How common is homosexual, bisexual, and/or lesbian, orientation, today? Researchers at Cornell University, examining data collected from a representative sampling of young Americans which included more than 20,000 individuals in 80 communities across the United States. The study found that 85.1% of the young women identified as straight heterosexual, 14.4% were sexual, but not strictly heterosexual (i.e. either lesbian and/or bisexual), and 0.5% reported no sexual identity at all. Among the young men, 94.0% identified themselves as heterosexual, while 5.6% identified as gay and/or bisexual, and 0.4% no sexual identity.

But really, all women prove to be either ... lesbian ... bisexual ... or gay, but never absolutely straight, or heterosexual ... when it comes to what really turns them on. New research from the University of Essex shows that although lesbians are much more attracted to females (dud), they are like most women who say they are straight, heterosexual. They are positively aroused by videos of both naked men, and naked women. Of the 235 confirmed lesbians tested 82 % were positively aroused by both sexes in the videos. Less than 2% actually had a negative response. This was based on indicators such as whether their pupils dilated, or heartbeat increased, or blood pressure and/or respiration rate changed in response to the sexual stimuli.

Of the women who identified as straight, heterosexual, 74 per cent were strongly sexually aroused by videos of both attractive men and attractive women. In contrast, those claiming to be lesbians showed much stronger sexual responses to women than to men as was expected. The study clearly showed that lesbians who dressed in a masculine manner may not actually have more masculine behaviors, although they may be more masculine ... aggressive ... in their display of sexual arousal. This shows us that how women appear in public does not necessarily mean that we know anything about their sexual role preferences in the privacy of the home.
