Chapter 16

Coming of Age Sex Story: Chapter 16 - This is the second book in the Wrinkle in Time Trilogy. It is a stand-alone book with an all-new cast that embraces getting a second chance, a do-over. Fortunately, this time, Xander had a cheat: life experience. I’d become the old man who no longer gave a fuck about others’ opinions. The problem was that by the time I learned this, I died … or so I thought. I found myself thrown back in time to do it all over again. Could I get it right this time?

Xander rode his bike to school on the first day of classes because there wasn’t a bus to take him home after football practice, and his mom had to work. He also wanted to get in early to lift before school started.

He walked into the weight room and found two JV guys already lifting: Tommy Walker and Brad Hill.

Xander hesitated when he saw Tommy because he wasn’t sure whether the guy still held a grudge from the first day of practice when Xander bested him.

“Get your butt in here and start lifting,” Tommy said.

Brad was a muscular linebacker who looked like he lived in the gym.

“I hear you were named a starter for the freshman team at running back and defensive end. Are you in here to gain points with the coaches?” Brad asked.

“No, I’m just used to working out before school, so I thought I’d continue doing it,” Xander said.

“You do know football players lift during PE, don’t you?” Tommy asked.

“No, I didn’t,” Xander admitted. “But I can do both.”

Brad laughed.

“We might have found someone as crazy as we are, Brad. Okay, Xander, rotate in,” Tommy said.

After showering, Xander left to find his locker. They put all the freshmen together with their lockers in alphabetical order. That meant he was next to Carol Trotter, followed by Pippa Turner and John Tyler. When Xander found it, John walked up.

“Didn’t see you on the bus. I was afraid you weren’t here today.”

“I rode my bike so I could lift before school.”

“You know about PE, don’t you?” John asked.

“I do, but I figured the extra work would do me good,” Xander said.

“Man, that’s hardcore.” John grabbed a notebook and said, “I’m off to homeroom. Catch you at lunch.”

Xander nodded and spotted Carol.

“I like the hair color.”

She gave him a shy smile.

“Someone gave me a tip about my first day.”

“Whoever that was, you owe them big. Who do you have for homeroom?” Xander asked.

She told him, and he smiled.

“Me, too. Do you mind if I walk you to class?”

“Only if you carry my books,” Carol said.

Xander grabbed her notebook and started down the hall. The Princesses gave him some strange looks; Pam must not have informed them that she’d dumped him again. As he was about to walk into homeroom, Kelly stepped in front of him and put her hand on his chest.

“We need to talk,” Kelly said.

Xander handed Carol her notebook and said, “I’ll see you in there.”

“Who’s that?” Kelly asked once Carol left.

“A new girl. She has the locker next to mine.”

“It didn’t take you long to replace Pam, did it?” Kelly asked.

“Hey, slow it down; Pam dumped me. Besides, I don’t really know Carol, but I was the new guy not too long ago. I figured I should make her feel at home.”

The bell rang, so they rushed into the room to take their seats. He saw Pam there, and she didn’t look happy.

’And so the drama begins,’ Xander thought.

Xander’s math class got out early, so he was one of the first in line for lunch. That day’s offering was mac and cheese. He scanned the lunchroom to pick a table. The seniors and juniors always grabbed the ones next to the window, so he selected one in the back corner.

Carol and Pippa had been in his class, so they were looking for seats when Xander waved to let them know they could join him. They were followed by Barb, Peggy, and Stacy.

“Is this our new table?” Stacy asked.

“I guess,” Xander said.

“Hey, Xander, are you going to introduce us to all your women?” Brad asked.

He was with Tommy, and they took the last two seats. Xander introduced everyone. The guys he’d sat with the previous year sat down at the table next to theirs.

He noticed Pam and Kelly were sitting at the senior table. Lucas was chatting up Pam while Kelly looked uncomfortable.

“I heard you had a double date last night at the Golden Dragon,” Barb said. “I can’t believe Pam made you take her there and then broke up with you.”

“You’re single now?” Peggy asked.

“Just what we need: the Rizzmaster taking all the girls from us,” Donnie complained.

“Rizzmaster?” Tommy asked.

“Xander’s the only guy in our class who doesn’t stare at our boobs,” Peggy said.

“Hey, now, you should take it as a compliment; you have nice tits. We can’t help it if Xander’s half gay,” Kevin said.

“This is why freshman girls should go out with older guys,” Brad said.

“I agree,” Tommy said.

“Yeah, no. Not happening,” Pippa said.

Xander had an inner smile as he sat back and listened to the banter. This was much better than his last time starting high school, when he sat off to the side and watched everyone else.

The varsity played an away game at Gentry High on Friday night and won 35–14. The freshman and JV teams were playing on Saturday.

Xander had a good game on defense with six tackles, two for losses. On offense, he carried the ball eighteen times, gained 122 yards, and scored three touchdowns. West Fork’s freshmen won 28–6.

The JV had their asses handed to them 42–14. Their problem was that their best players were on the varsity squad because two of the varsity’s starting running backs had gone out early with injuries.

On the bus ride home, Coach Carlton had Xander sit beside him.

“I’ve been asked if you’d be willing to play JV ball.”

“What do you think?” Xander asked.

“I’d hate to see you go. I would also be worried about you getting hurt,” Coach Carlton said.

