Chapter 28: The Lawyer
Science Fantasy Sex Story: Chapter 28: The Lawyer - Three young people represent Earth in a battle with our powerful ancestors who seeded us and terraformed Earth. It is a battle against people who believe Earth has lost its way, and they intend to destroy Earth if it does not comply. They are so far ahead of us that they are Godlike but are biased and irrational and prepared to inflict pain without compunction.

Amazu Okparra sat at the table; his fingers knitted together before him. He was a fine-looking man with gray hair and a white streak extending from his forehead. He wore a white undercut with a patterned robe on top. His clothing and grooming were impeccable. He also smelled luscious. “You are always on time, Brendan; I appreciate people who don’t waste my time and efforts.”
The lawyer paused and looked intently at Brendan.
“You look puzzled and pensive; what is the problem?”
Brendan repeated what Bingill had told him.
Amazu listened intently before commenting.
“You and your friends find yourselves in an accelerator farm or a business incubator. Let me explain.”
“No need; I understand the concepts. Please explain the vested interests.”
“You and your friends began something that has the potential to destabilize the Paradigm. The conservatives will fight the ideas, but the lure of what you offer is irresistible. You risk being burned in the intensity of what you have unleashed.”
“What about Atra’s family? Will they offer to pay me off as Bingill suggested?”
Amazu laughed. “Atra is a strong-minded young woman, as is Imra. Both women stated unequivocally they would have nothing to do with men or children. Few people can handle Atra or Imra. Either individually is formidable; together, they can move mountains. Atra is an only child, as is Imra, and neither family had any prospects of an heir. Neither woman had any interest in men or having a child. Atra and Imra have always been close. The girls accepted conscription together, and nothing changed.”
“I had no idea about any of this. I have never taken a girl out. I used to be more attracted to men and could not accept it in myself. I chose to remain celibate. The doctors helped me change my sexual orientation when I came here. If you want me to sign something that I will never take any money from Atra’s family, I am happy to do so. I am a person who has simple tastes and no expensive interests. If the family detests me, let me know, and I will stay away from them and never make demands. It is not who I am.”
Amazu smiled. “When Atra excitedly told her mother she had a boyfriend, she was immediately suspicious and asked me to investigate you.”
“How could you do that, Amazu?”
“I have my ways and means. I learned Imra was attracted to you when she first met you, and she approached you. Then Atra met you and felt the same. You come from a happy, stable background, have an outstanding academic record, and enjoy the high regard of your teachers on Earth and on this ship. You have never displayed any interest in becoming wealthy. Your friend David is much the same as your sister.”
“I am impressed. How did Atra’s mother react?”
“I also told her the tale about Fryson Drayib and how your trio not only survived, you triumphed. That excited her interest and the interest of Atra’s father. They decided not to discourage the liaison. The families of these girls have fought to achieve what they have, and every day is a battle to keep it. They appreciate fighters.”
“I am pleased to hear they won’t oppose my involvement with Atra. I always saw myself as happily married, like my parents. I wanted to be a father and do the best I could for my children. You have no idea how painful it was when I discovered I had no interest in women and, as a teen, had a crush on a male teacher.”
“Brendan, they decided not to oppose you when investigating you.”
“They were friendly when we called; I thought it was more than tolerance.”
Amazu smiled. “They had initial reservations because of your background, but they stood back and didn’t interfere. Atra’s family continued to hear positive things about you. When you received official recognition from the Council, as did your friends, it legitimized you. You immediately moved from tolerable to possibly suitable. They do not accept others easily. Imra’s family was not yet decided about you and your motives. When they heard you had fathered children with both women, that was a turning point.”
“I’m pleased. I know it takes time to get to know people and get accepted. It’s an ongoing process. How did they react to the kidnapping attempt and then the recruitment of assassins?”
“That is a complex mix of issues.”
Amazu frowned and rubbed his brow with the back of his hand.
“First, their precious daughters are under threat. They are carrying the hopes of the family, an heir. They hate the Councilor with a passion. She runs the programs that seed planets, cultivates, and reap them. She is powerful and influential and loathes technology and development. She has many allies and is on course to lead the Council. The parents will do anything they can to thwart her and her interests. They then meet you and your family, and they are surprised that they like you and your parents and friends. They won’t trust you for a long time, and your relationship with them is fragile. Orjay, Atra’s father, called me this morning. The promised guards are on the way. Atra told him you completed the four-year development program, as did your friends, in weeks and are a good way through the fifty-year Developmental Program.
“Can you tell me a bit about her family?”
