Chapter 46: Danger
Science Fantasy Sex Story: Chapter 46: Danger - Three young people represent Earth in a battle with our powerful ancestors who seeded us and terraformed Earth. It is a battle against people who believe Earth has lost its way, and they intend to destroy Earth if it does not comply. They are so far ahead of us that they are Godlike but are biased and irrational and prepared to inflict pain without compunction.

The trio walked to lunch in Atra’s suite. They shared their stories from the interviews.
“They didn’t pick on me today, but they went for both of you,” said Brendan. “What do you think they will do tomorrow?”
David and Ashlyn both shrugged.
“Your interviewers wanted to find out what would be helpful for the Paradigm. Ours were preoccupied with scalps,” said David.
Ashlyn looked around. “Where are our guards?”
“They aren’t responding to my telepathic call,” said Brendan. “Get shields up and weapons ready.”
The door opened, and two shadowy figures glided through the door.
The trio moved closer together, back to back.
“Something hit my shoulder,” said Brendan.
Ashlyn fired her weapon. She missed as her target jumped, then whirled and threw something metallic that glanced off her shield. Ashlyn fired just as something hit her shield front on, slowly penetrated through it, and darted towards her. She grabbed the dart and jammed it into her assassin. The assassin screamed and disintegrated. David fired at the remaining assassin, who dived, rolled, and dodged out of the way, threw something that split with a flash, and headed for Ashlyn and David. David fired again and missed.
Brendan was out of his body and heading for the assassin. The assassin threw something that went right through Brendan.
“Ow, something hit me,” said Ashlyn, clutching the right side of her neck. She dropped her weapon.
David couldn’t see anything heading for him. He started to turn to Ashlyn and felt something strike high on his thigh. It burned, and he began to feel woozy. He fired again.
David cradled Ashlyn as she fell. Then with the last of his energy, he darted to the door and called for help.
David’s leg was burning, immersed in molten metal.
David knew he must get help but couldn’t think; his head was dizzy. What could he do? He couldn’t breathe.
David fell onto the side of the open door, and his face and chest ground their way to the ground.
David woke in a medical tube. “I’m getting used to the tube, and that’s not a good thing,” he said to his mother. “I am, however, delighted to see you, Mom. We’ve gotta stop meeting like this.”
Sarah laughed despite her red eyes and tears streaking down her cheeks. “David, you must stop getting yourself killed. Your father remained behind as we can’t leave the supermarket without time to organize things.”
“I’m pleased you came. What happened after Ash and I collapsed?”
“One of the security people from the ship will be here soon to talk to you. Brendan came out of a coma two hours ago, and Ashlyn is coming out as we speak. The XaX saved you guys,” said Sarah. “The doctors will be at the discussion, as will one of the senior Queens.”
“Here comes the doctor!”
Two days later, the trio felt well enough to attend a meeting to discuss the attack. Brendan felt weak and needed one of the XaX guards to help him walk to the meeting room nearby. Siobhan anxiously brought up the rear.
Guards accompanied Brendan to a nearby meeting room. XaX guards in heavy armor stood around the periphery. Brendan, David, and Ashlyn sat at the enormous table while several senior Queens sat in boats at the other end. The six Council interrogators sat next to the Queens, looking acutely uncomfortable. Two doctors, whom Brendan recognized, sat at the table, as did the head of Council security and her deputy.
One of the XaX senior Queens chaired the meeting. ‘I welcome all the attendees present at the formal inquiry about the circumstances surrounding the attack on the Blessed Ones. General Gebhezi, please report your findings.’
The general looked startled but soon recovered her composure. Brendan thought she looked no older than he was. She had taken their concerns seriously and promised to do her best to prevent an assassin attack. The general had a slight build, straight black hair to her shoulders, and black eyes. She wasn’t smiling as she had during their interview—’Honorable Queens, Councilors, and participants in the inquiry. We first noticed something was wrong when the monitoring center went offline. Our backup team found the center staff dead as well as the trio’s Paradigm guards. Two nearby XaX guards were also dead. Our team raced to intercept the assassins but encountered Brendan Murphy in the form of a ghost. He told my people he and the others required urgent medical care, and the assassins were dead.’
