Chapter 19: Ashlyn and the Councilor
Science Fantasy Sex Story: Chapter 19: Ashlyn and the Councilor - Three young people represent Earth in a battle with our powerful ancestors who seeded us and terraformed Earth. It is a battle against people who believe Earth has lost its way, and they intend to destroy Earth if it does not comply. As threatened, Councilor Anayees Yarinkalosa Parnok returned to the ship two weeks later. In one of the conference rooms, she met with David, Brendan, and Ashlyn, as well as with Prof. Kreia Nelselyn and Prime Prof. Seka Shohsukit.
“My advisors and colleagues are undecided about a formal declaration of proof of Neruk. We are considering a new category of achievement for what you did. However, Ashlyn Murphy, I charge you with careless negligence; you volunteered for a task you did not know the consequences of. I will allow you to defend yourself. Make your statement, and then we will proceed.”
“I know from my experience the Paradigm views life as cheap. The Paradigm killed a quarter of the people on my planet, and I knew full well I might be putting my life at risk. I observed Prof. Fryson Drayib and concluded he was nasty, malicious, and vindictive. I support those close to me, even if I risk my life. I expect I will receive a nasty punishment. I’m unsure what it will teach me, as I will do the same again. I took a risk, and I received an incredible reward. That is the nature of risk. Thank you for the opportunity you’ve given me, Councilor, to make a statement.”
“The Paradigm behaves humanely. We care deeply for our citizens. I view your statements as insolent and inaccurate. We pruned your planet, removing the deadwood. Despite your impudence, I believe you demonstrate potential and have contributed scientifically to the Paradigm. You did not prove that you accurately determined the risk that faced you. You could’ve asked what peril you were to meet. For this, I will punish you,” said the Councilor. “However, I will show compassion and permit you to remain on the ship.”
“She has a punishment stick that delivers excruciating pain, Ashlyn. She has a cruel streak and has wanted to use the stick for years. She believes she can use it here with impunity,” said Shonshash. “I cannot prevent this stick from delivering something to you. You will feel intense agony. I will do my best to help you. Make a statement along with the instructions I will give you.”
Shonshash instructed Ashlyn on what to say next.
“Do you have any last words, Ashlyn Murphy, before you face punishment?” The Councilor asked.
“I invoke the powers of the Ayed, the Supreme Authority who Judges the Paradigm. If this judgment is false and delivered with malice, may the punisher be punished in her name?”
“What is this nonsense? Explain yourself, girl!”
“Ayed is an advanced being who lives in Wozo Bud’s dimension on Obiastus. She is one of the beings who has attempted to guide the Paradigm,” Ashlyn explained.
“Prof. Shohsukit, are you aware of any of this nonsense?” Councilor Parnok asked.
Prof. Shohsukit nodded. “I have heard of this being from the Neruk Reessu, which resides in David Cohen.”
“I have my grave doubts about these so-called spirits. Nevertheless, I permitted this project to proceed as we cannot avoid looking at what we can learn from other sentient beings. This invocation of a spirit exceeds the bounds of my credibility. We will move on, and I will administer punishment. Ashlyn Murphy, remain in your seat. I will stand behind you and deliver the punishment. Medical treatment cannot reverse the effect of the punishment.”
Ashlyn braced herself as well as she could.
Brendan watched the Councilor closely. Her behavior disgusted him. He wanted to hurt the Councilor as much as she intended to hurt Ashlyn. The rage burned in him. How could the Councilor think the Paradigm was compassionate? They were only pruning the deadwood from planets! He was stuck in the Paradigm, and a seriously deluded woman was about to hurt his sister.
Brendan looked around. Yes, he could see the faint haze of the cloaked guards. Brendan loathed the feeling of powerlessness. He could do nothing and felt ashamed he couldn’t help her. He or David would have done the same as she did if the roles had been reversed.
“I will take her punishment for her,” said Brendan, surprising himself.
Councilor Parnok smiled predatorily. “Then I shall punish you both; you are even more foolish than your sister!”
This is ridiculous. These people are tyrants, and this woman is a sadist. If she is one of the leaders, then the Paradigm is intolerable. My worst fear about these animals is valid.
“If my treatment is unfair, I call upon the arbiters in the other dimensions; may they punish you as they see fit,” said Brendan.
“What does that mean?” Councilor Parnok asked angrily.
“We are accountable for our actions. I call upon an impartial judge to examine what you do and judge you as you judge us. Some on our planet believed a God held them accountable. Others knew they were held to account by the state or the federal government. None of us act in isolation. The Paradigm believes it is the ultimate authority. That may be the case, but it may not be. I doubt Councilors act without other Councilors moderating their actions. My sister and I appeal to those we believe helped you along the way to act if they think you do not work within their values.”
“What do you know of these arbiters?”
