Chapter 37

Coming of Age Sex Story: Chapter 37 - This is the second book in the Wrinkle in Time Trilogy. It is a stand-alone book with an all-new cast that embraces getting a second chance, a do-over. Fortunately, this time, Xander had a cheat: life experience. I’d become the old man who no longer gave a fuck about others’ opinions. The problem was that by the time I learned this, I died … or so I thought. I found myself thrown back in time to do it all over again. Could I get it right this time?

Xander regretted what he’d done with Kate. Well, that wasn’t entirely true because their fun had been some of the best he’d ever had. Xander would’ve regretted passing up the opportunity to be with someone that spectacular, though he should’ve pulled out, at the very least.

But what was done was done.

He was also concerned about Mike hooking up with a college girl. Xander felt a bit guilty about turning him to the dark side and Mike cheating on Barb, but that was on Mike. He was a big boy and made his own decisions about what was best for him.

It was just something else Xander had no control over.

That being said, there was something he couldn’t let slide, and that was Donnie. Mike had mentioned that Donnie had invited him to go to a party in Hogeye, a little community that didn’t show on most maps. Since Mike didn’t go, he couldn’t tell Xander anything about the goings-on there. So Xander decided to go there and see if anything unexplained had happened to any of the girls who had attended the party.

If something had happened, Xander would never forgive himself for not stopping Donnie when he’d had a chance. But he thought he’d scared Donnie straight by capturing his video admission and the subsequent beatdown. Still, in the back of his mind, Xander worried Donnie wouldn’t ever change. If Donnie thought he could get away with drugging a girl and having sex with her, he would.

Besides, if Bloody Xander wasn’t a hallucination, Donnie could be much worse. Xander had to find out because he would go to the police if he learned Donnie had broken his word.

If his GPS hadn’t told him Xander was in Hogeye, he would’ve missed it because he didn’t see any signs. He saw a few houses with cars parked in the front yard. One auto looked vintage and didn’t have any wheels, apparently a long-forgotten project.

There was a small grocery and liquor store that looked like dozer bait but was open all the same. Xander spotted a combination gas station and hamburger joint, so he pulled in and parked. When he walked in, three people turned and stared at him. Xander felt like he was in a horror movie, and he’d walked in on the creepy locals who would soon be cutting him up with a chainsaw.

“Sorry to bother you, but a friend of mine went to a party around here and left his wallet. He asked me to come and find it, but he wasn’t clear where the party was,” Xander said.

“Who might your friend be?” the woman at the gas counter asked.

“Donnie, Donnie Wilson. I have a picture of him,” Xander offered and pulled out his phone.

He showed it to her as the other two came to take a look.

“That might be him,” the young guy who looked like the cook said.

“You need to go to the Hogeye Campground. It’s about a mile off the side road,” the woman said and pointed.

“Thank you,” Xander said.

“Ain’t you going to buy something?” the third woman asked.

“I guess I should. What do you suggest?” Xander asked.

“I make the best cheeseburger around. How about that and an order of fries?” the cook asked.

“I could eat,” Xander said.

He took a seat at the counter. The woman got him a drink and then began to quiz Xander.

“Where are you from?”

Ruth Bettis had just flown into Fayetteville and arrived at the farm. Her cousin Gertie had gone to a party at the campground, and though Gertie didn’t remember much when she woke up, she realized she’d been violated. The family called Ruth to come track down whoever had done this. Her boss, Fritz, had been understanding and had given her the time off.

As soon as she arrived, Ruth told everyone that she and her brothers would take care of this. The unspoken message was that if anyone knew anything, they’d best call her. Everyone knew her brothers were on the wild side, and only Ruth seemed able to keep them in line. If no one called her, she would turn them loose.

So she wasn’t surprised when her phone rang.

“Ruth, it’s Minnie, down at the gas station. A young man just came in looking for his friend’s wallet. He showed me a picture of the guy, and it might be the one you all are looking for.”

“Where is he now?”

“Clarence is making him a burger. We told him to go to the campground,” Minnie said.

“I’ll head there now. When he leaves, give me a call,” Ruth said.

“Yes, ma’am.”

The burger was an onion smash burger with cheddar cheese on a toasted bun. The fries were shoestring and crispy. Xander was surprised at how good the food was.

When Xander finished eating, he thanked everyone for their hospitality and thought he might come over again for the food.

The campground was more of an empty, open, dirt parking lot. There were no signs, so Xander pulled in to make sure he was in the right place, parking in front of the house he assumed served as the office. As Xander got out of his van, he heard a diesel truck laboring down the road. When it turned into the lot, he saw an old pickup truck that had seen better days.

When it stopped, a thin, petite, younger woman got out and walked up to him.

“You the boy?” she asked.

“Sorry—” was all Xander got out.

Quicker than a rattler strike, the girl hit him in the gut, doubling Xander over. Before he could recover, a burly guy wearing a pair of overalls and no shirt grabbed him and tossed him into the back of the truck. Sitting back there was a crazy-looking man with a beard and hair sticking out all over the place, picking his fingernails with a razor-sharp Bowie knife.

“You sit there real quiet like. Our sister has some questions that need answering.”

Xander just stared at the knife and nodded.

The crazy woman got behind the wheel and drove out of the parking lot like her ass was on fire. She didn’t bother to slow down as she flew out of the parking lot and down the road. Xander couldn’t hear himself think over the roar of the truck’s engine.

They rocketed down the road until they came to a dirt track. Xander’s teeth about jarred from his head as they bounced to their destination, eventually pulling into a hog farm that stunk to high heaven. The woman pulled the truck into a barn before bringing it to a sudden stop and turning off the engine.

As soon as the truck came to a halt, the two guys pulled Xander out of the back of the truck like a two-year-old. They carried him to a chair and dropped him into it. The guy in overalls brought the woman another chair, and she sat across from Xander.

“I’m going to make you a deal: I’m going to ask you some questions, and you are going to tell me the truth. If I think you’re lying, I’ll let my brothers chop you up and feed you to the hogs a piece at a time. We’ll start with your left ear.

“Do we understand each other?” Ruth asked.

Xander nodded.

“I can’t hear you.”

“Yes,” Xander managed.

“It’s ‘yes, ma’am,’” Ruth corrected.

“Yes, ma’am.”

“Tell me about Donnie,” Ruth said.

For the next hour and a half, Xander told Ruth everything he knew about Donnie. He even provided her with the videos he’d taken to help put Donnie in the frame for raping her cousin.
