It had been forever since the four of them had all sat together in the living room watching TV. A movie after a family dinner, the way it used to be when they were still kids fighting over the remote. The evening had slipped away in a dizzying rush, and the whole time Madison had kept her eyes on him. That same look. Heavy. Insistent. It left him feeling as though his skin had thinned to paper, raw and exposed even under their parents’ gaze.

They’d eaten leftovers from the party, then ice cream in front of the TV without much talking. Dad had already half-dozed off on the couch, head nodding toward his chest in time with the dialogue. Mom had shaken him awake gently and they’d gone to bed, worn out from a day thick with emotion. The bedroom door at the end of the hall clicked shut with a soft, final sound.

Then it was just the two of them. Madison and him. Each in their usual chair. And the second their parents’ footsteps faded, the second they stepped out of sight, they looked at each other. Really looked. As if nothing else in the room existed. The living room suddenly felt too big and too empty, yet somehow too small to hold what was moving between them.

Madison broke the silence first. Again.

“I thought they were never going to leave...”

Her voice was low, almost a whisper, but it carried a sharp edge of impatience she didn’t bother to hide.

Alan stared at her, caught off guard by how blunt she’d been. He blinked, letting the words settle. His mouth opened, but nothing came out.

She laughed then, rolling her eyes with a casualness that didn’t quite ring true.

“It’s fine, I’m joking...” Like any of this was normal. Like sneaking off to fool around behind their parents’ backs, right here in the house, had become something ordinary.

A weight dropped onto Alan’s chest. Maybe it was the exhaustion of the day, or maybe he simply couldn’t keep swallowing every question that had been looping in his head since they’d walked through the front door. He crossed his arms over his chest, defensive without meaning to, and already felt the heat rising in his face. He swallowed hard.

“Madi ... what’s going on?”

His voice came out rough, lower than he’d wanted.

She shrugged, eyes never leaving his. A loose, almost careless gesture, but it fooled no one.

Alan kept going. The words were coming now, like he’d finally found the nerve to spill everything he’d been carrying since they arrived.

“Since we got here ... since last night ... and after what happened at your place...”

He paused, eyes dropping to his hands twisting in his lap.

“Also ... we were supposed to talk about Rebecah...”

At the name, his sister went still. The calm expression she’d worn all evening for their parents vanished in an instant. Her face shut down. Her shoulders tightened, barely noticeable. The silence that followed felt even heavier than before.

He pushed on, voice trembling slightly in spite of himself: “Yeah ... we were supposed to figure out a plan to make her stop ... manipulating us...”

Another stretch of quiet. Then, lower still, almost an admission: “The video, Madi ... it’s still real...”

The movie kept playing on the screen, the actors’ voices doing nothing to cover the dull, heavy thud of his heartbeat in his ears. Madison hadn’t moved. And Alan found he couldn’t bring himself to breathe.

She curled up tighter on the armchair, hugging her knees hard against her chest like she was trying to make herself smaller. She didn’t speak right away. She just sat there thinking, eyes drifting somewhere between the rug and the TV screen, clearly lost. Rebecah ... it was as if the girl had taken whatever was happening between her and her brother and dragged it out into the real world, nailing it down where anyone could see. She was the only one who knew. Well ... not everything. Especially not after this weekend.

Alan spoke again, voice low, almost hesitant, like he was afraid the words might carry too far through the sleeping house.

“She’s going to want answers. She’s been texting me, but I haven’t answered ... She seems obsessed ... with us.”

He dragged a nervous hand through his hair.

“She’ll probably ask me to do something else fucked up just to get me closer to you...”

At that, Madison’s mouth curved into a small, real smile. Then she let out a soft, almost ironic little laugh.

Alan sighed, embarrassed, and rubbed the back of his neck, face burning. The whole situation was ridiculous. Completely absurd. If Rebecah had any idea what was actually going on between them right now ... even if neither of them knew how to name it. Or what it even was.

“Madi ... I’m not gonna lie, I’m completely lost...”

She cut him off, voice soft, almost worried, eyes still fixed on her knees.

“You want ... to stop?”

Alan’s head snapped up, face flushed deep red, eyes wide like she’d just slapped him.

“No— I ... I mean...”

The words died in his throat.

Madison spoke again, slower this time, like she was trying to reassure him ... or maybe herself.

“I don’t really get it either ... but ... maybe you’re right ... maybe we should stop ... whatever it is we’re doing...”

Alan cut in, too fast, too loud, voice rising before he could stop it: “No! I mean ... I didn’t say that...”

Madison dropped her gaze, but a small, embarrassed smile pulled at her lips anyway. Color rose in her cheeks and she hugged her knees tighter against herself.

“So ... you want to keep going?”

The air in the living room seemed to freeze. The movie kept murmuring on the screen, indifferent. Alan hesitated, searching for words, heart pounding so hard he was sure the whole house could hear it. He didn’t know where to look. Finally he muttered, voice barely audible, almost a confession: “Hmmm ... yeah...?”

They didn’t look away from each other. The silence in the living room had thickened, heavy with everything they’d just said — and everything they still hadn’t dared to voice. Alan’s eyes moved over her, from her feet to her face, unable to stop himself. He was already rock hard, his cock straining tight against his shorts, and he knew it: this was only the beginning. The start of something he no longer controlled.

Madison tilted her head slightly.

“We staying here? ... or...”

He shook his head without even thinking. Then, voice lower, almost rough: “My room...?”

She stared at him for a second, eyes wide with surprise. But she didn’t answer. She stood without a sound, stepped past him to switch off the television with a sure flick of her wrist, and headed for the stairs. Just before she disappeared into the dark hallway, she glanced back over her shoulder — a silent signal meant only for her little brother.

A moment later they were in her room.

Everything looked exactly as he remembered, and at the same time completely different. They sat side by side on Madison’s bed, the mattress too soft, the sheets already rumpled. She didn’t stay there long. Without a word she stood and slipped into the attached bathroom, leaving Alan alone.

He stayed perched on the edge of the bed, hands on his thighs.

His gaze wandered. His big sister’s bedroom. The one he’d never really been allowed to enter without knocking, even when they were kids. The one that always smelled faintly of girl perfume, that sweet, clinging scent that had soaked into the walls, the curtains, the pillows. Photos of her friends were still pinned to the wall — smiling faces, memories of a normal life.

Fuck ... he was not comfortable.

Not at all. His heart was hammering too hard, his palms damp. But at the same time, this was the only place in the world he wanted to be. Right here. Right now. With her. While their parents slept — or maybe not quite yet. Every creak of the floorboards, every breath that came too loud, all of it was deliciously forbidden. Dangerously sweet.

The excitement was unbearable. He didn’t know if he should stand up, shift position, or just wait. He didn’t even dare touch the bed more than he had to.

The bathroom door opened a few minutes later.

Madison reappeared and teased him immediately, voice light, almost playful, like she was trying to ease the thick charge in the air.

“I wasn’t sure if you’d still be here ... or if you’d have run off.”

Alan gave her a completely lost look, face still burning.

She added, with a small crooked smile: “You look so scared right now—”

“Are you serious?”

He’d cut her off louder than he meant to.

Madison laughed softly, a natural, almost tender sound, and he could see she was trying to make things lighter, more bearable.

“I’m not going anywhere.”

She came back to the bed and sat down again, closer this time, and looked him straight in the eyes.

“I told you this afternoon I’d try to take better care of you tonight...”
