Chapter 49: The Aftermath of the Drunduh Attack.

Science Fantasy Sex Story: Chapter 49: The Aftermath of the Drunduh Attack. - Three young people represent Earth in a battle with our powerful ancestors who seeded us and terraformed Earth. It is a battle against people who believe Earth has lost its way, and they intend to destroy Earth if it does not comply. They are so far ahead of us that they are Godlike but are biased and irrational and prepared to inflict pain without compunction.

The yacht came out of semiotic space ten thousand kilometers from Earth, facing Australia.

“Sir, the Drunduh invaded the planet in the other hemisphere. I see drop-ships heading for the surface and gunships patrolling above the city under attack. There is an enemy battleship on the edge of our scans. We are cloaked, and they do not see us,” said the Captain. “The crew is on alert, as you instructed, and weapons are hot.”

“Are you alright, Siobhan?” Ijendu asked. “The Drunduh is attacking the other side of the planet.”

“We saw it on the news,” said Siobhan. “Don’t put your ship in danger; leave us, save yourselves.”

“We will set up a portal when we can, as soon as you see it run through. Are the Cohens with you?” Ijendu asked.

“Yes, we’ve been watching the news together. The Drunduh attacked New York. They are picking up thousands of people and putting them on ships. We’re ready to go and will leave at your convenience.”

“Orjay, they’re ready to go. Must you decloak?”

“Sir, a smaller enemy ship is heading on a course that will take it close to us. We cannot decloak until they pass us. We must wait for them to be out of range or go round the planet.”

“That smaller ship is much bigger than we are,” Orjay observed. “Wait here until we can briefly decloak.”

“According to the information we have from the XaX, it is a frigate-class ship. The other ship is a battleship carrying millions of crew members and marines. Our workers spotted a cargo ship orbiting the planet a hundred kilometers above the city. There is a steady stream of cargo loaders heading to the cargo ship from the planet.”

“Siobhan, we will pick you up but must delay until we can open the portal. Remain ready. We are decloaking to establish a soft portal to your house. A frigate is passing us at present. We must wait for it to circle the planet, or it will see us.”

“Sir, regardless of what we do, they will spot us. The frigate is deploying sensor buoys. I am moving closer to the planet to set up the portal more quickly. I will prepare to run as soon as our guests are safe. I hope they can’t chase us into semiotic space. We can’t use weapons unless we try the experimental gravulon emitter.”

“Fire it only if we have no choice. It may blow us up. Nothing so far has worked in semiotic space,” said Orjay. “The weapon is highly effective, but I haven’t had time to test the device in semiotic space.”

Fifteen minutes passed.

“The frigate has no direct line to sense us; I’m establishing the portal.”

“Siobhan, prepare to dash through the portal when I tell you.”

“The portal is hardening, 10... 9... 8 ... buoy rushing on a collision course with us 3... 2... 1... 0 firing weapons.”

“Siobhan, jump through the portal now.”

Sarah rushed through, followed by Siobhan, Samuel, and Peter.

“The buoy is evading fire, and a second buoy is heading our way. Our workers show a second frigate is coming over the horizon and is accelerating our way. The first buoy will impact on our shield in one second.”

The buoy exploded on impact.

“The shield is down to eight percent. We are accelerating and changing course. Strap in. We are at eighty-seven percent of the required charge for a semiotic jump and building fast,” said Orjay.

“Now I know how Brendan, David, and Ashlyn must have felt,” said Siobhan. “This is the first battle I’ve experienced, and I hope it will be the last.”

“Orjay is a frustrated Admiral; he thrives on this,” said Ijendu. “He gave it up when we married.”

“The frigate is preparing to fire. We destroyed the second buoy. We cloaked ourselves. The frigate knows our probable location. Captain, change course.”

“Shields are at fifty percent. The frigate scored a direct hit on the shield ... Course changed ... Ninety-four percent of necessary charge available.”

“One more strike, and we are visible,” the Captain said.

“Shields down, cloaking down and entering semiotic space in 3... 2... 1 ... go,” said the Captain with noticeable relief in her voice. “Shields charging ... One of the workers shows the Drunduh frigate turning and is chasing us.”

“Charge up the gravionic emitter,” said Orjay. “Guys, we are in deep trouble. We don’t know if they have weapons that work in this space. None of ours do. We built an experimental weapon that may work, or we may all blow up. We will only use it only if we have no choice. If they can find us here, they will either shoot us if they can or nudge us out of semiotic space. We can’t sense them in here unless they are close.”

“Sir, there is nothing on the scanners. They overloaded our shields; they are out of commission. We can’t cloak in here.”

“We’ll know if they can find us here within ten minutes,” said Orjay.

“I feel safer here than I did at home,” said Siobhan. “At least we have a chance to shoot back.”

“I have a bad feeling,” said Sarah. “I can feel something malign coming our way.”

“Sir, the sensor operator can see something at the edge of our vision. We’re not sure if it is an artifact. We’ll know in ten seconds.”

“Is the gravionic emitter ready?” Orjay asked. “Fire when ready!”

“The emitter is ready, sir. I confirm the ship is the Drunduh ship. Fire emitter.”

The ship jolted and turned, and the bridge went dark, except for dim yellow lights over the stations.

“They hit us a tenth of a second after we fired. We are coming out of semiotic space; our engines are down ... Our power is out. The reserve reactor is online and firing up.”

Orjay sighed. Let’s find out where we are and assess our damage.

Two long minutes passed.

“Sir, we have bad news and bad news. We are within the gravitational field of a massive sun, ten thousand times the mass of our own. Radiation is striking the ship, and we do not have the power to raise the shields. We are accelerating toward the sun.”

“When is the latest we can pull away from the sun?” Asked Ijendu.

“Give or take twenty-eight minutes is as much as I can say. From thirty minutes, our chances decline precipitously. Radiation will kill us in forty minutes. At best, we will suffer radiation sickness,” said the Captain. “The only good news is the Drunduh ship disintegrated. We can see sections of the ship floating in the distance.”

“Can we jettison any mass?” Orjay asked.

“No, we don’t have enough time to make a difference,” replied the Captain.

“Sir, in the time available, we must concentrate on one reactor; which do you think is best? Neither sustained damage as far as we can see.”

“The backup reactor is faster to start but is less powerful. Bring up the other and take over as soon as possible; it gives us a slightly better chance,” advised Orjay.

Ijendu turned toward her guests. “Orjay started as an engineer and specialized in advanced power generation methods. Later, he entered the leadership stream and became a captain.”

“I can’t sit here doing nothing,” said Orjay, “I will help the engineers.”

Orjay strode from the bridge to the portal.

The time passed slowly. The Captain showed them the debris of the Drunduh ship and the sun looming below.

“I don’t advise we eat or drink anything,” said Ijendu, “We will be sick from the radiation. We can fix radiation sickness, but we will battle to get away from the sun. Even with our gravitic and inertial compensators, it will be rough.”

“Don’t worry, we will escape this,” said Sarah. “Earth will have a rougher time than us. If we live through this, it is a bonus.”
