The correctional facility was a squat concrete building on the edge of the city, surrounded by chain-link fencing and security cameras. Kate sat in the passenger seat of Matthew’s car, her hands clasped so tightly in her lap that her knuckles had gone white.

“We can still turn around,” Alex said from the back seat, leaning forward to rest a hand on Kate’s shoulder. “You don’t have to do this.”

“Yes, I do,” Kate said, her voice steadier than she felt. “I need to do this.”

Matthew parked and they sat for a moment in silence. Then Kate opened her door and stepped out into the cold morning air. Matthew and Alex flanked her immediately, their presence a shield against the world.

DA Morales met them at the entrance, her expression professional but sympathetic. “Kate. Thank you for coming. I know this isn’t easy.”

“Let’s just get it over with,” Kate said.

They went through security—metal detectors, bag checks, signing in. Kate felt like she was moving through water, everything slow and surreal. Her heart hammered against her ribs.

“Ground rules,” DA Morales said as they walked down a sterile hallway. “This meeting is voluntary on both sides. Either party can end it at any time. Timmy’s lawyer will be present. There will be a guard outside the door. If at any point you feel unsafe or want to leave, just say the word.”

Kate nodded, not trusting her voice.

They stopped outside a door marked “Conference Room B.” Through the small window, Kate could see Timmy sitting at a table, his lawyer beside him.

“Ready?” DA Morales asked.

Kate looked at Matthew and Alex. Matthew’s jaw was tight, his hands clenched into fists. Alex squeezed Kate’s hand and nodded encouragingly.

“Ready,” Kate said.

DA Morales opened the door.

The room was small and windowless, dominated by a rectangular table. Timmy sat on the far side, wearing an orange jumpsuit that made his skin look sallow. He’d lost weight—his face was thinner, sharper, his eyes sunken. But those eyes—when they landed on Kate, they were exactly the same. Possessive. Angry. Unrepentant.

“Mom,” Timmy said, and the word was like a slap.

Kate forced herself to move into the room. Matthew and Alex followed, taking seats on either side of her. DA Morales sat at the head of the table. Timmy’s lawyer—a tired-looking man in a rumpled suit—sat beside Timmy, a legal pad in front of him.

“Mr. Morrison,” the lawyer began, “as we discussed, this meeting is an opportunity for you to—”

“I know why I’m here,” Timmy interrupted, his eyes never leaving Kate. “I’m here to apologize. To explain myself.” His lips curved into something that wasn’t quite a smile. “Isn’t that right, Mom?”

Kate said nothing. Her hands were shaking in her lap, but she kept her gaze steady.

“You look good,” Timmy continued, his tone conversational. “Fucking two people must agree with you. Or is it more than two now? How many cocks have you taken since you kicked me out, you whore?”

“Mr. Morrison—” his lawyer started, but Timmy talked over him.

“That’s what you are, right? A whore. A slut. A used-up cunt who spreads her legs for anyone who’ll have her.” Timmy leaned forward, his voice dropping lower, more intimate. “But you spread them for me first, didn’t you, Mom? You were mine first.”

Kate felt Matthew tense beside her, felt the rage radiating off him in waves.

“You want to know something?” Timmy continued, his eyes glittering. “You were so wet for me. Every single time. Your body knew what it wanted. Your pussy got so fucking wet when I touched you, when I fucked you. You came for me, Mom. You moaned my name. Your body loved what I did to you.”

“That’s enough,” DA Morales said sharply.

But Timmy was on a roll now, his voice rising. “You can pretend all you want that you didn’t want it, that you were unconscious, that it was rape. But your body told the truth. You got wet. You came. You moaned for your son’s cock like the depraved slut you are.”

Matthew exploded out of his chair.

He lunged across the table, his hands reaching for Timmy’s throat. “I’m going to fucking kill you—”

Timmy’s lawyer scrambled backward. DA Morales shouted. The door burst open and two guards rushed in, grabbing Matthew and hauling him back. Matthew fought against them, still trying to get to Timmy, his face contorted with rage.

“You’re dead!” Matthew roared. “You hear me? You’re fucking dead!”

“Matthew, stop!” Kate cried, but her voice was lost in the chaos.

It took both guards to drag Matthew toward the door. He was still shouting threats, still struggling, and Kate felt panic rise in her chest. She needed him here. She needed—

Alex’s hand found hers under the table, squeezing tight. “I’m here,” Alex whispered. “I’ve got you.”

The door slammed behind Matthew and the guards. The room fell into sudden, ringing silence.

Timmy was laughing. “Guess he couldn’t handle the truth. Guess he doesn’t like knowing that his girlfriend is a mother-fucking whore who came on her son’s—”

“Shut up,” Kate said.

Her voice was quiet, but something in it made Timmy stop. Made everyone in the room look at her.

Kate took a breath. Then another. Alex’s hand was warm in hers, grounding her, giving her strength.

“You want to talk about truth?” Kate said, her voice growing stronger. “Let’s talk about truth, Timmy. The truth is that you drugged me. You violated me while I was unconscious. You stole years of my life, years of my safety, years of my trust. You sold my body to strangers. You filmed it all and posted it for the world to see.”

“You wanted it—” Timmy started, but Kate talked over him.

“The truth is that you’re not my son anymore. My son died somewhere along the way, or maybe he never existed at all. Maybe I was raising a monster and I was too blind to see it. But the boy I loved, the boy I sacrificed everything for—he’s gone. You killed him.”

Timmy’s smirk faltered slightly.
