Unstoppable?” Sheila scoffed while driving. “Donal’s unstoppable, not me. I’m just trying to be—”

Although only for a second, the entire world blinked, then smeared. It left her gasping as both fists squeaked on the steering wheel. While blinking long eyelashes, she scanned her reflection in the rearview mirror.

“A good mommy?” she whispered as the brake lights lit ahead of her.

While struggling to breathe, she watched El’s large import take yet another upward-winding curve. Behind wrought iron fences or tall walls, the homes lining the hillside-tracing road were getting larger and larger as they ascended. Before she could admire more of the surroundings, the second revelation hit her.

“Donal.” She gasped. “Not his father.”

It was her son. The way he treated her. Ever since that first time. He’d always understood what she needed. What had been missing from her life. How he’d teased her, convincing her to make a move only when she was ready. Not once had he forced himself onto her.

“He’s the one that caused this change,” she murmured as the sleek, dark sedan slowed in her headlights. “Without him”—she gulped—”nothing. I’d still be living the same boring life.” She giggled while scanning the massive homes. “Never get to see places like this. Or scrounge the courage to...” Her gaze locked on the car ahead. “Fuck, my son is amazing.”

Breath catching in her throat and chest tightening, she braked as a pair of towering black metal gates parted before the lead vehicle.

“Both my sons love me.” She blinked a tear from an eyelash. “Plus, my husband ... My mountain man.”

After another slow swallow, she eased past the gateway onto a tree-lined winding drive. When a two-story, stone-faced structure loomed into view, her pulse stuttered. The enormous house sprawled amid thick, sculpted greenery and broad-leafed trees.

“Wow!” She whistled as more of the enormous home and its manicured gardens appeared.

After halting behind the sedan on a cobblestone drive encircling a tall marble fountain, she stared at the towering facade. Atop large, polished stone steps stood two massive doors of glossy dark wood. Nope, not a house; it was a veritable mansion.

When El stepped from her car, the air caught in her throat. A gentle breeze wrapped the thin, patterned dress to her slender curves. Beneath swirling chestnut wisps, her face was the picture of nervousness.

“She needs me,” Sheila muttered. With everything but the woman fading, the drumbeat in her chest intensified. “I’ll be a good mommy to her. El deserves that.”

Before she could add “for as long as she lives,” she thrust the car door wide. At her sudden appearance, El gulped. As Sheila’s heels click-clacked closer on the stones, vivid eyes swept over her.

“Wow! What a gorgeous home, Kitten.” She beamed at her before looking at the towering pillars flanking the entrance. “Uh, fancy, too.”

“Um, thanks. Pretentious is more like it.” A soft laugh left her. “Bernard, um, Bernie, my late husband, he had a good mind for money and stuff like that. His investments did well. They still are. Plus, we used to entertain a lot until ... Until he fell sick, uh, Sheila.”

After halting before El, she lowered her gaze to the woman. Those hazel pools glimmered in the spotlights illuminating the front garden. After a slow swallow, she dragged a nail along her delicate jaw.

“Lived here all alone?”

“Y-Yes, um, Sheila.” She gulped, then pressed her cheek into Sheila’s fingertip.

“Gonna purr for me, Kitten?” She giggled. Yep, good thing the drive had been slow and traffic light; the weed still meandered her brain.

“God, maybe. Jesus, Sheila. I don’t know what to do. You don’t have to—”

“You”—Sheila dipped to place a quick kiss on shaking lips—”are seducing me, my sexy little pet.”

“Mmm, G-God. You make me feel so ... alive,” hissed from her. “It’s been so long.”

“Well, not here for your money, Kitten.” She tapped the woman’s mouth once more while skimming her fingers along a tense neck. “Just for you.”

“O-Okay, Sheila.” She swallowed and flicked her eyes to the entrance. “We should, um, go inside, maybe.”

“We should”—when she took a step back, the brunette swayed into the void with a soft gasp—”go inside. Deep inside.” Another goofy giggle escaped her. “Lead on, little seductress.”

That got a quiet chuckle from El as she headed up the steps. Behind her, Sheila kept sweeping her gaze over the expansive home. It was far too large for the woman. No sooner had one of the doors eased open than El turned to her.

“Way too big for me, I know. I just. It’s where we lived. Holds too many memories.” She stepped back as Sheila pushed past into a massive marble foyer. A pair of grand staircases swooped upward along each rounded wall. “And I didn’t think—”

“—you’d live this long?”

“Um-hmm, precisely. Could sell it, I suppose. Except that ... It would be a hassle.”

“Yes, it would. It’s precious. And gorgeous.” She flashed the woman a smile as El shut the door. “Just like you.”

“Oh.” Her face flooded with crimson. “You don’t need to say that. I’m not—”

“You are.” She stepped closer and ran her nail around trembling lips. While smiling, she chuckled. “I don’t date ugly women, Kitten.”

“Um, uh. Oh, God. I’m shaking too much.” She gulped when Sheila moved her fingertip to El’s heated cheek. “Um, where’s my manners? Uh, hungry? Like something to eat?”

“Hmm, bit forward, no?” She tapped a fingernail on El’s chin. “Propositioning me already, naughty little Kitten?”

Wide-eyed, El struggled for words, and her face somehow darkened further. After spotting a brightly colored scarf on a hat rack behind the shaking woman, Sheila grinned. Memories of college returned. As she tugged the wispy orange and yellow material free, El’s breathing raced. When Sheila draped it around her neck, those rapid breaths hitched.

“Mmm, perfect. Sexy pet with a pretty collar. Enjoy wearing pretty collars, I bet, huh?”

“Oh, God. Mm-hmm. Yes, Sheila. How did—”

Her voice faded when Sheila reached behind the slim throat to unfasten her dress. As she eased her palms along the woman’s shaking shoulders, drawing its straps apart, El whimpered. When it floated downward, baring slender, pale curves, the whimper became a deep groan. Her hands flew up to block her chest and pelvis.

“I know. Too skinny. Used to, uh, play soccer in college.” Her breathing sped even faster. “Try to keep fit. But the chemo. And I—”

“Shh,” Sheila said, while gripping both wrists. After pulling them aside, she took her time inspecting El’s figure. Although her bones were prominent, enticing curves remained in all the right places. When she paused on the pair of perfect sharp-tipped peaks, El gulped.

“T-Titties are too small. Tiny. Plus, I’m—”

“Panties too, Kitten.” She smiled at the red-faced woman. “You’re supposed to be seducing me.”

“Yes, Sheila.” Both trembling hands shot to her waist. With a low moan, she shoved them downward until they slithered to her ankles.

“Mmm, bare,” she murmured. “How magical.”
