Chapter 22: The Investigators Pursue the Issues

Science Fantasy Sex Story: Chapter 22: The Investigators Pursue the Issues - Three young people represent Earth in a battle with our powerful ancestors who seeded us and terraformed Earth. It is a battle against people who believe Earth has lost its way, and they intend to destroy Earth if it does not comply. They are so far ahead of us that they are Godlike but are biased and irrational and prepared to inflict pain without compunction.

Bingill roused herself as Ky rushed into the room, trailed by Seka.

‘Those were excellent questions, Brendan. I wasn’t asking the right questions. I went directly to physics and mathematics. I concentrated on the color of the skin and missed the beast,’ said Ky.

‘I agree. I asked about how to pursue the Developmental Program further. Prof. Kelrona, you and I are people who involve ourselves with detail. We easily miss the big picture,’ said Seka Shohsukit. ‘Brendan, you, your sister, and David are exceptional young people. Ashlyn has a singular mind. We must all be thankful that she ensured we moved ahead so quickly. Ky dear, do you think Brainiac designed the Neruk to be an interface so we could converse with the Brainiac?’

‘I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the case. The Neruk, when they form a carapace, operate much like any AI. We know of one other organism that exists partly in a dimension like our AIs, and only a tiny part is in our world.’

“That might not be correct, Ky. We only know part of the Neruk is in another dimension because it told us. Can you see the hidden part of the Neruk?” Brendan asked.

“Yes, I can detect it simply and image it in Wozo Bud.”

“I suspect many such animals do the bidding of Brainiacs throughout the universe,” said Brendan. “You told me of a sentient octopus.”

“Bingill, should we risk bringing in one of our biology colleagues to investigate the issue?”

“That is a question way beyond my authority. I will consult with the Admiral. I suspect she will want to learn more and vet several choices.”

“I strongly suggest you also talk with Prof. Nelselyn. I think there are significant medical possibilities she may not have considered. The viruses that carry the nanobots could be profoundly enhanced, as could the nanobots,” said Brendan. “I have an AI. Was it placed in my brain? Could we not place a massive AI in a person so that most of it is in another dimension?”

“Those are all brilliant ideas, my boy. I will register them for posterity. We can easily implement these revolutionary concepts. I’ll arrange a meeting with you, Kreia, and the biomedical engineers,” said Ky excitedly. I will register the ideas with you before I forget, Brendan, as things tend to slip my mind. Then, I will arrange the meeting.”

“Ashlyn, how was your day?” David asked as he unwrapped his meal.

“I had a fantastic day talking to the entity’s spirits. Where is Brendan?”

“He’s on the way here. He also had an exciting day and wants to talk about it.”

Brendan entered the room carrying a four-person heat pack. “Ashlyn, you were a busy little bee, according to Brainiac,” said Brendan, laughing.

Brendan updated Ashlyn and David about his day.

“I didn’t go much further than you guys,” said Ashlyn. “I heard from Kreia; you saw her and the engineers. What was that about?”

“I suggested they could improve the viruses and nanobots by keeping most of the device in Wozo Bud. I also suggested they could enhance the immune system similarly.”

“Great ideas, Bren,” said Ashlyn.

“I also suggested they could increase the size of our implanted AIs by using extensions in Wozo Bud. Then all they need is an interface in our brain.”

“The biomedical engineers nearly wet themselves; they were so excited. Atra tells me my ideas have gone viral. Ky told me he registered the concepts in my name.”

“What does that mean?” David asked.

Brendan frowned and shook his head. “I have no idea.”

“Is it like a patent?” Ashlyn asked.

Brendan shrugged.

“My cube is pinging every few minutes,” said Brendan.

“What is the ping about?”

Brendan handed it to her.

Ashlyn spent a few minutes looking at the holo-script. “From what I can see, companies are considering your concepts. There are numbers here, but they are too big to be money. They must relate to the concept.”

“How does money work in the Paradigm?” David asked. “I haven’t seen anyone pay for anything.”

“I asked Atra on our first date. Everyone gets a basic income for accommodation, food, and public transport. She said it was plenty for most people. As students, we get an additional stipend to have some luxuries. On the ship, we don’t pay for anything unless we go to the shopping area in the shopping precincts,” said Brendan. “We carry a chip in our right arm, and it identifies us, and we can pay for something. We missed the basic introduction to the ship and how the systems work.”
