Chapter 10: Arrival in Sandpoint

July 25

In the afternoon, as the group approaches Sandpoint, they are met by a confident and alluring woman dressed in a red, short, fitted outfit with a hooded cloak draped over her shoulders. She exudes both charm and danger, her stance assertive and powerful. Her outfit, which combines elements of a rogue and a noble, is detailed with stylish patterns, a belt, and high boots. Very pointed ears of an Elf peek from under the hood. She holds a leash in one hand—its other end attached to the creature beside her.

Beside her looms a massive, blue-skinned humanoid creature with sharp fangs and a wild expression. The being has the brutish physique of a troll, with muscular arms and thick legs. It wears ragged fur and carries a heavy backpack and holds is a large sword engraved with runes, implying it serves as both a beast of burden and possibly a companion, guard or servant. The leash connecting them suggests a master-pet dynamic, though whether the troll is truly tamed remains uncertain.

The woman says that she has extra magical items for sale, but not much time, so a decision must be made in a couple of minutes. The woman asks the troll for bag 32. The bag reportedly contains various items to be worn around the neck. She apparently has a protective item similar to what the group already has for the price of 3.6 gold coins. Items that protect against magic and poisons cost 5.2 gold coins. The same price is also charged for one that protects against physical damage once a day for a few seconds. The next price category is 6.8 gold coins, which provides a lot of protection against sun bolts, and an item that enhances healing spells costs the same, as well as an item that once a day resets one’s attempt to restore vitality by concentrating. In the same price range is another item that makes sneaking easier and once a day creates a large area of darkness that lasts for five minutes.

The next price category is 8.4 gold, which improves healing a bit more than usual. For ten gold, one can get a teleportation spell that can be used when one is hit, but only once per day.

Neiia negotiates and sells the group’s fog horn, floating ring, hand guards, and water crystal. The group buys a necklace that enhances healing and an amulet that protects against poisons and similar threats.

After this, the group arrives at Sandpoint.

July 27

The group repairs items and acquires supplies to replace those consumed. The group also begins to look for jobs. Ertak has luck in his job search because when he goes to ask for his old job back, he hears that a new priest has already been hired in his place. At the same moment, loud shouting is heard from behind, and Ertak is told that, on the other hand, the new priest is now arguing with his wife again, and the wife wants to move to a larger city, so it’s possible that the position will become vacant. After a moment, the new priest arrives and states that unfortunately he now has to move to a larger city and apologizes for possibly causing problems, but Ertak promises to help and take over his work. Kieron finds work as a musician, Agnarr guides some scientist, and Neiia is hired as a third officer on a ship. Jaysek rests for three months first and then starts looking for work.

February 22, year 2

Everyone in the group receives a letter requesting the group to gather at the Rusty Dragon inn, and when everyone is there, they should continue to Falcon’s Hollow. The letter states that there is some disease in the town, and there is already an herbalist there, but he is missing some supplies, so the group needs to go there to talk with him.

Kieron is already ready at the inn; Ertak arrives first, followed by Agnarr, but Neiia and Jaysek are nowhere to be seen. At some point, Jaysek’s shouting is heard from outside asking if they are coming, the horses are already ready.

The group sets off. They go south along the road and in the evening get quite close to Falcon’s Hollow, but it’s starting to get dark, and this is the last village before slightly wilder regions. They spend the night there.

February 23

The group continues the journey and reaches the waterfall in the evening. According to Ertak, these falls should have been right after the previous village, but apparently Ertak had just remembered the map incorrectly. The group spends the night in the forest.

February 24

After traveling all day, the group catches sight of a wooden fence, which could be Falcon’s Hollow
