Tillyn’s blood was boiling when she stepped out of her father’s office. Katlynn was completely flabbergasted by the way the man had responded to his daughter.

“Oh, my Dunia, Tillyn,” she whispered as she pulled the distraught woman into a hug, “I’m so sorry.”

Tillyn didn’t want to stay any longer and as she pulled away from the hug she said warmly, “It’s okay, Katlynn. Take care of him. He’s going to need you more than ever.”

With that, she left the young woman, knowing her father was going to be a difficult man.

She couldn’t stop another tear from rolling down her cheek as she realized she was abandoned by her own father. She truly wished she was with Marc right now!

But she needed to get something else sorted first; She was almost convinced her Aris was malfunctioning or even worse: her Aris had been compromised. Her biggest problem was to find a way to disable her Aris without it knowing she was trying to do that.

She knew it was always close by, monitoring her when it was shifted to the other dimension. It made it extremely difficult to catch it being unaware of her intentions. However, there was a special place in her tiny quarters that she could seal off, even from her Aris.

Suddenly she realized she could use it because of her emotions after her father had cast her out in such a horrid way.

It didn’t take her long to arrive at her apartment and as soon as she had closed the door she said with a sniff, “Aris, I’m going to isolate myself. I want to be completely alone.”

Her assistant appeared in a flash. “Of course, Tillyn. Is there anything I can do for you?”

Slowly she shook her head and said with a forlorn smile, “No thank you, Aris. I just need a little time alone.”

She kept an eye on her floating Aris while she stepped into the cramped space and closed the door. She tapped on the screen and initiated the special field that would block everything, including her assistant.

It was a horrible feeling to be closed in, but she knew that this was the only way to find a solution to her problem. With bated breath, she opened the secret vault that was under the seating cushion of the spartan bench. There were just a few things she kept in there, and one of them was the paper instruction booklet of her Aris. Every explorer had one stashed away for an emergency.

She already knew which chapter she had to read carefully, and as she sat down, she realized she was going to miss the Sun Festival’s opening. She sighed deeply as she knew she had to commit the chapter to memory and any failure could bring her great danger.

Tillyn nervously stepped into her sports skirt and fiddled once more with her new brassiere to get the tight fabric to accommodate her breasts a little better. She hopped up and down a little and smiled when she felt quite comfortable. A light oversized t-shirt completed her outfit and as she looked into the mirror, she thought she looked pretty good.

Apart from her wider hips, she looked just like a Dunian.

She longed to have a strenuous run and as soon as she stepped out of her small apartment, her Aris appeared in front of her.

“Hello Aris,” she said seemingly calm while she walked with sturdy steps towards the beautiful forest.

“It looks like you’re going for a run.”

“Indeed, I am,” she replied while rolling her eyes.

“You didn’t bring any water with you.”

Tillyn used the bench to stretch her muscles and said offhandedly, “Did you ever see me drinking from it?”

“No.”

“I used them as extra weight, you see,” she said with a smirk and as she placed her hands on her chest she said, “These are at least five times as heavy as the bottles I carried.”

“Three point eight times, to be exact,” responded her Aris.

“Okay about four times then.” Her heart was beating as she managed to start with the chain of numbers she had to say to get her Aris in a standby modus. The first two numbers of the ten-digit code were said.

“I guess I’m going to run eight laps,” she said with a fake enthusiasm.

“That might be too much Tillyn, especially after such a long interval of rest.”

“You’re right, perhaps six laps would be better. Although it has been only nine cycles since my last run.”

“It has been nineteen cycles, Tillyn,” Aris responded, sounding a little annoyed.

Two more digits and then she could just continue saying the last numbers. She repeated the numbers once more in her mind; 54869 92489, realizing she had to say the same number again.

“Gosh,” she said as she started to jog at a leisurely speed, “it really felt like only nine cycles ago.”

“You’re feeling for time is quite off,” her assistant replied dryly.

Now she needed to find a good reason to say the number two. What could she say with that number without her Aris suspecting she was citing the sequence? Then suddenly it came to her and with a laugh she said, while briefly cupping her breasts, “It must have happened when I got these two.”

“I have warned you before, Tillyn.”

Her heart skipped a beat when she heard the snippy voice. “What do you mean, Aris?” she asked meekly. Did her Aris detect her attempt to put him in standby modus?

“Being an Earthling has compromised your ability to properly judge dangerous situations. Even now your heart rate is too high, you should slow down.”

She stopped jogging to give her corrupt device a misleading signal that she was listening to its advice. There were only three numbers left: 498. Then she started to doubt herself. Was it 489? She inhaled deeply to get her nerves to calm down. She looked at Aris and wondered if she could ever trust any automated response system again. She blew out her breath forcefully and smiled, “I guess I need to be more careful.”

“You should Tillyn.”

“Well,” she said with a clear voice, “four, eight, nine.
