Chapter 10

Fiction Sex Story: Chapter 10 - Ashley's new life begins in college. Freed from her controlling parents and partially-funded by a fledging modeling career, there are new people to meet and mistakes to make. Sometimes the best lessons happen outside of the classroom.

Ashley stood at the door she hadn’t seen in almost a month, looking at the number 237. She hesitated to enter and stood instead in the hall outside. People walked by, saying hi to their friends and greeting each other after the holiday break, though none did for her.

She could feel their eyes watching her, judging. She expected no less, the juicy gossip having spread around since her shouting and storming off before exams. She could only imagine the wild tales told; the game of telephone winding up the details into some elaborate soap opera level drama. She didn’t care about that or any of them. Let them say whatever they want, she could take whatever barbs they threw.

But Trisha didn’t want that, and Trisha didn’t deserve it. That was what Ashley had struggled with the most, being both upset at Trisha for lying to her and also feeling personal guilt for the way she acted. The truth was that she didn’t know what to do about either. She’d rather passive aggressively spar with Edith anywhere in the world at that moment than standing in front of that dorm room door. With a heavy inhale and exhale, Ashley put in her key and turned the knob.

The room was how she’d left it after briefly returning to grab as much stuff as she could before scurrying away back to the studio in December. A few of her dresser drawers were ajar, her bed a mess, and a few photos had become unstuck and fallen off her wall. There was a piece of paper on her desk, one she hadn’t seen the last time she was there. It was a fine for fifty dollars for noise and a written warning from the floor warden Jess, for ‘verbally abusive behavior’.

That at least made Ashley chuckle, as she dumped her heavy bags on her bed. The warning didn’t mean much. Three would send her to a disciplinary hearing and could lead to her removal from the dorm or worse, expulsion from the school itself. Besides her outburst, she had been a perfect resident; since she kept to her room most of the time.

The real joke to her was the fine, fifty dollars. Ashley didn’t know how much the La Spiaggia gig paid until they were about to leave. She would have done it for free just for Rick and Scott; and would have paid them for the glory of wiping the smug look off Edith’s face. When she was handed a check for forty thousand Euros from Luca himself, she thought her sleep deprived eyes had played a trick on her. She could pay off the entire year of school with just that one job. She rushed to the bank to deposit it as soon as she could, fearing it might get lost or misplaced.

She sat on her bed, still partially jetlagged and felt the emptiness of the room. It was almost like it had been when she lived there alone in the summer, still and quiet, but there was a noticeable absence of joy. She could see Trisha’s bed, some of the stuff she’d left behind when she left for home in Nebraska. It made her sad, so she tried to brush it off, not wanting to dwell and focus on her own unpacking. She had just finished her big suitcase and was working on her smaller one, pulling out her gifted La Spiaggia bikini from the guys when she heard a key enter the lock.

“No, I haven’t heard from her at all Christmas, I tried so many...” Trisha’s voice sounded as the door opened. Ashley stood up and was face to face with Trisha talking to Justin. Both stopped in the doorway and looked at Ashley standing there staring back. An awkward silence settled in, made more apparent by the movement and noise from the hall.

“Maybe I should go...” Justin said nervously, backing away. “Talk to me later?”

Trisha didn’t look at him, “Yeah, I-uh ... I’ll message.” With that, Justin retreated and disappeared down the hall toward his room. Trisha stepped in, the door shut behind her. Ashley could have sworn she saw a few faces poke around the corner in an attempt to watch some drama. That ended when Trisha locked the door behind her.

“How was your Christmas?” asked Ashley uncomfortably, resorting to small talk to break the ice.

Trisha walked to her side of the room, tossing her bags next to her bed. “Fine. Mom wished you could have come, but I said you were working. How was yours?”

“Oh, you know ... fine, I guess.” Ashley didn’t know what to say. She didn’t want to say she was miserable for half of it and the other half was spent getting banged repeatedly, including a week in a foreign paradise.

Trisha looked at her, and shook her head, “Where’d you go? You’re too tanned to have spent it here.”

Trisha knew her too well, Ashley looked away. “Malta. Photoshoot.”

Trisha said dryly “It was probably nicer than Nebraska; definitely warmer. At least I didn’t lie to my mom then.”

