One of my ‘wives’ was flying around the house in total disarray and nearly screaming she was so nervous and tense and irritable and insatiable – all at the same time.
She begged me to pound her into the bed until she couldn’t see straight. I left her vision intact, but otherwise did as she wanted. I also left her full of my man juice, but she didn’t seem to care that it started to run down her leg as soon as she stood and redressed next to the bed.
“What time is it?” she asked. That was the question that she’d asked every five minutes since she got up and got breakfast for most of us in the house at Acre Woods. She sat. She stood. She sat. She stood. “What time is it?” Repeat often.
Vanessa’s restaurant was having its mid-April Grand Opening starting at five o’clock that afternoon. Further, the place was booked out. Not a table or chair to spare. Further, the weather was close to ideal, so there’d be no cancelations or no-shows.
According to Todd, everything was ready. He’d gone over just after lunch to open the building so some of the staff could go in and start preparing the accoutrements that would go with the main meals. Some of that had been done the day before, too.
Todd and Trish had mounted a smooth advertising campaign announcing the restaurant and the Grand Opening. The website was up and running and could take reservations, or one could also make online reservations through some of the popular apps that did that. The next available booking looked to be three-weeks out. The place would be popular to start. I thought that people were looking for just this type of place in the area.
Todd had judiciously given out some comp seating to the town council members and several members of the press that did restaurant reviews. The Circle had also gotten preferential seating, but scattered all through the restaurant.
If things went as they looked, between five and nine-thirty when Todd planned to close, about four-hundred meals would be prepared and, oh yes, mostly paid for. Todd was onsite, and promised that he’d call Vanessa if it became necessary for her to show up before she needed to start about three o’clock on some of the main entrées.
In the kitchen, there were four sous chefs – under-studies to Vanessa. There were also five other helpers. She’d worked with all of them during the preceding week about her menus and the way she prepared things. They were her disciples, and were following her bidding to the letter.
About two o’clock, Vanessa screamed, “I can’t wait. I have to go there NOW!” Everyone knew where ‘there’ was.
I took my laptop computer and drove Vanessa the few miles to ‘her’ restaurant. She fidgeted in the car the entire ride and turned a piece of tissue into confetti. I went in with her and we were greeted by Todd, who didn’t look surprised.
Vanessa ran into the kitchen and went to work helping her staff. I volunteered to help out, but Todd said all they were waiting for were customers to arrive starting at five o’clock. I adopted a table in a corner of the bar area and went back to doing some TNA work on my laptop and cellphone.
Predictably, the first customers started to arrive around 4:45 p.m. The very first was an elderly couple that I assumed always ate dinner on the early side so they could get home and go to bed early. Anyway, the eighteen-year-old teen hostess, Carmen, welcomed them with a big smile and escorted them to a table. Nadia, one of the waitresses, was right there to get their drink orders and care for them. Vanessa’s was open for business.
After those arrivals, there was a steady stream of arrivals, each having a reservation. I did hear Todd apologizing to one couple that came in without reservations – there just were no tables available. Nicely, he gave them a card for a ten-percent discount when they came back, but he did urge them to call ahead for seating.
By six o’clock, the place was abuzz and very busy. Every seat was taken and the wait staff crew of ten was hustling meals out of the kitchen. Todd made trips to each table to welcome people to the restaurant and to thank them for their patronage of the new place.
Kim and others from the Circle arrived and we had our dinners, and the meals were as good as she had been serving us at home. This would be a popular place. I listened for comments from surrounding tables about the food, and it was getting rave comments. I said a little prayer of thanks. People would come back.
As we finished, the waiting area was full of people waiting for their table. We hadn’t tarried, but other people must be taking longer than the standard time that Todd has estimated for a meal. I made sure we were all making great comments about the meals as we left so that we’d be overheard. I knew people wouldn’t be disappointed.
Todd and Vanessa didn’t arrive back home until nearly eleven o’clock. We’d waited for them before starting third rounds. They were tired but over the moon about how successful the first night had been. Todd wouldn’t have the financials until the next day, but he just knew they’d be good.
We cheered, stripped away their clothing and then make love to each of them. Vanessa slept with Kim, Debbie, and me that night. She all but passed out in my arms as I carried her to bed.
Todd reported that the next night went smoother and without the number of back-ups Vanessa’s had on opening night. Again, the comments were all favorable. He’d also evaluated the receipts from the first night and just smiled broadly. The place was wildly profitable.
