Chapter 16: Trials and Tribulation
Science Fantasy Sex Story: Chapter 16: Trials and Tribulation - Three young people represent Earth in a battle with our powerful ancestors who seeded us and terraformed Earth. It is a battle against people who believe Earth has lost its way, and they intend to destroy Earth if it does not comply. They are so far ahead of us that they are Godlike but are biased and irrational and prepared to inflict pain without compunction.

The three friends followed the holo-arrow to the gym.
“Ah, yes, I have been expecting you. Excellent, you are early! My name is Imra Farkrana Arilemna Ianbanise Phelorna Genlamin. You looked puzzled—you are not familiar with our naming system. On this cultivation ship, they identify me as Imra Farkrana. The rest of the name indicates where I’m from. I come from the planet Genlamin. The rest shows family ties on both sides. Call me Imra.”
Most regarded David and Brendan as tall. Imra towered twenty centimeters above them, and she looked like she could knock out a mule with one punch and then kick-start a Boeing. Imra had muscles on her muscles. She had a square face, a narrow but square jaw, two startling emerald green eyes, and short straw blonde hair. She wore a slinky bodysuit with transparent panels. Imra moved with fluid grace as she showed them the gym assessment machine.
To his surprise, Brendan found himself strongly attracted to her. She looked powerful but also feminine, and she had a melodic voice and a gentle manner.
“This is a weird machine. Are you sure I must climb inside and lie on that torture table?” Ashlyn asked, grinning.
Imra laughed with a tinkling sound, much as you expected from a tiny woman. “Get inside, woman, and shut your mouth. You will delay the torture unnecessarily. We have ways and means of forcing you to do as we say.”
Imra laughed uproariously. “I couldn’t wait to find an opportunity to say that. I saw it in one of your ridiculous comedies from Earth.”
David and Brendan laughed.
Ashlyn grumped as she squeezed herself into the machine.
“Now, you two, a little less levity, please—you have your machines, and the torture will start shortly.” Imra laughed again.
Twenty minutes later, none laughed after Imra cheerfully released them from the machines.
Ashlyn groaned loudly. “Torture would’ve been better than that.”
Imra canted her head from side to side, smiling. “Meh, that’s what they all say. It only gets worse.”
“You are on the low side of our expectations of fitness, David and Ashlyn, but you must work on your strength. Brendan, you have more to go, so I must give you extra coaching. Come to see me when you finish your studies; I’ll prepare another session for you. Then we will eat.”
Brendan looked startled but nodded his head.
“You have a way about you, Imra; we’ve never managed to get Brendan to exercise,” said David.
Imra laughed. “That is sufficient for your workout today. We will build up your strength and stamina. You did the equivalent of two hours of strenuous exercise. Now, we must go to the recovery area.”
Imra set a cracking pace across the gym. She strode, and the others trotted. Brendan looked close to collapsing as they reached their destination.
“Pick a booth and close the door. Stand there until you hear a beep-beep sound, and the AI says you are ready.” Imra put her arm around Brendan and led him into a booth. “I’ll sort you out, dear. It may take a while, but I know what I’m doing.”
“That exercise machine nearly killed me,” said Brendan as he poured himself his sixth glass of juice. “I can’t believe how much better I felt after Imra sorted me out in that booth. These people aren’t shy. Not a soul wore any clothing in the sauna or the cleansers.”
“Yes, brother dear, we saw how helpful Imra was. I hope you survive the encounter at the end of the day. Imra isn’t backward about coming forward,” said Ashlyn. She turned to David, grinning. “Imra is the first woman that attracts Brendan, and he picks an Amazon.”
David laughed with her.
Brendan looked like a rat in a corner facing twenty cats.
“Very funny, you two—can you see how much I am laughing?”
The other two smiled broadly.
“Come on, let’s go, David; it’s time for medicine 101,” said Ashlyn.