“Trish, I wanna-”

“Don’t. Just don’t...” Trisha said firmly. “Let me go first, ok?”

Ashley nodded. She sat down on her desk chair, not knowing how the conversation would go.

Trisha paced around the room for a moment. Ashley wasn’t sure if her roommate was trying to think of the words to say or just psyching herself up to say it, but Ashley knew to let her figure it out. The pacing finally stopped.

“Ashley, I shouldn’t have lied to you. I didn’t mean to hurt you, especially after everything you’ve done for me-”

“Trish, I-”

“Let me finish, please?”

Ashley put her hands out to yield the floor.

“I was scared. I’m not as brave as you, I don’t have your ‘I don’t care’ attitude. I’m just a simple girl from a small town; this was all just so...” She stopped and shook her hands nervously. “I don’t know how I feel anymore, I don’t know what I am anymore. I thought I did ... till I met you...”

Ashley was desperate to speak, wanting to tell her friend and lover that it was all ok; but she knew to stay quiet. She had to let her finish, knowing it must be difficult for Trish to talk about this.

“You’re so beautiful and sexy and you have a way of comforting me to calm me down. I know I’m attracted to you; I think I have feelings for you ... but I also like Justin too. He’s safer, he’s what I know ... he’s what my parents think I should want. They wouldn’t understand ... us; it’s not normal for them. I’m sorry.”

Trisha turned away and started to cry. Ashley stood up, walked over and put her arms around her. She knew saying all that had to have been incredibly difficult.

“I’m sorry too,” Ashley said, now able to break her silence.

“Why are you sorry?”

Ashley gave her a caring and friendly smile, “My turn, ok?”

Trisha nodded and wiped her eyes on her hoodie.

Ashley started, “I’m sorry for the scene I made, embarrassing you like that when I left. I knew you weren’t handling things well ... with us, and I shouldn’t have gone off the rails. I was upset and felt betrayed, but we never agreed to or discussed being an us-only couple. I could tell you were having difficulties; I should have been more receptive to your feelings. Given you space to figure it all out.”

“But I-” Trisha interrupted but Ashley raised a finger to silence her. It was her turn to speak.

Ashley continued, “I was miserable for most of the break, thinking how I made a mess of things and embarrassed myself and you. I hope you can forgive me, and if you want, maybe we can go back to being friends and roommates.”

Sensing her opening to talk, Trisha spoke. “Just friends?”

“Until you figure out what you want and who you want to be, it seems like the best idea.”

Trisha nodded quietly and wiped her eyes again with a now damp sleeve.

“There’s just one thing,” Ashley hesitated to ask. “Why Justin? That guy’s a jerk.”

Trish let out a gasped laugh, “He’s not that bad. I know you two got off on the wrong foot, he was drunk and things got out of control ... it hasn’t been like that since. If you could just-”

“Don’t say it!”

Trisha finished her sentence anyway, “ ... maybe give him a chance, for me. Please?”

“UUuuuugh, you’re asking a lot here,” Ashley groaned. “Can’t you just be with someone else, like ANYONE else?”

Trish laughed, “It doesn’t work that way. I don’t look like you, remember?”

“Believe me,” Ashley said with confidence, “looks don’t mean everything. Being a good person, like you, is way better than the hottest yet completely vainest model on Earth.”

“I feel like there’s a story there.” Trisha looked at her suspiciously.

Ashley smirked, “There is, but it’s for another time. Let’s just ease me into dealing with Justin again ... slowly, like the torment it probably will become.”

Trisha sighed, “That’s fair, I guess.”

“First thing’s first,” Ashley said with increasing happiness, “ ... we’re going to need a signal if you’re...” Ashley covered her mouth like she was going to be sick, “ ... doing stuff with him.”

She received a playful slap on the arm.

Despite the initial friendly reunion, after a day or so, tensions began to creep back into room 237. It started later that day, after Trisha and Ashley reconnected, with texts from Justin seeing if everything had been smoothed over. Ashley was fine with that, as she had some post-trip paperwork to do for Rick and Scott. It was when Justin insisted on coming by to hang out that rankled Ashley.

“He really wants us to all get along,” Trish said, aware of Ashley’s view on him.

