Chapter 16: The Pregnancy

Historical Sex Story: Chapter 16: The Pregnancy - A story of two sisters who both became consorts to the same Joseon prince, both elevated beyond their station, both genuinely loved by a man who chose them for who they were. One brilliant and brief. One quiet and enduring. Both essential to the tapestry of a family built from loss.

1488 - Jiwon age 21, Hyeon age 23

By the fourth month, Jiwon’s pregnancy was undeniable.

Her stomach curved outward, a visible swell that made the court ladies smile knowingly and the King nod with approval. She could no longer hide her condition in loose robes, and she stopped trying.

She was carrying Prince Yi Hyeon’s child. The palace was delighted.

The Body Changes

Pregnancy transformed Jiwon’s body in ways that were both wondrous and uncomfortable.

The morning sickness that had plagued her first three months finally eased, replaced by a voracious appetite that surprised her.

“I’m eating constantly,” she complained to Hyeon one evening after finishing her third helping of rice. “This can’t be normal.”

“You’re feeding two people now. Eat as much as you want.”

“I’m going to be enormous.”

“You’re going to be beautiful.” He rested his hand on her stomach, which had become his favorite place to touch. “And our child is going to be healthy because you’re taking such good care of both of you.”

Her breasts grew heavy and tender. Her ankles swelled by evening. Her back ached from the changing weight distribution. She tired easily, needing afternoon rest periods that had never been part of her routine before.

“I feel like a different person,” she told Princess Myeonghye during one visit.

“You are a different person. You’re becoming a mother.” The princess smiled. “My own mother told me that pregnancy is the body’s way of preparing you for how completely your child will change your life. Nothing will ever be the same after they’re born.”

“That’s terrifying.”

“And wonderful. Mostly wonderful.”

But there were beautiful changes too. Her skin glowed with health. Her hair grew thick and lustrous. And most miraculous of all—the baby moved.

At first, it was the faintest flutter, like bubbles or butterflies in her stomach. Jiwon wasn’t sure if she was imagining it. But gradually, the movements became stronger, more definite.

“Hyeon,” she said one evening, grabbing his hand and placing it on her stomach. “Wait. Just wait.”

They stayed very still. Then—a distinct push against his palm.

His eyes went wide with wonder. “I felt it. That was—that was our baby.”

“That was our baby,” she confirmed, tears streaming down her face.

They sat like that for nearly an hour, his hand on her stomach, both of them marveling at every movement, every proof of the life growing inside her.

The Vulnerability

But pregnancy also made Jiwon feel vulnerable in new ways.

Her body no longer felt like her own—it was governed by the child inside her, by forces beyond her control. She couldn’t move as quickly, couldn’t serve as efficiently, couldn’t keep up with the pace of palace life the way she once had.

“You need to rest more,” Hyeon insisted after finding her struggling through yet another long day of administrative work.

“I have responsibilities—”

“Which can be delegated. You’re carrying our child. That’s your primary responsibility right now.”

“I’m not an invalid. I’m just pregnant.”

“I know. But you’re also stubborn and won’t admit when you need help.” He guided her to sit, his voice gentle but firm. “Let me take care of you, Jiwon. Please.”

She wanted to argue, but exhaustion won out. “Fine. But only because you asked nicely.”

“I’ll ask nicely every day if that’s what it takes.”

The palace, too, treated her differently now. Court ladies who had once envied or resented her position now showed her deference tinged with something almost like kindness. She was carrying a royal child—that elevated her beyond just being a servant who had married well.

Even servants treated her more carefully, more gently, as if she might break.

Jisoo, especially, became fiercely protective.

“You shouldn’t be walking so much, unnie,” she would say, appearing at Jiwon’s elbow to offer support.

“I’m pregnant, not dying.”

“But you’re carrying something precious. You should be careful.”

The concern was touching, if sometimes suffocating. Everyone suddenly had opinions about what Jiwon should eat, how much she should rest, what activities were safe or dangerous.

“I feel like I’m being managed,” she complained to Hyeon.

“You are being loved,” he corrected. “Everyone wants to make sure you and the baby are safe.”

“I know. I just ... I miss feeling competent. In control of my own body.”

“I understand. But this is temporary. Once the baby is born—”

“Everything changes again.”

“Yes. But we’ll navigate those changes together, just like we’ve navigated everything else.”

The Planning Intensifies

As Jiwon’s stomach grew, so did the preparations for the baby’s arrival.

The nursery was prepared—a beautiful room near their quarters, decorated in soft colors, equipped with everything a royal infant might need. A wet nurse was selected, interviewed extensively by both Jiwon and the princesses. Physicians were put on standby for the delivery.

Princess Myeonghye took charge of the practical arrangements with her characteristic efficiency, while Princess Sukhye focused on acquiring beautiful things—tiny silk garments, an intricately carved cradle, toys that wouldn’t be usable for years but were too precious to resist.

Princess Jeongmyeong, newly married herself and pregnant with her first child as well, became Jiwon’s constant companion, comparing symptoms and sharing anxieties.

“Do you think we’re ready?” Jeongmyeong asked one afternoon as they sat together, both resting in the warm sun.

“I don’t think anyone is ever ready,” Jiwon admitted. “But we’ll figure it out.”

“Your confidence is reassuring.”

“I’m faking the confidence. Inside, I’m terrified.”

“So am I.” Jeongmyeong laughed softly. “At least we can be terrified together.”

The camaraderie helped. Knowing she wasn’t alone in her fears, that other women were navigating the same uncertainties, made everything more bearable.

The Connection Deepens

As the pregnancy progressed, Jiwon felt increasingly connected to the life inside her.

She would talk to her stomach, sometimes aloud, sometimes just in her mind. Telling the baby about the palace, about their father, about the family waiting to meet them.
