Chapter 18

Coming of Age Sex Story: Chapter 18 - This is the second book in the Wrinkle in Time Trilogy. It is a stand-alone book with an all-new cast that embraces getting a second chance, a do-over. Fortunately, this time, Xander had a cheat: life experience. I’d become the old man who no longer gave a fuck about others’ opinions. The problem was that by the time I learned this, I died … or so I thought. I found myself thrown back in time to do it all over again. Could I get it right this time?

Over the next few weeks, West Fork beat Charleston and Greenland to secure their spot in the state playoffs. In the first round, they drew Prescott and lost 42–14. Prescott eventually won second place, and the game showed West Fork how much they would have to improve to beat the best in the state.

With football season over, Xander’s thoughts turned to the Fall Fling Dance. He’d gone stag to the Homecoming Dance, but he wanted to ask someone to go with him for this one.

He’d tried to talk to Pippa after Bobby’s party, but she scurried off like a scared rabbit every time he looked her way. When he asked Connie about it, she laughed hysterically and walked away. He was glad he could at least provide comic relief.

It appeared that, for once, he was the last one in their group to ask someone or get asked. He even tried Carol, but she said she didn’t do school dances.

He’d given up and decided to skip the dance when Connie ambushed him at lunch.

“Xander Thornwood, I want you to meet Tina Bishop, your date to Fall Fling.”

Tina was a senior who Xander didn’t remember from his last time for good reason: she was one of the school’s high achievers whose only interest was preparing for college. Tina was a tiny girl of five-foot nothing; if she weighed more than a hundred pounds, he would be shocked.

“I told you I didn’t want to attend the school dance,” Tina complained.

Xander turned and looked at Connie, who held up a finger as she replied to Tina.

“You also said you were worried about making friends in college, and part of making friends is being able to talk to guys in social situations. What better way to learn than by doing? Consider this an experiment in social dynamics,” Connie said.

“But he’s a freshman and a jock. That should disqualify him as a potential subject. What would we even talk about?” Tina asked.

Xander once again looked at Connie because he felt Tina had valid points.

“Kiss him,” Connie challenged.

“I’m not kissing him!” Tina said much too loudly, because now everyone was watching them.

“If you kiss him and don’t like it, then I’ll find you someone else,” Connie said.

“Okay, fine,” Tina huffed and glared at Xander. “If you try to stick your tongue into my mouth, I’ll bite it off.”

One more time, he looked at Connie, who nodded.

“She will.”

Xander shrugged. He would give the girl a thrill and let her kiss him, and then he’d be off the hook.

Tina grabbed the back of his neck, pulled him down, and gave him a quick peck. Xander assumed the experiment was over and tried to stand back up, but she had a death grip and pulled him down again. This time, she put him in a serious lip-lock. Tina parted her lips, and he felt her tongue push between his lips. Xander worried this might be a ploy so she could take off the tip of his tongue. After a moment, the old man said, ‘Fuck it,’ and he gave Tina what she wanted.

She was panting when she finally released him, and the entire lunchroom erupted.

Tina held out her hand and said, “Unlock your phone and give it to me so I can put my number in it.”

A stunned Xander did as he was told. Connie patted him on the head like he was a good boy.

Once Tina finished, she handed him back his phone, and she and Connie walked off.

“What the fuck just happened?” Xander asked himself.

His ‘self’ had no idea, but it would seem he had a date.

Xander had talked to his grandfather and had him open an investor account. He’d put ninety percent of his money into it and bought shares in the Global X AI fund. He’d remembered that technology stocks had outperformed all other sectors for the next few years. Funds focused on AI technology had earned anywhere from ten to fifty percent returns per year.

Xander figured he had a brief window to take advantage of this trend. He remembered some wild stat that said the AI industry market had grown from about $35 million to $1.4 billion in ten years. That was by far the best return he could think of.

Since he didn’t know which companies had gained the most, he decided to invest in a fund that focused on buying global AI stocks.

After AI stock growth slowed, Xander planned to invest in energy companies, looking forward to a time when nuclear power plants would be approved again. AI server farms needed cheap, reliable energy sources and would soon start straining available capacity. The French had been building nuclear plants for years, showing that the new designs were safe.

Of course, people freaked out at first, but by the time he died, they couldn’t imagine not having them due to the sharp increases in fossil fuel prices.