Personally, Trisha wanted to give Ashley some time after their fight to adjust, but she also wanted to see him too. She has suggested going to his room instead, but Justin explained that his roommate was bringing his own girlfriend over. It would be a little uncomfortable if there were two sets of people messing around at the same time.

Ashley grumbled, “Can’t you go somewhere else? Or maybe we just spend the night catching up?”

“I know this is a lot to ask and I hate putting you on the spot, especially after...” Trisha stopped herself, not wanting to pick at fresh wounds, and moved along. “We can all hang out, you can tell us about Malta. I’m really curious about the story you were hinting at.”

Ashley grimaced, “I don’t know if I want to tell Justin about that. I mean, nothing happened in that way ... it’s just, I don’t know. It feels like a me and you story.”

“Did you ... with those guys?” Trish asked awkwardly.

Not sure how to answer that question, Ashley tried to dodge it. “That’s not important. It’s more about me and this rude British model and getting a win for America.”

Trisha’s eyes lit up, a genuine smile on her face. “That sounds AWESOME! Why wouldn’t you want to tell that to everyone? Afterwards, I can talk about my Christmas to both of you at the same time, so I don’t have to repeat it. It won’t be as exciting as yours, it seems. I didn’t win the Olympics or start the Nebraska Tea Party, but it was my Christmas.”

“And Justin?” Ashley grumbled.

“We can find out what he did over the break, maybe you two will find something in common.”

They had something in common, and that was Trisha; it was already more than Ashley wanted to share. She knew though that if she wanted to stay friends with Trish, she would have to deal with Justin eventually. She just wished she could have one night to hang out and reconnect with Trish without him lurking about.

“UHHHhhhhhhgggg...” Ashley let out a long groan, “Fine. I’m only doing this for you though. Just keep him away from me.”

Trisha clapped excitedly, “I promise. You’ll see, it won’t be that bad. I’ll tell him to come over now.”

Justin arrived a few moments later and plonked himself down next to Trish on her bed. Ashley sat in her desk chair, swiveling back and forth as far as she could one way before doing the same on the other. She didn’t really feel like talking, at least not to him. She had pictures, mostly of her in those very small bikinis and didn’t want him to see them. She would likely have those same photos plastered all over bathing suit shops across Europe but felt weird about Justin seeing them. She knew it was petty and dumb, but he still creeped her out. The only other pictures she had were those of the frescos from the mansion that she took for Trisha.

“So...?” Trisha asked with a big smile, sitting on the edge of the bed. Ashley couldn’t help but notice Justin holding Trish’s hand right next to her thigh. It bothered her, but she was trying not to look jealous. They were only friends now; Ashley had to tell herself.

“Trish tells me you have some big story from the holidays?” asked Justin with a half-smile.

“It’s nothing; just a work trip thing. You don’t want to hear about it.” Ashley said dismissively.

Trish pouted, “Come on, you were in Malta ... You defeated the Red Coats yourself...”

“Whhaatt?” Justin said with a laugh. “Now I have to know.”

Knowing there was no way out of this, Ashley explained. “Ok, Trisha knows this and I don’t know if she told you, but I’m a model and also help manage a photography studio...”

From the expression on Justin’s face, he either didn’t know yet or he was good at lying. Ashley chose to believe the latter rather than the former.

“Like independent modeling?” asked Justin.

Ashley suspected what he meant, “No, not like that.” She fired back. “I’m a real model; I have representation and I’ve worked for several major brands. I only started in the spring, but things have opened up recently.”

Ashley explained the invitation to Malta and La Spiaggia, how it was Rick and Scott’s dream to shoot for them and how difficult it is to be granted the opportunity if you aren’t European. She touched on her relationship with Rick and Scott, obviously editing out the physical side of it to Justin. It would have been so much faster to just tell Trisha, Ashley thought to herself. By the time Ashley got to the part with besting Edith, the two listeners were enraptured.

“That’s fucking awesome!” Trisha said excitedly.

Even Justin thought it was, “Really cool.” But he did wonder aloud, “What does this Edith girl actually look like?”

Trish nodded rapidly, “Yeah, I want to see what the competition was like.”

