Chapter 3

A week later, a royal carriage arrived with a nervous and slightly scared, 6 year old Flower in front of the castle of Orinova. The royal guards opened the door and helped the princess down from her carriage. Prince Rock stood at the top of the stairs trying to look imposing and important, but failing. He still looked like a little kid playing dress up pretending to be someone important.
Flower laughed internally as she walked up the stairs.
“Greetings. I am Crown Prince Rock of the Realm Orinova.” he said, again trying to sound important to impress the cute girl he was meeting for the first time.
The princess made a curtsey and introduced herself. “Greeting Crown Prince Rock. I am Crown Princess Flower of the Realm Vegana.”
The two kids didn’t know what to do next so there was an awkward pause in their meeting. It was broken when Queen Zia came out and greeted the two kids.
“Princess. Welcome. I’m Queen Zia, Rock’s mother and I am so glad to see you again. Come in.” She said, hugging the little girl trying to welcome her and assure her that she had nothing to be scared of.
“Now Flower, I know that we don’t know each other, but I have been friends with your parents for many years and I hope that you will consider me your mother while you stay with us.” Queen Zia said, holding Flower’s hand, leading her through the castle to the nursery where the other children live.
“Really? You want to be my mom?” she asked, holding the queen’s hand looking up at her beautiful face.
“Yes I do honey.”
“Thanks. Mom.” Flower said, blushing yet very happy inside.
When they arrived at the nursery the queen opened the door to the sound of kids playing inside. “Consider these your brother and sister. This is Max and Lily, and you already met Rock.”
The two younger kids waved and then rushed to their mother to get hugs then meet Flower.
“I like your name. I like flowers.” Lily said, meeting Flower.
“Thanks. I like Lily as well. You know, lily is a type of flower.” Flower said to her new little sister.
“I heard that.” she said, smiling then taking her hand and pulling her toward the corner of the room to a play set. Suddenly, her nervousness was all gone and the playing began.
School started shortly afterward, Rock and Flower were in a class with other kids their age. The first half of the day was reading, writing and arithmetic. The afternoon was spent outside doing sports and playing.
