Veronica entered the club with a duffle bag in hand, her heart heavier than she expected. Today was her last day—not because she was tired of dancing, but because a new dream was calling her.
She had to laugh, quietly, realizing that in some ways she was already a mother to three children. They weren’t hers by blood, but by love.
Now, she was going to carry her own baby—and Frank would help her create that life. The other dancers greeted her with warmth, but when they saw her cleaning out her locker, the questions began.
“My husband and I...” she said, then smiled so wide she thought her face would crack, “have been granted a baby.”
The cheers that erupted shook the dressing room.
Girls hugged her, kissed her cheeks, squeezed her hand; the whole place overflowed with joy. “I know, I know!” Veronica laughed, crying all the while.
“I can’t wait. Now all I have to do is wait for my fertility window—and then it’s baby time!”
“You’ll be an amazing mom, honey!” came the chorus.
After hugging everyone one last time, she zipped up her duffle and climbed the stairs to the offices, tears still blurring her vision.
Lisa was waiting at the top, arms open.
“Feeling a little melancholy?” Lisa asked, holding her tight.
“I’m feeling ... everything,” Veronica said, leaning into the hug.
She pulled back slightly, wiping at her cheeks.
“I’m so excited for the baby ... but sad to leave this place. How many memories can one building hold?”
Lisa smiled, full of tenderness. “A lot, love. More than you’ll ever count.”
Veronica heaved a shuddering sigh. Lisa kept one hand on her back, steady.
“Can I ask you something?” Veronica said, her voice catching slightly.
“Of course, darling. Always.” Lisa said, waiting patiently as Veronica gathered her swirling thoughts.
“When Frank and I make love to make our baby, will you and the others be with us?”
Lisa just smiled, tears forming in the corner of her eyes. “Of course honey. Of course we will be with you. I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
Veronica thought she was cried out, but tears slid down her cheeks as she hugged her wife again.
Lisa and Veronica, still holding each other, walked across the building to Frank’s office and walked in without knocking or even pausing. He was behind his desk, reading, when their arrival caught his eyes.
“Well hello my wives. What brings you across the building to see me?” He asked, getting up from behind his desk moving toward them.
He kissed each of them warmly on the lips, arms around both of them.
“We were just talking about the baby that you two are going to be making in a couple of weeks.” Lisa said with a smile.
“Oh? Changing your mind honey?” Frank asked, not nervous or afraid. He was confident and didn’t move or even flinch at Lisa’s words.
“No, gosh no. I was asking if everyone could be together, in bed with us, when we make the baby.” Veronica said.
“Of course. I would expect nothing less.” Frank said, then leaned down to kiss her on the forehead. “We could make it into some sort of ceremony if you want. Ritual washing, candle light, special clothing...” he said, listing off a bunch of items that could make the time special and very meaningful.
Both of the girls laughed at his idea. But Veronica paused after she laughed. “Actually, that is not a bad idea.”
“Well good. Why don’t you and our wives work out the details and when the time comes, I’ll be there ready to do my part.” Frank said, with a smile on his face, but really looking forward to what they decide.
As Veronica’s period came and went, so too did the theoretical nature of becoming pregnant. Now, it was real. It was imminent.
And with that reality came a quiet, growing mix of excitement and nerves.
One afternoon, after lunch had been eaten but before the kids returned home from school, Jane and Veronica were curled up together on the cuddle couch. The TV played in the background, half-forgotten, while both women scrolled aimlessly through their social feeds.
Veronica’s feed, in particular, was a flood of baby announcements, ultrasound pictures, smiling couples holding newborns, and carefully staged photos of matching onesies and tiny socks.
She let out a soft sigh.
Jane glanced over at her wife, one brow raised, but said nothing—waiting.
A moment later, Veronica sighed again, this time a little louder.
“Something bothering you, my dear?” Jane asked gently.
Veronica turned the screen toward her. “Look at all these baby pictures,” she said. “It’s like the whole world wants me to have this baby.”
Jane studied her face, not the phone. “What’s really bothering you, honey? I’ve never seen you like this before.”
Veronica let her extended arm fall as she slumped back against the couch, frustrated. “I don’t know if I’m going to be a good mom.”
Jane opened her arms to her wife, “Come here and tell me all about it.”
Veronica moved to sit between Jane’s legs so that she could be held. Once she was comfortable, she spilled her guts.
“Now tell me all about it.” Jane said, her arms around her shoulders.
