“Dorel, I will happily return you to your role as Supreme Queen. The elders and my Council will support the idea. I have taken the name Nurgul. We will use the family name Brista to remember our mother.”

‘Nurgul, these are momentous times. David fertilized me when we were at the ceremony.’

‘How did it go?’ Asked Nurgul excitedly.

‘It was an extraordinary experience. I will tell you all about it when we get back. David was strong, and the encounter was more than I expected. We also made love, as do they in the Paradigm. It was everything I had hoped for and more. Nurgul, you are our Supreme Queen. I believe what happened was predestined, and our future is linked closely to those three. These three are way more than I could ever imagine, yet they conform with our predictions. I must remain with them and help them.”

“Dorel, I understand your decision. In your place, I would do the same. How did Ashlyn react?”

“Ashlyn was upset she took sperm from other males. However, she and I formed a strong bond. We also bonded with Makuto. One King has never fertilized three Queens in all our history. Brendan was even more prolific; he fertilized four.”

‘Dorel, I wish you luck birthing the best queens, and if we are blessed, we will finally breed healthier kings.”

“Was David weaker after your coupling?”

“No, he was not. We repeated the same in humanoid form. I am pregnant as a human, and as a XaX, the doctors tell me the XaX sperm quality is superb. The first eggs are doing well. They are bigger than usual and have a vitality of 10.”

“That is unprecedented. What is the ratio?”

“I knew you would ask, Nurgul. The ratio is two queens to four workers and one King. They are all healthy. The ratio is stable in the first ten thousand eggs.”

Nurgul hugged her sister tightly. “This is what the prophesies meant. We will meet the new and make them our Kings. They are different from you, but you make them the same. The XaX improves, and so does the new.”

Nurgul smiled. “There was another prophecy that has, in part, come true. The three will take you to the oldest of the old. You will make them young, and they will help you rise and defeat your foes.”

Nurgul placed her hand on her sister’s shoulder. “Dorel, do you think we can trust these ancients?”

“I asked myself the same question when I was in the Construct. The great ancients are much easier to understand than the Paradigm Councilors. They live simple lives and are unselfish and community-minded. Brendan, David, and Ashlyn are similar people; they dedicated themselves to the service of others. The Paradigm Councilors are self-serving and unnecessarily competitive. We can trust the great ancients much more than the Councilors of the Paradigm. The people of the Paradigm are unlike those of the Council. We work well with them, and most are reliable and reasonable. I do not understand how this can be so. It is almost as if many on the Council are a defective breed.”

Nurgul laughed. “Imra and her family are a pleasure to work with. Atra’s family is a bit more difficult but highly competent and reliable. I’ve met many Councilors since you have been away. They are like we were. They are lost and seek a sense of direction. We can see it is before them, but they are blind to the problem. Some act as if they are fighting inner demons.”

“Yes, I can see that, and I agree. The Councilors are blind because they choose not to see. If they see the truth of their lives, they must change, and the Councilors fear to change more than anything else. They no longer remember why they argue over nothing and fight over trivia. They hang onto history as though it holds universal truths.”

“How did your group spend your time on the Construct?”

“Brendan ran classes on the Paradigm methods of self-development. We joined his class. He is an excellent teacher. We learned to use our new AIs and learned the common language. One of the people from the Construct gave us a timetable of activities, and we chose what we did a week ahead.”

“Dorel, did you meet many other species?”

‘We met many in the Construct and saw much of it. The group we deal with here represents most species other than the ants. The AI that runs the Construct also has a place on the Council. I’ll tell you more about how they govern themselves when I return,’ Dorel suggested.

‘The ancients rushed off after our meeting; what are they doing?’ Nurgul asked.

‘As soon as we reached our solar system, many on the ship wanted to speak with the Brainiac. That is what they are doing in their rooms. They barely came out for lunch. They ate quickly and dashed back.’

‘Rather than tell you about the Construct, I suggest you and your advisors go with them when they return in two weeks. Take a few thousand XaX back with the ship. They will give you their AIs, and you will learn the common language they use. All the different species speak the same language,’ Dorel explained.

‘What does the Construct look like?’ Nurgul asked.

‘The living areas are much like a hotel, except they store everything in transdim space until they want to use it. The common areas are luxurious but simple. They build everything to look lovely, not flashy, like the super luxurious hotel ship. The great ancients don’t show off and have nothing to prove. We met many beings on the ship. They were starved for novelty and a challenge. They play games that challenge them, but they crave more than games. Some have hobbies, others study, and some work. They miss the engagement of everyday life and its challenges. They want to help others improve but not intrude. They love to be appreciated when giving of themselves. They behaved like indulgent parents,’ said Dorel.

‘What is the Paradigm capital like? Keresen asked.
