! I better send for the girl! We can’t have the Pinkerton’s looking for us! They would know we aren’t really the Webster’s!” Henry exclaimed.
“Open the other one, maybe she recovered and the kid isn’t coming!” Adele said hopefully.
Henry opened the other envelope, the return address was to a lawyer’s office. He read the enclosed letter out loud.
Dear Mr. Webster,
It is with our greatest condolences that we must inform you of the deaths of both of your parents, Mr. And Mrs. Harry S. Webster. In accordance with their Last Will and Testaments they have been buried together side by side in the Protestant section of the Graceland Cemetery here in Chicago. They left you a sizable estate, the house and grounds are to be sold. His business has also been sold. The proceeds of these sales and the amount of money in stock, bonds and bank accounts, less our fees and the burial costs are to be split between your sister Victoria Ann and yourself. Because you were named as her guardian until she reaches the age of twenty one, please send us your bank’s information so that we can transfer the money to it. The grand total, less the aforementioned deductions, is $10,564.42! Please let us know as soon as this letter finds you!
With warmest regards,
Your servants,
William Jones,
Jones, Whiten, and Bullard Attorneys at Law

“Well that leaves us no choice, we have to send the code to the Pinkerton’s and have this girl come to us. Since it is clear that the brother and sister didn’t get along, maybe we will be a better guardian for her than her real brother! If not, I guess she might meet with a terrible accident!”
“Henry, those kinds of accidents would most certainly attract the attention of the Pinkerton’s! We can’t afford to have them poking their noses into our business! I suggest that if she won’t play ball with us, that we make her look as if she is insane and have her committed to a sanatorium!” Adele countered.
“Right you are my beautiful wife, right you are!”
Henry sent the code to the Pinkerton office in Kansas City. Just an hour later the messenger from Western Union arrived with a reply. Victoria would be arriving in two days. Two days to get everyone dressed and ready to welcome Victoria Webster to her new home!
Henry and Adele made up a story, just in case. They told the staff at both the house and the office that Victoria had had a mental breakdown on the death of both of her parents. She had been treated in a private sanatorium in Pablo’s Hills, Illinois for the last several months. Everyone was to treat her kindly, and not pay any attention if she made patently false statements, especially about Adele and himself. She had never gotten along with him as they were growing up! She loved to pretend that he wasn’t her brother, and that they weren’t related at all!
With the groundwork laid the two thought that as long as they could keep the Pinkerton’s out of it, they could control the girl!
On the twelfth, both Henry and Adele met the train from Wyandotte, they were looking for an unaccompanied little girl, they didn’t know how old she was. They assumed that she was a teenager around sixteen or seventeen. The office had made a sign with her name on it, Henry held it high above his head and waited for her to see it. As the crowds thinned they still hadn’t seen her. Just as the train was about to pull out, a girl about fourteen years old stepped off the second passenger car accompanied by the conductor.
She spied her name and jumped off the platform and ran to them.
“Are you my brother?” She asked.
“Of course I am! Who else would be holding a sign with your name on it?”
“I’m very pleased to meet you Henry! I only met you one time, I think I was five years old at the time! I don’t remember exactly what you looked like, my, you are certainly handsome! And is this beautiful woman your wife?”
“Victoria, this is Adele, Adele, this is Victoria!”
“You are beautiful yourself, Victoria!”
“Please call me Vicky! It’s not as stuffy and highfalutin as Victoria!”
“Alright, Vicky! How is it that Mother told me in her letter that you hated me?”
“I always told our mother that I hated that you never bothered to come see me! I don’t know you well enough to hate you! But from what I’ve seen so far I like you already!”
“Good! I hope we can learn to love each other! We are very loving people, you’ll see!”
They arrived at the Barouche Landau carriage, Bethie held open the door for them.
“Bethie, this is my sister, Vicky, Vicky this is Bethie, she is in charge of the stable as well as our chauffeur!” Henry introduced them.
“She is the first female chauffeur I’ve ever seen, she’s beautiful!” Vicky said.
“All of our staff is made up of beautiful women and girls! You will learn to love them all!” Adele told her.
“Oh, I certainly hope so!” Vicky responded wistfully.
Adele caught the wistful nature of her response and wondered if it meant what she thought it meant.
“So, Vicky, have you been away to school? Or did you attend public school in Chicago?”
“I was sent to Miss Anne’s Finishing School in Philadelphia, but after our father died there wasn’t any reason to go there anymore, so mother had me brought home.”
“I’ve heard of this school, isn’t it’s main focus to prepare you to be a special daughter to your father?” Adele asked
“Yes, and mothers too!” Vicky explained.
“Just how special would you be?” Adele asked.
“Very special! You see, Miss Ann taught us how to have sex with older men and women! Would you like to find out what I learned!” Vicky asked her.
“I think we both would love to know everything you learned!”
Vicky knelt on the floor of the carriage and lifted Adele’s dress exposing the fact that she didn’t have any underwear on. She spread her legs and dove into her beautiful pussy and definitely showed why she had gotten straight “A’s” in cunnilingus! It wasn’t long before Adele was having multiple orgasms as Vicky’s entire hand slipped boldly inside Adele’s pussy and formed a fist. Vicky moved her fist back and forth over and over as she sucked Adele’s clit.
