Chapter 21: Investigations in the Laboratory

Science Fantasy Sex Story: Chapter 21: Investigations in the Laboratory - Three young people represent Earth in a battle with our powerful ancestors who seeded us and terraformed Earth. It is a battle against people who believe Earth has lost its way, and they intend to destroy Earth if it does not comply. They are so far ahead of us that they are Godlike but are biased and irrational and prepared to inflict pain without compunction.

Ashlyn and Brendan laughed when David replayed his interview on his cube.

“David, you sucked them in and spat them out without them realizing what trouble they were in.”

“You guys did very well, too. You weren’t pushovers. Ash, Danphis Bhideans is the only one who realizes the implications of what is happening. She will try to cover her backside. The others behave as if you are both stupid and innocent. It went well, but the Councilor has lots of resources to throw at the problem, and we don’t have reliable supporters,” David remarked, frowning. “Bren, can you ask your ladies to help clarify some of this for us? Perhaps they might know someone who can help us if they can’t?”

Brendan nodded. “I’m going out with Atra tonight. Join us for a double date.”

“I’m not up for anything for another few weeks, Bren; enjoy yourself,” said Ashlyn. “I expect more dirty dealing. We are a long way from being out of the swamp. The Council will get involved if the legal system takes her on.”

“I’m going to get clean and put on fresh clothes. I’ll talk with you guys tomorrow.” Brendan waved and rushed towards his room.

“Ash, a growing number within the Council are already involved. Many will know about us by now. The Council is political and is probably full of factions and backbiting. We can quickly become cannon fodder in a long-fought series of battles we know nothing about. We must find a way of finding out more about what we face,” said David. “I’ll get some food and eat with you in your room.”

David was back ten minutes later.

“Why do you think they are so preoccupied with our relationship?” Ashlyn asked.

“I don’t know. It makes no sense to me. Let’s look at what we do know. The investigators want to blame us, but they know Anayees made many mistakes. The investigators face several problems due to our discussion with the ship. They must know someone will scrutinize their actions, and they can’t cover Anayees’s stuff up.”

“What does Anayees want?”

“Prime Prof. Seka Shohsukit called for the investigators. Let’s assume she is loyal to Anayees Parnok. We know they have known each other for a long time. Let’s boil things down to consider the simplest possible motives. Anayees wants power, and Seka wants to become more famous and get a bigger department. How does Anayees intend to leverage what we have discovered with the Council? Why was she both excited and hostile?” David asked.

Ashlyn took a bite of her fishy-smelling meal and frowned while she chewed slowly. “I agree; that is a good approach. Let’s look at the elements of what we found. First, we discovered that Neruk is sentient. Then, we found they could learn our language and live symbiotically with us rather than as parasites. There is also evidence they stimulated telepathy in the beings of the Paradigm. Is this in the right direction?”

“Yes, it’s a good summary; carry on,” said David.

“Since that time, we have discovered that the levels of consciousness link to the known sixteen dimensions. Seka and Ky can also hear the spirits, as the Neruk call them. Seka knows the spirits have learned our language, and now we can speak with them. The Neruk left the hosts voluntarily in the test group and thrived in their new Neruk home. The Neruk can connect as a group mind and can enhance their abilities. Seka talks to them every day. That’s about it!” Ashlyn concluded. “Anayees knows we can learn from the Neruk and the so-called spirits. She doesn’t like the idea of something. The Paradigm can learn an enormous amount from the Neruk. If the spirits created the Neruk, the Paradigm would learn more from them. After all, they created the Neruk so they could educate the Paradigm. What does she have to lose?”

“Seka tells us this project excites her as they haven’t had another area with so much potential for a long time. Even the laid-back Prof. Khyrmin Kelrona is excited. Seka believes we can condense what took her fifty years into a couple of years. I can’t understand Anayees’s problem either,” said David. “That leads me to think we are missing vital information.”

“The Paradigm uses what they learn in the Development Program to help them advance. If they can teach people quickly how to access the Neruk and the spirits, they can move ahead even faster,” said Ashlyn.

“Yes, this is all true, but perhaps the problem is that these discoveries threaten the foundations of the Paradigm. There are sentient creatures ahead of the Paradigm, and the spirits might be Gods,” David suggested.

“We don’t know enough about the Council’s agendas,” said Ashlyn.

“That is a serious lack. At least some people are happy. Seka must feel she is in science heaven,” said David, laughing. “Ash, you’ve spoken to the entities the most. What do you think the agenda of the spirits might be?”

“I’ve done a lot of thinking about it. The First Nation people back home talk of spiritual guardians of the land, seeing themselves as spiritual custodians. I’m not an expert in the area, but I believe the first peoples share similar beliefs worldwide. They are attached to the planet. Unfortunately, we can’t communicate with the spirits when we are between planets,” said Ashlyn.

“We also know these beings can communicate with each other between planets, and they can learn. What do they want to achieve?” David looked at Ashlyn.

“What are the major questions we want to ask of the spirits? I must hurry and ask, as it won’t be long before every man and his dog speak with them.”

Ashlyn and David giggled much as they did when they were children.

David turned to Ashlyn, smiling. “Here are the questions I would like to ask: What are the aims of the spirits? How can we learn from them most efficiently? Do they approve of what the Paradigm is doing?”

Ashlyn yawned. “I’m too tired to do anything more this evening. Tomorrow, while you’re in class, I’ll speak with the spirits.”

“Ash, I’m also exhausted and going to bed. Consider how Anayees and Seka want to capitalize on what we found and avoid the pitfalls. Let’s find out about the agenda of the entities tomorrow and consider how we can learn more about the Council. I predict that the head of the investigators from whatever spy organization they come from wants to find out what the Neruk plan is and if the spirits will be a threat to the Paradigm. What does Seka want to achieve by bringing in the spies?”

David leaned over and kissed Ashlyn on the cheek. “Tomorrow, we must talk about our relationship.”

“Yes, dear,” said Ashlyn, laughing. “I also want to learn about our relationship now that everybody else is interested.” Ashlyn sighed. “I don’t want to become pessimistic like Brendan, but I think we are heading deeper into trouble.”

David shrugged and waved. “All we can do is try and keep ahead of the pack and, if possible, buy a shotgun.”