“I’ve got an interview with Prime Prof. Seka Shohsukit. She’s supposed to be the el supremo, the ultimate professor and final arbiter of everything in the Development Path. She also has a professor of physics with her. I don’t know his name yet. Shohsukit is supposed to be demanding and exacting. She doesn’t believe the course is comprehensive enough and wants to double the time we spend learning the content. I’ll hear the bad news in ten minutes. She will also design the trial we do with the Neruk.”
Prime Prof. Seka Shohsukit was a tiny woman, barely a meter and a half tall. She had wavy silvery-gray hair and wore a lavish but unusual multilayer outfit. She reminded Brendan of what he thought a hippie would evolve into if she were highly successful. Her eyes were pitch black, and he could not distinguish her pupils from her iris. Her voice was that of a big woman and resonated from the walls. Alongside her sat a disheveled, lanky man with fuzzy strands of brown hair dotted with green. His face was pockmarked, and he sniffed several times.
Prof Shohsukit introduced the man as the illustrious physicist Prof Khyrmin Kelrona. She explained she often worked with him on complex projects. He specialized in the techniques of measuring changes in consciousness.
Unexpectedly, Prof. Shohsukit turned to Prof. Khyrmin Kelrona and shouted. “For heaven’s sake, Khyrmin, I am sick of that sniffing. Use this, and after this interview, I’ll take you to the medical center to fix your sniffing. I will not take no for an answer.”
Prof. Shohsukit handed Prof. Kelrona a small tubule. Khyrmin Kelrona delicately picked up the tubule and looked at it. “I’m not sure I need it. The situation is not yet desperate.”
“Shove it up into your bloody nose, or I will do it for you.”
Khyrmin Kelrona looked at her speculatively and decided to put it in his nostril. The tubule hissed, and he shouted, “By all the ash in the nebula, that was disgusting.” Kelrona held the tubule as if it were radioactive.
Prof. Shohsukit leaned over to him, grabbed the tubule, and shoved the other side into his nostril. “I feel nothing.” Shohsukit giggled and raised her eyebrows, then winked at Brendan. She slowly lifted her hand palm down.
Kelrona was grimacing, and he was screwing up his nose and then wiping his nose with the back of his hand. His eyes were watering. He again rubbed his nose with the back of his hand. “Dammit, woman, are you trying to kill me!”
Brendon was battling to restrain his laughter. They behaved like three-year-olds.
“Don’t dammit woman me, you chronic sniffer. If you ventilated your disgusting laboratory properly, it wouldn’t irritate your nose, but I’ll fix it if you don’t. Don’t argue with me; you are going to medical to get your nose rebored.”
Kelrona wrinkled up his nose and sat with his eyes closed, breathing deeply, his lips pursed.
“I don’t want to go to medical—I don’t have the time. We have too much work to do. Blasted woman and her ridiculous timelines. Why are you punishing me?”
Shohsukit looked up at the ceiling and hummed.
“Those quacks will hang onto me,” Khyrmin whined.
“You have an astonishing intellect but can be such a fool. You know why.”
“Ok, so I postponed two previous maintenance sessions,” Khyrmin admitted.
“How many? Was it two?”
“Maybe twenty or so?”
Prof. Shohsukit laughed uproariously. “You haven’t been to medical for a hundred thousand years. I bet you’ve not done your exercise. I’ve been patient with you. Some would say too patient. We have a herculean task ahead of us. You are not in good condition. Today, my patience ran out. Twenty-thousand years I have sat and listened to you sniff. Today, after I saw that damn woman, my patience ran out. I can’t have you sniffing and stuffing up sensitive experiments, and I won’t let you die. It’s too much work to get used to another scientist. After this, we go to the medical clinic.”
Prof. Shohsukit looked at Brendan. “Have we done the interview?”
“Prof., I am tempted to say we’ve done it twice, and you said I was your most promising candidate, but I must say no. I don’t believe we have concluded the interview. You began explaining the course, mentioned the Neruk, and then Prof. Kelrona sniffed.”
“Young man, I believe you have some potential. Those are precisely the areas I wished to cover. Describe any relevant experience you’ve had in the development area.”