Ashley had done a bit of recon of her own after meeting the blonde beauty. The few days she’d had between returning home from the shoot and moving back to the dorm, Ashley’s search history had gone from curious to concerning. She had spent hours combing over photosets, advertisings, and reading assorted interviews and British gossip reports on the comings and goings of ‘Britain’s hottest model’, a direct quote pulled from a gossip page. She wanted to know everything she could about her rival in case they met again.

Pulling out her laptop, Ashley brought up a couple of pictures she’d saved from lingerie ads Edith had done recently. They were quite explicit, at least compared to American standards for general ad placements. It was Edith on her knees, legs spread apart past her shoulders, leaning forward to show off her cleavage; her blonde hair draped down over her shoulders but not blocking the garment. The lingerie itself was a two-piece white lace set with strategically placed blue polkadots. Turning the screen, she showed the other two.

“Holy shit!” Justin exclaimed, letting go of Trish lean forward for a better look. “She’s incredible...”

Trisha pulled her boyfriend away from the monitor, before looking at her friend. “I told you, you were pretty. Between you two, you win. No contest.”

“Thanks Trish.” Ashley replied to her friend while giving Justin a dirty look. She didn’t like the way he reacted, especially with Trish right there; it rubbed her the wrong way. It wasn’t helped when Justin opened his mouth again.

“So, if that’s what she looks like, we’ve gotta see these winning pictures of yours.”

“I don’t have them,” Ashley lied. “They belong to the company; we signed the rights over when we got paid.”

“That sucks, at least we’ll get to see them when the ads go live, right?” he continued, pushing Ashley’s buttons further. He had Trish, that should be all the girl he needed to see.

“Do you know Italian, because they are only sold in Europe,” Ashley said harshly.

“Alright ... Jeez,” Justin replied, rolling his eyes. “I was just trying to be interested, sorry.”

To Ashley’s astonishment, Trisha backed Justin, “That was kind of rude, Ash.”

“Sorry.” In truth, Ashley was anything but. Ashley decided to ask Trisha about her holiday break, moving things away from herself. She didn’t like the way Justin behaved, thinking it was disrespectful to Trish, even if Trish herself didn’t seem to see it that way. That isn’t how you treat your girlfriend.

Ashley was happy when classes started up again, giving her a break from the dorm room drama. It seemed giving that initial inch that first day back quickly became a mile, with Justin being around constantly. She couldn’t enjoy the simple feeling of being comfortable in her own space, when he was there every waking minute; and some when not awake.

Normally, Ashley would have had a mature and adult conversation with Trish about it. She’d let her know her feelings and thoughts, that maybe they could spend time elsewhere, so Ashley could relax and do her work. Unfortunately, Ashley knew it was more complicated than that.

She saw it that first night, forced to apologize to him for his inappropriateness. It didn’t feel like anything she could say to Trisha at that point wouldn’t come off as a jilted and jealous ex-girlfriend or something. She knew she had to bury it for now, hoping and honestly expecting Justin to do something to piss Trisha off; snapping her out of her puppy dog crush.

Still thinking about the whole situation, Ashley sat down for her first Econ seminar of the term. It was a smaller room for the twenty or so students, carved off from the four hundred for the main lecture portion of the class. She liked these more, as they allowed discussion on the topics of the week. Sure it wasn’t the professor they were talking to, merely a TA who was typically a grad student, but it felt more intimate. She knew class sizes would shrink as the years went on, and hoped they’d end at about this size.

“Alright, let’s get started...” Max, their TA said, as he wrangled everyone to their seats.

Ashley was already seated, she didn’t really know anyone there. She knew some names and faces, but didn’t really socialize with the other people in her program. She began to wonder if she was missing out by spending so much time with Trisha before. One of the reasons she’d been excited for college was to meet new people and be out on her own. She did have that unfortunate hookup at the beginning of the year, but after that, she kind of settled down. If Trisha could be with someone else, she could too.

The seminar was fine, for the first of the new term. It started with some short introductions before diving into the course material. Ashley was only partially paying attention, her focus split in different directions. Part was on the course, part was on Trisha, and another part was thinking about Malta and modeling. Her mind had floated elsewhere when someone tapped her arm.

“Do you wanna partner up?”
