Chapter 4: Finding Home

We all thought the first home was nice but once we saw the second home it did not seem so nice.

The price difference was only $130,000 yet the second home had four bedrooms each with some form of bathroom I did not understand; ¾ and ½ bathrooms, how could you have ¾ or ½ of a room and be able to use it. Charles also said there was what he called a Master Bedroom with ensuite.

We were looking at a three-story colonial style home. On the third floor was the master bedroom, it had a deck around the entire outer wall that was enclosed with mostly glass. You entered into the bedroom which had the largest mattress on the market t Alaskan King which is 9x9 and there were beautiful wood nightstands on each side of the headboard. Straight across was the door to a huge walk-in closet 12x5 with build-in dresser and rows of hanging rods. On the right was the door to the ensuite which had a double sink, two combo bidet/toilet his and hers so there would be no waiting of course, and a huge, jetted tub/jacuzzi that looked like a small swimming pool there were three shower heads in the far corner ceiling and also along both walls in that corner along with a hand-held shower head.

The second floor was all four guest bedrooms; at the landing you could go right or left. They were mirror images of each other; there was a regular bedroom with what was explained to me as a ½ bathroom which meant it only had a toilet/bidet and sink no shower or tub, and a queen-size 7x5 mattress with the same two nightstands, it also had a huge closet just not a walk-in.

The large bedrooms had ¾ bathroom which meant it had a shower only no tub, bidet/toilet, and sink, with a large walk-in closet, and of course the two nightstands next to a Wyoming King which is 7x7.

The porch or deck was straight off the main stairs landing and was also enclosed with two small breakfast tables each having four chairs.

The ground floor had the covered entrance which supported the porch/deck off the second floor. Once through the double-door entrance you had two toilets, each in its own room with a sink between them. You could see the stairwell above and behind them.

If you went to the left, you entered the living room which had two couches, two loveseats and two chairs that all matched in beautiful leather, there was a huge flatscreen viewing device mounted to a wall easily visible from any of the seating. In the back wall was a door to a ½ bathroom, next to a huge hallway which led to the stairs and a door to the utility room/ laundry room which had the water heater, furnace/ac, and breaker box for electrical in its own room with access from outside avoiding the need for workers to enter the home. The laundry room had a large washer and dryer.

If you went to the right, you entered the dining room which had a table for ten people and could be it was strange as the head of the table was wide enough for two to sit next to each other instead of just one person. So, the table could be extended to seat sixteen with the six extra chairs set against the far back wall out of the way until needed.

Going further to the right you entered the kitchen, which was huge to say the least. In the far corner was the door to the pantry and through the pantry was another door that led to the back wall walkway which went from the stairs to the garage door entrance. The garage was called a two car, but it was large enough that you could park three car side by side and have just enough room to get in.and out of them.

This was something both Monica and Cari liked.

We decided on the second home and will complete all the paperwork tomorrow at Charles’ office. To say he was shocked at the speed of our decision and even faster ability to close was almost funny.

The females then rapidly departed to gather all their possessions and move into the new home immediately.

I soon realized there was no office or study as I had heard them called. So, I called Charles and asked about having additions done. Charles began to laugh and finally said that the original blueprints had a swimming pool built next to the master bedroom with a private office/library at the far end. He said that when it was being built there was an issue on supplies needed and cost, so it was left off at that time.

I asked how long it would take to add it to the home and if we could still occupy the home during the renovations. Charles said he would call me back as soon as he got all the answers.

I was hungry and decided to hire a cook who could also help keep the huge house clean since Monica and Cari both worked. With this in mind I had the AI begin to search for the best candidate. I was amazed at the short amount of time it took to sort a list and finalize the process to one candidate. Raini was a perfect candidate and was happy to do a test interview on short notice.