Xander remembered freshman ball being fun. As he moved up in level, it became more serious. At this point, Xander was happy. Besides, the JV offensive line sucked, and he’d get killed if he played for them.

“I think I’ll pass.”

“Okay, I’ll let them know. Good job today,” Coach said.

Xander got up and sat next to KJ.

“You going to JV?”

“I told them, ‘No,’” Xander said.

“Thank goodness. If I had to take most of the carries, I’d be dead,” KJ admitted.

“That’s why I told them ‘No.’ I was afraid your fragile ass would get broken,” Xander teased.

KJ punched him in the arm, and Xander acted hurt. He’d made the right decision.

Three weeks into the season, the varsity and freshman teams were undefeated, while the JV squad was 1–2. This week, they played Paris at home.

On the Thursday before the game, Coach Hammer wasn’t happy with the varsity offense. He commented that even the freshman defense could handle them. Finally, out of frustration, he called the freshmen over to go against the varsity to prove his point.

When they lined up, Xander could tell the seniors were fired up. This wouldn’t be pretty.

Carl got under center.

“Down! Set! Hut ... Hut!”

Xander saw Carl fake the handoff to his fullback, who crashed into the line where Kevin and Jake rushed to stop him, resulting in a pile of bodies.

The tackle had fired out at Xander to block him, but Xander shoved him inside; Xander had outside contain on the play. Xander was sure Carl thought Xander would have to come down and force him to pitch to his halfback. Instead, Xander anticipated the pitch and stuck his hand out to snag the ball. He had all the momentum toward his goal line, so when he gathered it in, he ran for the score.

Coach Hammer’s reaction was legendary. He launched into a ten-minute rant that questioned the varsity’s manhood and worse.

On the next play, Carl made a point of staring Xander down before getting under center.

’This isn’t good,’ Xander worried as he lined up.

The offense ran the same play.

Kevin tied up the offensive tackle this time, so Xander didn’t have to fight him off. If Kevin hadn’t done that, Xander would’ve been injured because Carl didn’t even try to make a play, but instead dove at Xander’s knee in an attempt to hurt him. Xander pushed Carl’s helmet into the dirt as he skipped out of danger. Carl came off the turf with grass stuck in his face mask, ready to fight.

Coach Hammer shoved Carl from behind, knocking him to the ground.

“What the hell do you think you’re doing, trying to injure a teammate?! Get your ass off my field!” Coach Hammer screamed.

Carl stood up in shock.

“All of you! Off my field!” Coach Hammer yelled.

The varsity started to jog to the locker room.

“Run!” Coach Hammer shouted.

That got everyone moving. Xander held back because he wasn’t sure what he would face when he got to the locker room. Thankfully, Coach Carlton was waiting for him. When Carl saw Xander with his coach, he glared at Xander. It was clear this wasn’t over.

’Fuck me!’

Paris High played a much better game than they had in the past. They’d lost all their away games to this point, and everyone expected more of the same. Instead, it was 14–all at halftime.

From the stands, Xander could see that Carl was having a terrible game. He’d been crushed on the first play when Paris ran a run blitz where one of their linebackers got through and buried him. He’d lost his cool and yelled at his linemen.

From there, Carl second-guessed himself, and his reads weren’t as crisp, which caused the offense to get bogged down.

It wasn’t a surprise when the JV starting quarterback was inserted to start the next half. He led the team to two quick scores, giving West Fork a 28–14 lead heading into the fourth quarter. At that point, Coach Hammer put Carl back into the game. Neither team scored after that.

Word was passed that one of the players who lived in town was holding a party after the game. Connie found Xander and offered him a ride home if he’d be her designated driver.

Xander messaged his mom to tell her he was going out. She sent him one back, reminding him he had a game the next day. Xander promised he wouldn’t be drinking, so she let him go.

The party was swamped with people; it looked like everyone from their high school was there. Connie handed him her keys and said, “Remember, no drinking.”

“You’re worse than my mom.”

“But your mom doesn’t take you to parties.”

She was right about that. He watched her disappear into the crowd. Xander decided to go out back because it was like 900 degrees inside the house. As he walked out, he bumped into Brandi.

“Hey,” she said shyly.

“Hey, yourself.”

She was looking down as her toe dug into the grass, then glanced up.

“I miss you.”

“I miss you, too,” Xander admitted.

She smiled. Before she got her hopes up, Xander shook his head.

“Look, I never had any claim on you, so I’m not mad at what you did. I just wish you’d given me a heads-up that you wanted to be with a bunch of other guys,” Xander said.

“It just sort of happened.”

“Chantel told me, so I get it, but that doesn’t change anything. I didn’t think you were like Chantel—”

“I’m not!” Brandi said, interrupting. “If you’d just give me a second chance...”

Brad joined them.

“I found us a quiet place,” he said to Brandi and then turned to Xander. “Hey, man, good to see you.”

“Good to see you, too. I’ll catch you guys later. Have fun,” Xander said.

Brandi looked at him, her eyes pleading, but she chose to leave with Brad. It was for the best, but he hadn’t lied; he did miss her.

Xander was shooting the shit with some of the guys when a tearful Connie stormed up.

“Take me home.”

All the other guys looked confused, but Xander couldn’t fill them in—mostly because he didn’t really know what was going on, though he had a guess. He grabbed Connie’s hand and led her through the maze of people until they got out front.

“I don’t want to talk about it,” Connie said.

“Okay.”