Bethie smiled as she heard Adele’s orgasm, she couldn’t wait to experience the same pleasure at the hands and lips of the new girl! They arrived at the mansion a short time later but no one was ready to leave the confines of the Barouche. When she opened the door Vicky had Henry’s cock deep in her throat and Adele’s face was in her crotch busily lapping at her pussy. Bethie stripped out of her chauffeur’s uniform and climbed in with the trio. She straddled Henry’s face and lowered her pussy down on his face. Henry began to suck her pussy as he orgasmed into Vicky’s voracious mouth. Bethie orgasmed on Henry’s mouth and Vicky also reached her own orgasm as her own fingers stroked her pussy.
Henry suggested they move into the mansion and continue their pleasures in a more comfortable environment. They moved to the master bedroom and more of the staff joined them in welcoming Vicky to her new home.
The next morning the entire staff and Constance and her girls went to church to listen to the word of a loving God. The new preacher Charles Allen, projected an atmosphere of calm and peace. He also had an excellent singing voice and led the congregation in modern gospel songs “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” by Charles C. Converse in 1868. “O Thou in Whose Presence” by Hubert P. Main in 1869, and “O Love of God, How Strong and True!” by William H. Gladstone in 1872, and several others. New songs, modern songs unlike the old mostly German songs the previous pastor had them sing.
At the end of the service Henry tithed one hundred dollars he was so enlightened and satisfied with his experience. Knowing the new preacher was a single man, he invited him to a picnic they were having down by a pond on the property of James Emerson. They had to take several wagons and carriages, and food had been prepared by Elsa and Ingred. Fried chicken, potato salad, dinner rolls and plenty of honey.
Reverend Allen enjoyed himself and was overwhelmed with the number of beautiful women. He was particularly taken with Constance Smith and her daughters, and they were very attentive to him. That she was married was a problem, her husband hadn’t been seen or heard from since he left town three months ago. Henry put Maggie on the case...
Maggie’s Search
Maggie decided that she would have better luck finding the man if she dressed and acted like a man. Her small breasts could be wrapped in a cloth, as long as she didn’t get cold or become sexually excited her long nipples wouldn’t show. Her hips were much like a man’s slim and her butt didn’t stand out in a bubble like some girls. Standing at five feet ten inches tall she was taller than most men. She cut her hair short and bought jeans and work shirts. She wore a Colt high on her hips and was fast and accurate when she drew it. Her cowboy hat was a wide brimmed black Stetson with a slight curl on the sides and a crease in the crown. She bought a colorful hat band. Her face was kept in shadow by the hat, but she rubbed some candle soot on her face in order to give herself a five o’clock shadow in lue of whiskers.
She bought a black and dun Quarter Horse and named him Fred. She changed her name to Tex McFarland. She bought a saddle and had the saddle maker put the initials “T. M.” on either side of the saddle’s skirt toward the rear under the back housing.
She had the printer print up some cards with her new name and stating that he was a Private Investigator, an expert in finding lost people and property!
Tex also bought a mule and sawbuck pack saddle to hold all of the supplies she purchased. She kept the name of the mule the trader used, Buck.
They left town on the morning of the fifteenth, a Tuesday. The preacher, Reverend Samuel J. Hurst, had headed out of town to the south. His picture had been provided by his wife. He stopped at every ranch or dwelling he came to and inquired about the possibility that the people living there had seen him.
At the very first farm she came to, the sign at the road had claimed that it was the Robert Rutherford farm. She rode down a long driveway with corn growing in rows in the fields on both sides of it. The corn plants were only waist high. At the end of the driveway a large farmyard appeared with chickens running loose everywhere, three goats and several dogs greeted her, barking wildly but not aggressively. There was a large barn with a corral with two large Percheron draft horses and a couple of mules in it. The house was large and two stories tall. Five kids from around six years old to about twelve came out of the house followed by a woman carrying a shotgun. The woman spoke,
“We ain’t got no work for ya, iffin that’s what you’re seeking!”
“No Mame! I’m looking for a man, a preacher, who left Lawrence about three months ago! His wife wants to find out if he’s still alive! I have a photograph of him if you would care to look at it!”
“I don’t need to look at it, he was here about three months ago, he was a loud and obnoxious fool! He bought a mule from us! He paid us twice what it was worth and it bit him before he had left the yard! That was the stubbornest dad blamed mule I ever seen! It took him over an hour to get him down the driveway!”
“Did he happen to say where he was going?”
“He said he was going to the pit of perdition known as Dodge City to save them from God’s Wrath!”
“Thank you, Mame! I’ll be on my way!” With a tip of his hat, Tex turned and led the mule away. Moments later they were on the main road headed to the southwest.
Late in the day with the sun starting to set, Maggie, now Tex, stopped for the night several hundred yards north of the road next to a stream in some cottonwood trees. He/she camped on the far side of the copse of trees and gathered firewood. A downed tree trunk provided a way to drape a canvas over it to make a dry place to sleep. There was plenty of grass for Fred and Buck to munch on. She hobbled their front legs and let them graze as she/he fixed beans, bacon, and hardtack on the small fire she had made. She filled both canteens she had been using and replaced the water in the other two that she brought. It gets dry in Kansas in the summer.
Before going to bed she washed off the day’s dust and sweat in the stream. Then she tied the animals close to her tent. She lay listening to the crickets, the frogs, and cicadas making noise as she drifted off to sleep.
