Chapter 53: War Strategy

Science Fantasy Sex Story: Chapter 53: War Strategy - Three young people represent Earth in a battle with our powerful ancestors who seeded us and terraformed Earth. It is a battle against people who believe Earth has lost its way, and they intend to destroy Earth if it does not comply. They are so far ahead of us that they are Godlike but are biased and irrational and prepared to inflict pain without compunction.

The Supreme Queen stood. ‘I will call our next witness, and the Councilor may return when his emotions are under control.’

As the Queen sat, she waved her antennae toward Brendan.

“Councilor Adaobi Hollei, do you swear to tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth?”

“What is this about? Can you finally tell me?” Adaobi asked.

“Please answer the questions as asked,” intoned the Supreme Queen.

“I will, to the best of my ability.”

The other Councilors laughed.

“You were on the Council at the start of the Second Theocratic War. Can you tell us how the Second Theocratic War came about?” Brendan asked.

Adaobi shook her head. “It was a long time ago. It was a shameful episode best forgotten.”

“Answer the question, Councilor; the Galaxy’s fate may hinge upon your answer,” the Supreme Queen declared.”

Adaobi let out a long whistling breath. “The Council in those days met in several places. We were in the old capital at the time. We became aware of a stir of excitement.

The atmosphere was tense for centuries following the first Civil War, and people’s morale was low. Our security forces were active and alert, and our internal intelligence service was a massive organization, ten times bigger than now. Suddenly, people were excited and looked happy. I first became aware of what was happening when I watched one of our most famous scientists and media figures on a Holo broadcast. She talked of discovering that her Neruk was an interface to an intelligent being and that she was learning the language of the intelligent being.”

Adaobi looked around at her audience. “Her name was Makuto Kambi; I knew her from University and liked her. She was a striking, large woman with a shock of auburn hair that ran in waves past her shoulders. Makuto was a brilliant scientist, an engaging conversationalist, and charismatic. I met with her for lunch, and we renewed our acquaintanceship. I thought no more about her for some time after our meeting.

Many years later, she came to the attention of the Council.”

Adaobi took a sip of her drink and breathed as if she was about to talk. She shook her head and looked down at the podium. Ada raised her head and began again. “Councilor Anayees Yarinkalosa Parnok cursed be her name, raised an issue for discussion. Councilor Gazdanty and I were new to the Council, and Parnok was a rising star several years ahead of us. Her father was a General in Internal Intelligence.”

Adaobi moved restlessly, shifting her weight from one leg to the other and scratching her left arm with her right.

“Anayees Parnok told us Prof. Makuto Kambi was leading a new religious cult. She added that Kambi had a broad and passionate following on several planets. She said Kambi alleged she communicated with a God, and this God would lead the Paradigm to greatness. She used an obscure language to communicate with this God and had created an accelerated version of the Developmental Path in consultation with this alleged God.”

Ada shook her head and paused for more water. Her face was flushed. “Please excuse me for a moment.”

Ada rushed from the room.

Two minutes later, she solemnly returned to the podium, breathing deeply.

“This is the part I most regret and am most ashamed about. Parnok produced a report from a so-called, but unknown to all of us, famous scientist, Professor Seka Shohsukit. Shohsukit refuted Kambi’s findings and alleged that the developmental pathway advocated by Kambi was a guise to gain followers so she could gain control of the Paradigm. None of the Council questioned her. I was disgusted with myself. Shohsukit was unknown, and we did not investigate Kambi’s work or question what was said. I didn’t know what to do, so I did nothing. I did talk to a few other Councilors, but they told me Parnok knew what she was doing.”

Ada paused once more and sipped on her water. She stretched her shoulders and moved her head from side to side.

“The Council President was weak and ineffectual and agreed to a trial of Kambi, which turned out to be a sham. Kambi was censured and fired from her academic post in disgrace. A year later, General Parnok reported that Kambi planned to lead her followers to a secret base she had established and intended to declare war on us once established. The General advised us to declare war on the traitor Kambi. He would ambush the incipient army and fleet.”

Adaobi once again paused and looked at her audience, slowly nodding. “I am ashamed to say we went along with it. The General and his cronies attacked the fleet. They didn’t know that many admirals and other high-ranking officers from our military were part of the refugee group. His intelligence was abysmal. We later learned they did not want to fight us; they never intended to fight us but planned to make a new life outside the Paradigm. We had the advantage of numbers. They had superior technology and were prepared to fight a battle. I do not know how many ships and millions of people they and we lost. The admirals told us none escaped. The Paradigm was shocked when they discovered the carnage and how many of our best we lost. Many of our top scientists were with her group.”

Ada pursed her lips and slowly shook her head. “We kept to the official story and set up a series of Council investigative teams. We discovered that Kambi had discovered the Brainiac, as the trio later did. She learned the language of the Brainiac to communicate with it. Kambi taught a shortened form of the developmental program aided by Neruk and taught scientists how to access the brainiac using its language. She wanted to improve the Paradigm, not fight it. Makuto Kambi was so disillusioned after the mock trial she decided to leave the Paradigm. We believe Parnok and her father faked the evidence. Someone from Parnok’s office leaked the original paper written by Prof. Shohsukit. It was nothing like the version Parnok produced and advocated further investigation into an area of possible opportunity.”

“Ada, why didn’t you interview Shohsukit earlier?” Councilor Ambar Nayan asked.

“We couldn’t find her. She disappeared only to appear much later in the capital as the head of the Developmental Program,” said Adaobi. “Parnok’s credibility crashed, and half the Council resigned. Most of us who remained felt crushing guilt until today.”

“Why do you think Parnok gave the Neruk to the trio?” Asked Ihita Hemant.
