The sensation of cold water pouring into the glass was almost hypnotic.

John stared blankly at the swirling liquid, his mind whirling with emotions and memories. It was like stepping into a time capsule, reliving the past in the most intimate, intense way possible.

He’d forgotten how raw it felt, how liberating, how it made his heart pound and blood rush through his veins.

The sight of his wife in the arms of another man. The raw, wild energy permeated the room when Calvin took charge. The crazy rush of watching it all, of being an active observer.

It wasn’t just about getting off on watching; there was a whole messed-up mix of emotions swirling around.

It was like watching Sia come alive, shedding inhibitions and societal constraints, transforming into something else. The way she responded to Calvin, the way her eyes, dark and smoky with desire, would flick to John’s in middle of it all ... it was intoxicating.

He remembered how much he loved this. How much he relished the conflicting duality of it- the sweet pain of watching his wife with another man and the wild, thrilling joy of seeing her find such pleasure.

It’s a twisted fucking thing, he mused, a grin creeping onto his face. But God, I love it.

It was an addiction, a drug, a euphoria he thought he’d left behind in his youth, but here he was, drawn back into its intoxicating grip.

The sound of running water from the bathroom broke through his reverie. Calvin was cleaning up. Sia, in the meantime, had taken a shower and was now probably waiting for him in the living room.

John took a deep breath, picked up the glass of water, and walked out of the kitchen.

She was on the couch, curled up in a bathrobe, her damp hair clinging to her forehead and neck. Her cheeks were flushed, her eyes still hazy with the afterglow of their ... encounter.

She looked sated, thoroughly fucked. The sight of her, so vulnerable, sent a wave of tenderness through him.

He handed her the glass, and she took it with a small, sleepy smile.

As he turned to leave, her hand shot out, grabbing his wrist, her grip surprisingly firm. She pulled him down beside her, her body molding against his, warm and soft. She snuggled into him, her head resting on his shoulder, her breath a warm sigh against his skin.

She planted a soft, sweet kiss on his shoulder, her lips lingering on his skin. The scent of her shampoo, mingled with the faint musky aroma of sex, filled his senses. He wrapped an arm around her, pulling her closer.

“Tell me something,” Sia murmured, her voice muffled against his shirt.

“Something? Like what?”

“Anything. Just ... talk.”

“Alright, here’s something,” he began, a playful smirk tugging at his lips. “Why don’t scientists trust atoms?”

“I don’t know ... why?”

“Because they make up everything!”

Sia groaned, swatting him lightly on the chest. “Oh god, that was awful,” But she was laughing, and the sound, light and carefree, filled the room. “You’re such a weirdo.”

“Hey, you asked me to tell you anything!”

“Hmm ... true. Alright, I’ll humor you. Give me another one.”

“Oh, you’re in for it now. Okay, how about this? Why can’t a bicycle stand up by itself?”

“Let me guess because it’s two-tired?”

“Hey, no fair! You stole my punchline!”

Sia giggled. “Well, you better step up your game, mister.”

“Alright, alright. You’re on. Why don’t we ever see elephants hiding in trees?”

“I don’t know ... why?”

“Because they’re really good at it!”

“Ugh, that’s so bad, it’s good.”

“I aim to please.”

“Hmm ... this is fun, but I think it’s your turn to be on the receiving end. Got a question for you, smarty pants.”

“Shoot.”

“If you were an animal, what would you be?”

It was such a random question. So out of blue. But John guessed maybe that was the point.

“A sloth, probably.”

“A sloth? Really? Why?”

“Think about it. They just hang around all day, eating, sleeping, not a care in the world. Sounds like a good life to me.”

“Only you would come up with something like that.”

“What about you? If you could be an animal, what would you be?”

“Hmm ... a bird, I think. To be able to fly, to see the world from a different perspective, sounds thrilling to me.”

“Sounds just like you, adventurous and free-spirited.”

“Alright, Mr. Sloth, your turn. Ask me something.”

The back-and-forth continued their laughter and teasing filling the quiet living room. It was an ordinary moment, but to them, it was special. It was theirs. No matter how twisted their desires were, this was the reality of their relationship – a deep, loving connection that transcended the physical. It was the little moments like these that made everything else worth it.

It was such a random conversation too. So out of the blue. But John reasoned maybe that was the point.

Just then Calvin walks in wearing nothing but a towel around his waist, his dark skin still glistening with moisture from the shower.

“Alright, what’s going on here?” Calvin queried, settling comfortably into the couch.

