At 12:55 am, Barrett, Zeus, and Hera were in the energy field in the park. He was holding two duffle bags of energy rocks, and then it was lights out. Barrett felt a cold, hard surface on his backside but couldn’t see, hear, or smell anything. Then he felt a sharp stick, and he lost everything. When he woke up, he was lying on the ground in the park with Zeus and Hera beside him.

They got up slowly because every part of his body hurt, and he was sure Zeus and Hera felt the same. Barrett, Zeus, and Hera walked gently home, and he took a long hot shower. Barrett felt better but was still sore, and he noticed small marks were all over his body. He saw Zeus and Hera sleeping on his bed and felt bad they were hurting. After dressing, he checked out his stocks and the market.

Everything was fine, and no adjustments were needed. Then he checked Public Safety Products, selling at $40.90 a share, down from $62.90. So Pinnacle Investments started their yoyo, and Barrett bought 2000 shares. He figured the stock wouldn’t go any lower and rise when the rumors were proven false. Then Barrett turned off the computer, went outside, and disconnected the trailer from the hummer. Then he pulled the Silverado outside, put the hummer in the garage, put on the hitch lock, and set the stabilizers.

After breakfast, he went to Alfonso Lombardi’s house and trained his German Shepherd, Maximo. When Barrett finished, Mr. Lombardi asked how his trip to Florida went. He said it was good, minus the long drive. Then, he had to buy proper riding clothes, cowboy boots, and a hat. That led to him purchasing a two-year-old colt named Thunder. Then Barrett drove by Soyna’s house on the way home. The street was full of parked cars, and he wondered what was happening. After lunch, Barrett went to the YMCA, anxious to resume his swimming workout. He took the first few laps easy, then increased his speed and felt the burn when he finished. Calvin had a cloud account and backed up everything to it. Barrett erased the files and then reformatted the laptop’s hard drive. Barrett kept a copy because Calvin had some interesting files and programs he wanted to check out.

Dinner at the Hurr house was tense, and Katerine was worried. She hadn’t heard from Calvin and couldn’t reach him by phone or email. Katherine needed dirt on Daniel to get a favorable settlement in her planned divorce. Her lawyer said the most she could get was 50% of their assets and alimony for five years. That wasn’t enough, and Kim and Kristen needed help, too. Calvin, her cousin and long-time lover, promised to get dirt or drug Daniel and photograph him with a prostitute he’d used before for that purpose.

Daniel waited until Katherine put dinner on the table and asked her how her cousin Calvin was doing. Katherine choked on the food she was eating and said she hadn’t seen him in over a year. Daniel poured a glass of cold water on her head, waking her up. He said there’s no time to sleep, and you must pack. Daniel said he knew she had taken money for her lover and daughters. So, he’s doing an audit and will deduct what’s missing from her settlement. But the good news is your atm card works, and four thousand dollars is available. That’s your monthly allowance, so spend it wisely because there won’t be any more until next month. Oh, and tell your daughters they are cut off, so I’m saving money, and Daniel laughed, and Katherine cried.

Calvin Semien woke up, and his whole body hurt. Then he noticed he was nude and in the woods and wondered how he got there. Calvin remembered getting a call from Katherine that Daniel was going to Riverside Park and to hurry. That’s the last thing he remembered, and he struggled to stand up. His clothes weren’t anywhere he could see, so Calvin walked toward the light he saw in the trees. It was an empty parking lot. Calvin passed out from the pain and fell face-first into the parking lot pavement.

Barrett woke up early, and ghost walked to the warehouse with Zeus and Hera. After doing his forms and tai chi, Barrett did his martial arts workout and finished with his special exercises. It felt good hitting something again, and he felt exhilarated from his workout. Then Barrett disconnected the trap on the overhead door and drove the van home with Zeus and Hera. He hooked up the Airstream trailer and towed it back to the warehouse.

Once the trailer was in the warehouse, he remembered the small duffle bag the dogs had found in the tree behind DeMarco’s trailer. It was in the outside storage compartment with his energy rocks and Drummel tools. Barrett removed the small duffle bag and looked inside. It was filled with cash, a pouch of diamonds, and an accounting journal.
