Chapter 16: Break and Surprise Attack

March 2

The group approaches to within twenty meters of the goblins, and then Neiia creates a large fireball and shoots it a few meters in front of the goblins, who start running away at full speed. The group reaches Sandpoint without problems.

The group repairs supplies and determines that they cannot, for example, get Neiia’s armor repaired here, so they decide to go to Magnimar.

March 3

The group leaves for Magnimar.

March 5

The group arrives in Magnimar. They start looking for a good guide.

March 7

Jaysek finds a good guide who then starts looking for the wizard who can repair items.

March 8

They find a wizard who knows how to repair items with magic powers. They repair Agnarr’s and Neiia’s armors. Next, they search for magic potions. They visit the first shop, but nothing useful is found there, and the other merchant has stopped making magic potions altogether.

March 10

The group returns to Sandpoint. Jaysek applies for a priest post and gets the job without problems. Ertak is told that they have already hired a new assistant priest, so his services are not needed. Kieron becomes a non-commissioned officer in the light cavalry, Agnarr continues his job as an expedition guide. Neiia registers again as an officer on a ship.

March 17

A week later, Ertak finally manages to talk his way back into the church, and he also becomes an assistant priest there.

October 1

Official ceremonial opening of the new church. Jaysek and Ertak have been organizing this opening of the new church and the ceremony for many of the last months. The whole Sandpoint is celebrating, food is being served throughout the city, and there is a full festival atmosphere.

First, the local mayor gives a speech, and his speech is really good. After that, the local sheriff tells the crowd to behave themselves. Next, the local high priest (Jaysek’s and Ertak’s boss) performs a preliminary consecration of the church.

The celebration continues, and as the sun sets, the high priest takes the thunder stones and strikes them together, creating a loud sound. At the same time, three goblins with torches run in from the direction of the food carts, and singing is heard from the side.

Goblins chew and goblins bite.
Goblins cut and goblins fight.
Stab the dog and cut the horse,
Goblins eat and take by force!

Goblins race and goblins jump.
Goblins slash and goblins bump.
Burn the skin and mash the head,
Goblins here and you be dead!

Chase the baby, catch the pup.
Bonk the head to shut it up.
Bones be cracked,
flesh be stewed,
We be goblins!
You be food!

Kieron only notices the song and starts crawling away from under the same table where she and Neiia were looking for something. Around them are quite a lot of other people watching what they are crawling under the table for. Jaysek has noticed the enemies and sees how one of the goblins sets the high priest’s cloak on fire and another comes to his side. Jaysek draws his sword and strikes the goblin that came next to him so that the goblin drops the torch. Ertak notices that the goblin who lit the high priest’s cloak has gone inside the church with a torch, so he goes after him. Agnarr tries to run to the goblins but slips on a banana peel and hits his face directly into a cream cake on the table. Agnarr wonders how Kieron, who is floundering on the ground, managed to throw a banana peel this far.

Kieron finally gets up while Neiia also rises from under the table and starts casting a fire bolt. Ertak reaches the church door and sees that the goblin inside has just opened the inner door of the church, so he orders the goblin to close the door, which the goblin obeys. Ertak runs after him and tries to hit the goblin in the back with his fist, but the goblin dodges.

Agnarr tries to get up but slips on the banana peel again and hits his face into a soup bowl. Kieron draws her weapon, but her intoxicated state somewhat slows her actions, and when two goblins have come into her reach, she tries to hit one of them, but because there is in reality only one goblin, she doesn’t hit due to her intoxicated state.

Neiia shoots her fire bolt past the goblin and hits a militia type in the back, and he falls unconscious or dead to the ground. The goblin in front of Kieron goes to the side to get something shiny from there and runs in that direction. Jaysek sees the goblin coming near him, so he hits the fallen goblin in the back so that he falls unconscious to the ground.