“Sia was just enjoying my comedy genius.”

“Oh, the same comedy genius that got you booed off the stage at the college talent show?”

Sia burst into laughter, “I remember that! You were so confident, too!”

“Yes, yes. We’ve established my stand-up career was short-lived. Happy now?”

“Very,” Calvin chuckled. “But in all fairness, Sia, you weren’t any better. Remember the karaoke night?”

“Oh, not that!.”

John’s face lit up. “Oh, yes! The karaoke night! Sia, you were so off-key, the DJ had to cut the music!”

“You’re both terrible!”

“Hey, at least we weren’t the ones who nearly burned down the chemistry lab,” John countered, looking pointedly at Calvin.

“Hey! In my defense, they should’ve been clearer about not mixing those two compounds. Besides it was just a small fire.”

“A small fire that triggered the fire alarm and evacuated the entire building at three in the morning? It still gives me goosebumps.” Sia retorted.

“Touché”

“And what about you, John? You’re not off the hook,” he shot back. “Remember that open mic night at O’Malley’s?”

“Wait, what’s this?” Sia asked, turning to John, her eyes wide with curiosity. “I’ve never heard this story.”

“Well, your husband here decided he was the next ... I don’t know, Jerry Seinfeld, I guess. Wrote a whole five-minute routine. It was...”

“Wait, let me guess. A disaster?” Sia suggested, grinning at her husband.

“A complete disaster. People were literally walking out.”

“Hey, that’s not true!” John protested. “They were leaving because ... because the room was too hot!”

“That’s one way to look at it. But honestly, I think it was more because they couldn’t handle your sense of humor.”

“What can I say? I was ahead of my time. Comedy is subjective.”

Sia shook her head, still laughing. “Sure, honey. Whatever you say.”

It is strange, she thought, how easily they fell back into this familiar dynamic, this easy banter as if the years – and the events of the past few weeks – hadn’t happened.

“By the way, I am leaving town tonight,” Calvin announced casually, dropping the bombshell into their lighthearted conversation.

The color drained from Sia’s face. It felt like a punch to the gut. After all these years, they had just started picking up where they left off. All the fiery passion, the rekindled chemistry... It was just ... starting.

John asked, “Where’re you headed, man?”

“Canada. Just some work stuff, won’t be back for a couple of weeks.”

A strange emptiness settled in Sia’s stomach. It wasn’t disappointment, exactly. More like ... a craving unsatisfied. An itch that had been left unscratched for too long, and just when she had started feeling that satisfying relief, it was going to be left itching again.

“Work? Can’t it wait?” Sia asked.

“No can do. This client’s been hounding me for a while. I’ve been putting them off.”

Sia tried to sound upbeat. “Well, you’ll be back, so...”

“But there’s something,” Calvin added, a mischievous glint in his eye.

“What?”

“I’m going to Ibiza after wrapping up my work. And guess what? Angela’s coming with me.”

“Angela? Who...?”

“Wait,” Sia interrupted, her eyes widening. “Angela ... Professor Angela?”

Professor Angela, their notoriously hot (and notoriously strict) professor. Despite her stern and stoic demeanor, there had always been rumors about her.

John’s memory clicked. “Wait a minute ... didn’t you...?”

Calvin grinned, the picture of smug satisfaction. “Yep. Tapped that ass back in college. Remember you two walking in on us? Still the best ass I ever ... well, one of the best. She still has that sweet peach.”

“She did have a nice...” John started, then stopped abruptly, catching Sia’s pointed glare. “But yours is better, babe. Definitely better.”

Sia shook her head, a mix of amusement and exasperation on her face. “Where are you going with this, Calvin?”

“Why don’t you two join me in Ibiza? Think about it. Ibiza. Beaches. Parties. And the four of us. It will be great.”

Sia’s mind raced with the possibilities. Images of all three of them on the sun-soaked beaches, her in a skimpy bikini, Calvin in a snug trunk, his ebony skin glistening in the sun ... The thought of his hands spreading lotion all over her body made her shiver with anticipation. But her fantasy was interrupted by John’s pragmatic voice.

“We can’t. We have work. It’s a busy period at the office.”

Sia sighed, snapping back to reality. She wanted to refute John’s logic, but she knew he was right. They were in the middle of a huge project at work and couldn’t just leave it hanging. As much as the thought of a fun-filled vacation with Calvin and John thrilled her, it wasn’t something they could do right now.
