Chapter 13: The Neruk Process

Science Fantasy Sex Story: Chapter 13: The Neruk Process - Three young people represent Earth in a battle with our powerful ancestors who seeded us and terraformed Earth. It is a battle against people who believe Earth has lost its way, and they intend to destroy Earth if it does not comply. They are so far ahead of us that they are Godlike but are biased and irrational and prepared to inflict pain without compunction.

A month later, on the day of the challenge, Brendan, Ashlyn, and David ate breakfast in the canteen.

“How are you guys feeling?” Ashlyn asked.

“I don’t know how to work with Drayib after this,” said Brendan. “I’d hate to experience what he went through.”

“What do you mean?” David asked.

“I met up with several students in the Development Programs during my break yesterday. I’ve seen them a few times, and they were shocked to hear Fryson Drayib required us to prove Neruk. I asked them what they knew about Drayib.”

“Do they know anything about him?” Ashlyn asked.

“A couple of them are descendants of those from the Theyeb Theocracy. Their parents knew Fryson’s history. He was a devout young man who was traumatized by one of the religious leaders and developed a hatred for religion. They don’t know details of what happened, but his parents, his best friend, and his friend’s parents died.”

“How did he survive?” Ashlyn asked.

“They placed him in an institution. As soon as he could, Fryson joined the resistance and rose through the ranks.”

“How did he get to the Paradigm?” Ashlyn asked.

“A Paradigm ship was scouting the far reaches of our galaxy. The defense forces challenged the Paradigm ship when the scout ship came out of transdimensional space near Ferois, the home planet. The theocracy asked them if they were devoutly religious people. When they said they came in peace but were atheists, the Theyeb attacked the scout ship.”

“I’m sure that wasn’t wise,” said David. “Did they send in the cubes?”

“The Paradigm ship backed off but sent cylinders, the precursors to the cubes, into the atmosphere. The system worked but was slower and less efficient than the current method.”

“How advanced was the theocracy?” David asked.

“As far as I can establish, it was far ahead of Earth.”

“What level had they reached?” David asked.

“I don’t know how to judge that. I asked a few questions to get an idea. They had mastered faster-than-light travel.”

“What happened?” Ashlyn asked.

“The Theyeb found a way to neutralize the virus. That led to a bloody war. Subsequently, the Paradigm eradicated most of the priests. They identified Fryson Drayib as a hero of the resistance.”

“You believe he is repeating the cycle of abuse?” David asked.

“Yes, he is handing on what he received,” said Brendan. “Just like the cycles of pedophile priests. They get abused as choirboys, and then when they become priests, they do the same.”

“It’s different. Drayib wants to eradicate anyone he identifies as a religious believer. How does he behave with the other students?” Ashlyn asked.

“They say he is unpleasant, grumpy, and irritable with them for at least a year. Gradually, he treats them a bit better. He never becomes pleasant. They say it is a wonderful course and we will learn an enormous amount. They believe it is worth it in the end,” said Brendan. “The Neruk process is allegedly illegal. They were horrified to hear the professor required us to prove Neruk.”

“We’d better go; it’s time,” said Ashlyn. “We are not in a position to fight the legality of the process. Fryson Drayib has all the power.”

They walked along the now-familiar route to the hospital. The ship’s interior was nothing like Brendan’s expectations of an alien ship. There were no ugly metal walls and floors, and the interiors were tastefully constructed. Brendan concluded it was a luxurious home built by a regime with much money to burn. Each part of the ship had a different character. In this section, the floors were marble, and the walls were soft, light wood. Lighting sources were never visible. The art was abstract, and the colors were vivid. The ship’s interior was striking and attractive.

A flashing hologram of a green sphere appeared and led them along a black granite passageway to a heavy, massive, highly polished door with intricate carvings of different beings. Brendan once saw a similar entry in an exotic temple in a movie.

The holo-image hesitated in front of the door, flashing a slow pulse. The trio waited silently, deep in thought.

The door opened. It was as thick as a door on a bank vault.

Michael slipped out. “Three Councilors arrived unexpectedly. They will remain until after the interviews the day after tomorrow. Fryson Drayib did not expect them and was as nervous as a cat on a hot tin roof. He’s hyperactive and twitching. When you see the observers bow and remain standing until they ask you to sit at the table.”

Michael led the way inside. The door moaned as it moved behind them, then closed with a resounding thump. Michael remained behind them as the trio bowed and stood behind their designated seats.

The room smelled sharp and tangy, like citrus and electrical sparks. Three bowls were on the oddly shaped table.

The two women Councilors wore gorgeous, opulent gowns suitable for a ball run by ostentatious plutocrats. The male Councilor was much younger. He wore an extravagant midnight blue robe open to his waist and a silver bodysuit beneath.
