David convinced some of his classmates to help the girls create their first videos to introduce them to the Internet. Crystal asked him to review them before they posted the results. He went to his bedroom for privacy while the girls took over the living area of his dorm room. Alex fled to his bedroom to study.
First up was Taylor. Crystal had a note with each one, and the rush queen’s note said she’d made Taylor cut her video in half; now, it was only thirteen minutes long. David groaned, remembering the entire discussion about keeping them short. But for Taylor, thirteen minutes was probably as short as she could make it.
Taylor: Happy rush day.
She wore a big, fluffy robe with her hair wrapped in a towel. Taylor showed her phone.
Taylor: As you can see, it’s 5:30 in the morning. I got up at five and took a shower; surprisingly, the showers were free. No one else was up yet, which is unsurprising because we had a pre-rush party with Sig Eps last night. I imagine a few of the girls will be doing the walk of shame.
Crystal: You might want to cut that last part out.
Taylor made a face like it was no big deal.
Taylor: Anyway ... I’ve been working to put this together since last semester. I managed to snag David A. Dawson to come tonight. He always brings them in. David also convinced several of his football player friends to be our waiters tonight.
Crystal: You mean you badgered the poor guy until he gave up and agreed to help you.
Taylor: If you hadn’t broken up with him, it would’ve been much easier to convince him.
Crystal: Before this devolves into something people won’t want to see...
Taylor then showed everyone the dress she’d be wearing that night, then put on makeup and styled her hair. Then, there was a montage of Taylor running around, making sure everything was ready for that night’s rush.
Taylor: Okay. It’s seven, the doors open in half an hour, and no David. I asked Crystal to call him, but she’s a big baby and keeps telling me he’ll be here.
She walked through the house to show its transformation, and then a shot of the crowd of girls lined up outside.
Taylor: Crap. In LA, no one is ever early. Why are so many girls already here? I have to go and get everyone ready so the girls rushing don’t have to stand out on the sidewalk while we get our act together.
Taylor found several girls eating dinner. She went into full drill sergeant mode and got them moving. Then, in the background, David heard Crystal say he was parking in the back. Taylor abandoned everything to greet him.
She showed the crowd as it surged into the house and commented on how David organized the girls so they could get a picture with him. Once that was done, one of the sisters would take a group of girls on a tour of the house. The tour ended at the bar, where they could get non-alcoholic beverages and snacks.
A short clip showed Crystal freaking out, worried the fire department would show up like they had the previous year because they were way over capacity. But somehow, that didn’t happen.
At the end of the video, Taylor had a team of girls writing up bids that would go out the following day.
Once it wrapped up, David made some notes but thought it was the right length and that Taylor was a natural on camera.
Up next was Wren’s OOTD (Outfit of the Day) video. Adrienne had hooked her up with some clothes. The first part was Wren in her dorm room as she laid out her outfit. She plugged the designer and told everyone where to buy it.
She then tried it on and gave her critique, which was positive. David expected they would all be that way, since the designer had sponsored the episode, which meant they had paid her.
Wren enlisted David and Tracy to help her with the middle portion. The two of them were walking in the middle of campus, arm-in-arm, looking like the couple that they were. David was in his football jersey, and Tracy wore shorts and a USC t-shirt.
David suddenly looked up and acted like he’d spotted a hot girl. He glanced over at Tracy to make sure she wasn’t looking. As Wren walked by off-camera, David did an elevator scan to check her out. He acted as if he were watching Wren walk away. When Tracy noticed his wayward eye, she smacked him in the back of the head. He just smiled and shrugged; he didn’t look embarrassed at being caught checking out Wren in her OOTD.
The camera cut to Wren walking away, showing how the outfit looked from behind. David noted that it did a great job of showing off Wren’s incredible ass. If he’d seen that in person, well, Tracy would just have to get over herself; he was allowed to look. Touching was a different story.
They’d shot it so Wren could reuse the David and Tracy scene for all her videos.
Then it switched to a smiling Wren.
Wren: Looks like this outfit is David-approved. If you want your guy to check you out like that...
Then she repeated the information about the designer and promised a link to where the outfit could be purchased.
Next up was Emily and her DIY dorm room improvement video. Crystal had convinced her to break up her projects into short clips. David wasn’t happy when he saw she’d used his room for her first video. What irritated him was that she’d tackled his bathroom sink area. He was positive she’d pulled out every lotion, soap, and other thing needed to keep his skin in top form.
