“Dan, still no answer on Karen’s phone, as if it has been shut off,” Wendy mentioned.

“I wonder if the battery died and she hasn’t thought to use a pay phone,” Dan replied, finishing his meal. “It’s six; she should have been home about an hour ago. Let’s wait until nine and if she hasn’t called, we’ll start making calls and looking for her. I’m sure there’s a reasonable explanation why she hasn’t called.”

“Maybe she decided to stop at the Hen House for a feed of cock,” Tina mentioned.

Dan looked at Wendy, memories of Karen’s last disappearance coming to mind. He went to the rec room, where he made quiet calls to Cathy to see if she’d heard from Karen. She hadn’t, saying she had been trying to call her too.

“Has Karen done this before, being quite late coming home?” Dell asked.