At first, many still wanted to explore other alternatives like wind and solar. However, they were still years away from being financially viable on a large scale, and the need for power was immediate. So, nuclear was approved, causing utility company stocks to skyrocket.

Xander rechecked his growth rate. He was now six-one and weighed 165 pounds. Based on his pictures, much of the added weight had gone to his arms and chest. He was disappointed that other things had stopped growing—it looked like it wouldn’t reach the magic eight inches he’d hoped for. But comparatively speaking, this was much better than what he’d had before.

One thing he was stoked about was shaving about once a month. Not that he wanted a beard, but it was a sign he was growing up.

Speaking of facial hair, many of the senior guys had decided they’d try to grow mustaches. The key word was ‘try.’ They should’ve gotten together and tried to grow them over the summer to see if they could. The word that best described their results was ‘creepy.’

If they’d asked Xander, his best advice would be to shave them off.

Xander thought he’d spend time with Tina the next day, but he didn’t see her in the lunchroom. He wolfed down that day’s mystery meat and then went looking for her. He found her sitting in the hall, eating carrot and celery sticks while she read Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor E. Frankl.

Xander walked up beside her and leaned against the wall. Tina was oblivious to his presence, allowing him to check her out. Her blouse gaped open at the top, and he could see almost to her navel. Tina was flat-chested, which meant she didn’t need a bra, so her gaping blouse exposed her long, thick nipples, which caused a stirring in his pants.

“What’s it about?” Xander asked, startling Tina.

She glanced up and asked, “What are you asking?”

“The book. I asked what is it about.”

“Oh,” she said, then turned the book over and looked at the cover. “This is just some light reading. It’s the story of this guy who was in Nazi death camps where his parents, brother, and pregnant wife all died. Later in life, he became a psychiatrist and practiced what he called logotherapy. Fundamentally, he said that our lives are driven by discovering and pursuing what we find meaningful. It’s about obtaining a spiritual revival in the face of horrific suffering.”

The stirring in his pants stopped upon hearing that. He sat down next to Tina, and they talked quietly, getting to know each other. Once Tina got onto a topic she was interested in, she would open up. He learned much more than he ever wanted to know about her physics project.

If some nerd boy ever got brave enough to ask her out, he’d be lucky, Xander decided. For him, it just reconfirmed her initial assessment of him being a dumb jock; even though he got good grades, he was nowhere close to being in her class, smarts-wise.

The bell rang to send them to class. Xander told her he’d bring his lunch the next day and join her, which earned him a smile.

Since it was getting colder, Xander returned to riding the bus; he would lift during PE and again in his garage when he got home. After that, he would work at his grandfather’s job site before going home to shower.

He was on his way home when Connie stopped him.

“Good job today.”

He assumed she was talking about sitting with Tina at lunch.

“I thought we should talk a bit before the dance,” Xander said.

“That’s exactly what she needs. I was surprised she was even able to talk to you. Normally, she freezes up when getting to know someone.”

“If the dance turns out to be a bust, do you plan to be there to support her?” Xander asked.

“You afraid you’ll say or do something to upset her?” Connie asked.

“I’ve done dumber things, but I’ll try not to. If Tina is as fragile as you say...” he said, trailing off with a shrug.

“I’ll be there.”

“Then you’ll save me a dance?” Xander asked.

“No.”

“Then Pippa will?” Xander teased.

“No. You will dance only with Tina.”

Xander frowned and said, “I’ll be the perfect date.”

“I know you will,” Connie said, then changed the topic. “I hear your mom’s dating Jack Jackson.”

That was news to him because his mother had been awfully stealthy about her dating life. Besides, he had no idea who Jack was. And what was with the first and last names?

“I had no idea. Who is Mr. Jackson?” Xander asked.

“He owns Jackson’s Lumberyard. He was just named one of Fayetteville’s most eligible bachelors.”

“Yay, Mom, I guess. She’s been keeping her dating life under wraps with Izzy and me.”

“Don’t tell her I was the one who told you because I don’t think she likes me,” Connie said.

“My mom likes you fine. Now, if she caught us again, that might change. We’ll have to be extra careful in the future.”

“Get that thought out of your head. I’m never doing revenge porn again,” Connie said. “Besides, you have a new girlfriend.”

Xander’s eyebrows came together.

“Who says I have a new girlfriend? I thought this was just a dance.”

“We’ll see,” was Connie’s parting shot.

He worried because she was laughing at him as she walked away. What did Connie know that he didn’t?