Seeing it spread out like that made him realize he might have too much stuff. He might also lose his man card, but Adrienne had told him his face was his livelihood. She’d gotten him all those products, and he’d gotten used to using them.
Emily’s hook was to do each little project for only a few dollars. She showed a quick clip of her going to a store to buy storage containers and a couple of shelves. There was a sequence showing how she put it all together. Of course, there was some drama about Tracy calling to let her know that David was on his way back from class and she needed to rush to finish.
The final clip consisted of before-and-after shots from different angles. Emily had done a good job.
When the video ended, David went to his bathroom to see it himself. He would have to rearrange everything to fit his daily needs, but he could now find everything, so he called that a win.
David left his bedroom and found the girls waiting for the verdict.
“I think it looks good. You should attract content.”
“Can you help kick-start traffic?” Crystal asked.
“Sure. I’ll send Frank a message to let him know to expect a link when you’re ready, and he’ll send something to all my followers. That should help.”
“I’ve been approached to do OnlyFans,” Wren said.
“I’d pay to see that,” Alex called from his room.
“Wren, I’m going to be brutally honest, and I hope you take it as me caring for you,” David said. “For all the money you’ll make, is it worth giving up a chance for a family and love in the future?”
“Hey, now,” Taylor said.
David held up his hand so he could finish.
“Any man worth anything and that you would be attracted to wouldn’t put up with it. And to be blunt, you’re a depreciating asset. With each passing day, you will be less and less attractive. Don’t get me wrong, you’re stunning ... a beautiful girl. No man in your league would ever date you if you did this.
“The question you have to ask yourself is whether it’s worth the short-term cash to potentially torpedo your chance to ever have the kind of relationship you deserve.
“You may think that ten years down the road, no one will remember. But that’s the problem with the Internet: if anyone does a search on you, they’ll find it,” David said.
“If he loved me, he would look past it,” Wren said.
“Keep telling yourself that,” David said. He could tell the room had just turned against him by the girls’ sour looks, so he added, “Don’t get me wrong. There are plenty of guys who would love to be with you, but if they find out that you do or did porn, they’re only in it for the sex.”
“I think the right guy would accept her,” Taylor said.
“Be honest with yourself: would you get into a serious relationship with a guy who does porn?” David asked.
Wren chuckled. “You can be a real dick at times.”
Alex came out of his bedroom and said, “If you wanted to make some serious money, I’d be willing to have sex with you. If we did a video, it would just be for our personal use.”
The look on Wren’s face caused everyone not named Alex to laugh. He flipped everyone off and went back to his room.
“That brings up an interesting point: is there a dick you planned to use?” Crystal asked.
Wren glanced over at David.
“Not happening,” he said with a smile.
“I’m sure I could find someone,” Wren said with a touch of defiance.
Alex stuck his head out the door.
“If the point of view were only on you, I’d volunteer.”
“You don’t want to make a video with me that shows your face?” Wren asked.
“I hate to say it, but someday, I want to get married, too.”
“I was offered a lot of money,” Wren said, looking defeated.
“If you’re willing to travel and are open to having sex with a stranger, I know some people in Dubai who are willing to pay. I bet you’d make more on a weekend trip than OnlyFans offers. That’s how a lot of Internet influencers make serious money,” David said.
“Wouldn’t that make me a prostitute?” Wren asked.
“The correct term is a sex worker or sex care provider,” Emily said.
“How is OnlyFans different?” Crystal asked. “The only difference I can see is that instead of being paid by the person you have sex with, you get paid by the people who view the content. From what I’m hearing, that might be both in this case.”
“Maybe I’ll pass,” Wren decided.
Before she left, David pulled Wren into his room for a quick chat.
“Do you need money?”
Wren looked at her shoes and nodded ‘yes.’
“How much?”
She told him.
David pulled out his phone and used an app to send her the amount she said she needed.
“I can’t pay you back right away,” Wren said.
“That isn’t a loan; it’s an investment. I believe in you,” David said.
Wren teared up.
“Now get out of here before we embarrass ourselves,” David said gruffly.
“Thank you,” Wren said.
“You’re welcome. Now I have stuff to do,” David said, shooing her out.
Sara had helped pick up David’s kids from daycare. Manaia parked in the driveway behind the garage. They were teaching the little ones to follow directions.
Sara stood up and said, “Today’s treat hunt begins when you get off the bus. Go left...”
Carol and Coby raised their hands.
“Yes?” Sara asked.
