Chapter 1

“I’m afraid I can’t accept your invitation, Caroline. Jerry doesn’t like me to go out without him and he’s out of town until next week.”
“Oh come now, Barbara. The party is just next door at my house, not some bar or nightclub. You might actually have fun this time now that the party pooper isn’t around.” Barbara and Jerry had already been to one of Caroline and Frank’s parties when they first became their neighbors less than three months before. The party plans were made the moment they heard Jerry was going to be out of town for a week. The music was loud and the young woman danced some. The people Barbara met were charming and witty. She didn’t hesitate to take a puff or two from the reefer when someone passed it to her. She’d avoided it in high school but now Barbara wondered why. There was nothing to be afraid of. The young married woman thought nothing of it when Frank put his arm around her waist even when his hand brushed up against the lower part of her breast and stayed there. She gave him a mock frown to let Frank know she knew he was being naughty but then smiled and passed her own arm around her neighbor’s waist. They walked around a corner and almost collided with a couple who were kissing and groping each other. The woman was Caroline. The man was someone Barbara had been introduced to earlier but she couldn’t remember his name.
“Are you still playing the host, darling?” Caroline said.
“Well, yeah,” Frank replied. “This is our party, isn’t it?”
“We’re among friends, Frank. They can take care of themselves. I don’t want you to be a bore to Barbara.”
“Oh, I’m having a wonderful time, Caroline. Frank isn’t boring me at all.”
“Well, I hope not.” She turned back to her partner and resumed her petting with her date for the evening. Frank and Barbara made an about face but ran into the same situation with other couples at the party.
“I think we need to get with the program here,” Frank said with a chuckle. “Everyone else is way ahead of us.” The program seemed to involve the couples undressing each other and engaging in various forms of sex. It was an orgy! Barbara had never seen anything like it and just stared but no one seemed to notice or care. She felt Frank’s hand covering her breast and then his other hand caressing her belly. Barbara wasn’t so naïve she didn’t expect Frank to make a pass at her but someplace private, not in front of everyone.