“I don’t know if I’m going to be a good mom. I don’t want to get fat or be sick for nine months. I hate pain, and I know giving birth is going to hurt and I don’t want that...” she began, her words tumbling out faster now, “I’m scared of losing control of my body, of not recognizing myself in the mirror. What if I get depressed afterward? What if I’m not ... enough for this baby? What if Frank looks at me and doesn’t see me anymore—just the mother of his child? What if I mess everything up?”
Her voice cracked, just slightly.
“I wanted this. I still want this. But now it’s getting close and it’s like ... everything is shifting inside me and I don’t know where I fit anymore.”
Jane just pulled her in tighter, kissed her shoulder, and breathed in the familiar scent of her neck. Then she whispered, “You already are a good mom.”
Veronica twisted slightly. “Huh?”
“You may not have given birth to those three kids in our house, but you’re just as much a mom to them as Lisa and I are. You changed diapers. You burped them. You got up in the middle of the night to feed them, you fed them at the kitchen table. You kissed boo-boos. You held them when the thunder scared them. You loved them.”
She shifted closer, her voice low and steady near Veronica’s ear. “Now it’s your turn to carry one of our babies—to add to this pack in your own way—but being a mom? You already know how. You already are one. A great one.”
Veronica’s voice wavered. “What about...”
“Nope,” Jane cut in gently. “You don’t need to worry about that. Frank will love you—today, tomorrow, pregnant, giving birth, afterward, and for every year that follows. That man is steady as a mountain. He adores you. Trust me.”
She pressed her lips to Veronica’s temple, still holding her close. “We all do.”
Veronica sighed, snuggled in closer to Jane and held onto her words with every fiber of her being. “I’m a good mom.” She said quietly, unsure, then repeated it several times with more enthusiasm until both women were chanting it and laughing as they nearly screamed it out loud.
Once that emotional moment passed, they went back to cuddling each other on the couch.
“Hun, can I ask something of you?” Veronica asked after they recovered from their chanting and screaming.
“Sure.”
“Do you, would you and Lisa be with me when Frank and I make this baby?”
“Of course honey. I would be delighted. Have you given any thought about how you are going to do it?”
“Well, I thought about of me on my back and Frank over me, possessing me, fucking me.” she said with a low growl.
Jane just laughed, “Yes, I can see that. No, I was actually asking about the environment. Do you want candles, incense, flowers on the bed, what are you going to wear, or not wear. You know, that sort of thing.”
Veronica sat up, turned around and after some adjustments, she sat facing Jane with their legs around each other, their pelvises pressed together. “Here is what I’m thinking. In our room, the room lit by candle light, a little bit of incense burning, nothing overpowering please, some soft music playing in the background, the three of us naked before our man and all of us making love together as Frank makes love to all of us. Though, I get his sperm, not you two.”
Jane nodded her head thoughtfully. “Sounds good. I can’t wait until that happens. What are you going to wear?”
“Nothing. Completely bare before our man. All three of us.”
“Good. Anything else?” Jane asked.
Veronica thought for a moment, then pulled her shorts out away from her body and inspected herself, “I need a wax.” She ran her hand over her mound, feeling nothing but stubble. She then pulled Jane’s shorts away from her body and did the same thing. “So do you.” She then reached out to Lisa and asked her to check herself. Lisa complied, slipping her hand under her skirt while sitting at her desk and found that she too needs a wax. “All three of us need a wax. Well, the day before my window opens, all three of us are going to get a wax so that we are clean and smooth for our man
The plan was made. All three of the women went to the salon together where there favorite waxer was waiting for them. Janice greeted them all with warm hugs and smiles when she found out that Veronica was the next one in line for a baby for their pack.
“Come on you three, let’s make sure that mom-to-be looks her best.”
Jane led them all to the room where Veronica took off her pants, hopped up on the table and put herself into the right position. Janice and the girls all talked about the upcoming mating and the baby and just everything as all three of them had their hair removed or styled.
When Janice was done, she had heard from all of them about their nerves, the excitement of more babies in the family and everything else that women all talk about when they’re alone together.
The next day, while Frank was at work, all three wives were home getting the room ready. The WE had confirmed that Veronica had ovulated the night before and that an egg was there ready for Frank.
The candles were all lit, the lights turned off and all had showered and pampered themselves getting ready for this event.
Frank had been told when to come home—and when he stepped into the bedroom, he stopped cold.
