Chapter 17

Surprise Attack

October 2

In the morning, the group goes to talk with the sheriff. The sheriff tells that he has sent a tracker to find out where these goblins have actually come from.

The group considers what to do and then disperses. Jaysek and Ertak go to work at the church, Kieron and Agnarr stay at the tavern waiting in case some task would come through the adventurers’ guild, while Neiia goes to examine the weapons and armors she received. Nothing special happens during the day.

October 3

Neiia’s ship is departing.

October 6

A crying woman comes to Agnarr, trying to explain something. The woman has a toddler in her arms, and behind the woman comes a man whose hands are completely bloody. The man explains something about a goblin and that it bit him. The woman goes into the tavern for shelter, and the man goes to call for the sheriff.

Agnarr goes inside the house and finds a dead dog and boy in the children’s room, as well as a goblin. Agnarr hits the goblin once, and the goblin dies.

October 7

Neiia arrives back in Sandpoint by ship, and she receives a letter in which Neiia is invited to a wild boar hunt. The letter was sent by Aldern Foxglove. When Neiia goes to the inn to meet him, Neiia notes that he is the person whom the goblin riding the wolf was threatening. Aldern thanks Neiia for her help. Neiia states that her current financial situation doesn’t allow her to go hunting now, but when Aldern gives 5 gold coins as a reward for saving his life, Neiia states that well, now she can certainly go hunting too. They go to the stables, and because Neiia doesn’t have a horse, Aldern also buys her a riding horse and the necessary equipment.

They go to hunt wild boars in the nearby Shank’s Wood forest. They don’t really do any hunting but just ride around, and Neiia tells her stories. All the other members also receive a few gold coins as a reward for saving Aldern.

October 8

The group members receive a message that there is a message at the Rusty Dragon. The message says that Bethana Corwin is asking for help, and the point of contact is the Rusty Dragon. They easily find Bethana, and she then tells the group what she needs help with. She tells that her employer, Ameiko Kaijitsu, has disappeared. She noticed in the morning that Ameiko’s room was empty, and she hadn’t slept in her bed. In addition, she found a message from Ameiko’s brother, which is worrying because they are not on good terms.
