“So, what did you two crazy kids get up to last night?” Kayla asked from the backseat as Megan drove down Cornelia street with Steven in the passenger seat.
“That is none of your business, young lady,” Megan stated primly, her hands gripping the steering wheel as her long braid fell down her back.
“Hmph,” Kayla pouted, leaning back against the seat and crossing her arms. “You’re no fun.”
“I don’t know why you’re complaining,” Steven said, “I’m the one who had to stay in the car while Megan went in to get you.”
“She didn’t want Carter to know she had a sleepover with you,” Kayla giggled, running her braid through her hand, the same style of braid as Megan’s. “She ran in, kissed Carter, then the two of us left him with Beatrice.”
“I know, I understand,” Steven replied. “It’s a lot for a six-year-old, to see his mother with someone. Plus, Megan hasn’t really dated since he was born. Uh, you knew that, right?”
“Yes, I knew,” Kayla confirmed. “I remember when I first realized Daddy was going on a date after Mommy died. Now that I know more details, it was definitely after he boinked Megan. So, I was a lot older than Carter. And he didn’t spend the night away from me.”
“That still must have been rough,” Steven sympathized.
“Yeah, it really was weird,” Kayla nodded. “He didn’t have a girlfriend until Lexi. A few short-term flings and one-night stands. Oh, and a couple of really, REALLY awkward dates.”
“I have enough trouble dating without kids,” Steven laughed. “I can’t imagine dating with one.”
“Kids are a lot more observant than people realize. I knew Daddy was sad and I knew he didn’t really enjoy the dates he went on, it was just something he felt he was supposed to do,” Kayla sighed. “Maybe you’ll meet my father sometime. You two are tunnel buddies.”
“Kayla!” Megan exclaimed, finally getting involved in the conversation.
“Sorry, Hurricaine Lexi is rubbing off on me. Besides, it’s true,” Kayla shrugged shamelessly. “Both named Steven, both scored with you, both like numbers and spreadsheets; they have a lot in common. You’ve got a real specific type, Megan.”
“Your dad’s rich,” Megan rolled her eyes. “Steven hates the rich.”
“He does not,” Steven interjected, referring to himself in the third person. “He just, you know, cares about everyone for the person they are, not for how much money they make for a capitalist. Everyone deserves a life of dignity, and there is no such thing as marrying up or down. We’re all people.”
“Daddy doesn’t judge people,” Kayla argued. “He cares about everyone and he doesn’t let his money go to his head. He tries to do what’s right, and he makes sure everyone who works for him is taken care of.”
“Then I’m sure we’d get along,” Steven smiled.
“Can we talk about something else?” Megan asked, fidgeting slightly in her seat.
“Nervous?” Steven asked, placing his hand on her thigh.
“Yes,” Megan mumbled, staring at the road.
“Don’t worry, I know you’ll have no trouble wearing the all-powerful Megan mask once we get there,” Steven assured her. “And your dad will see you’re the best there is.”
“That’s so sweet,” Kayla commented. “I’m glad I came out here and got to know you both.”
“We’re all happy to have you,” Megan told the teenager. “Even if you don’t plan to pursue a career in finance or accounting.”
“I am kind of a waste of an internship, aren’t I?” Kayla smirked.
“Not at all,” Steven countered. “You’re learning a lot, and the experience will help you in any kind of job.”
“And I’m happy to give a wonderful and smart young lady some experience and guidance,” Megan added. “It’s important for women to be there for each other.”
“Thank you,” Kayla said, looking nervous herself. “Y-you’ve met her father, right? Theodore Bauer.”
“Yeah, I met him,” Steven answered slowly. “He was nice enough. Confident, loved to talk numbers, even at a charity event.”
“Don’t expect nice or friendly today,” Megan scoffed. “His work personality is all business. No nonsense, no friendships. Everything is a transaction.”
“Gross,” Steven made a face.
“Why did you get an accounting degree?” Kayla frowned, looking at Steven.
“I like numbers,” he shrugged. “I just believe business is about people. Too many have forgotten that and instead spend their days focused on nothing but next quarter’s profits. Fuck everything and everyone else.”
“Yeah, that doesn’t sound great,” Kayla winced. “I don’t know much about business, but I don’t see the point in being that rigid.”
“There isn’t one, it’s extremely old-fashioned and detrimental to society,” Steven responded before looking over at Megan. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to speak poorly of your father.”
“No, please keep going,” Megan laughed. “In fact, feel free to criticize the corporate world right in front of him.”
“I’m not gonna do that,” Steven rolled his eyes.
“Why not? Chicken?” Megan teased, making Kayla laugh.
“No. It’s because Sphinx pays well,” Steven began slowly. “Everyone is paid a living wage, and he isn’t forcing that return to office bullshit. That fucking idiot bank CEO is actually wasting billions on his temper tantrum about remote work. All because he needs everyone under his thumb.”
“Whoa, tell us how you really feel,” Kayla giggled.
“Sorry, I don’t like being treated like a child,” Steven said. “I’m a responsible adult who doesn’t need to be hovered over to get work done. Also, if I was just slacking off all day, you’d be able to tell. I still think it’s weird that I’m considered radical when all my views involve kindness first, in believing everyone deserves a good life, and in thinking not everything needs to revolve around money.”
There was a moment of awkward silence.
“So, is that how you’re gonna ask the billionaire CEO if you can marry his daughter?” Kayla asked.
“The daughter who is also a CEO?” Megan teased.
“No, I’m not gonna do that,” Steven shook his head, his heart beating a little faster at the thought of marriage. Did he and Megan really have that kind of future? “And Megan is an amazing CEO. She treats her employees well and still makes a profit.”
“Employees work harder when they feel appreciated,” Megan reasoned with a giggle.
“That they do,” Steven nodded in approval.
“Also, should someone who’s sleeping with his boss really be lecturing others on business ethics?” Kayla added. “I don’t have a problem with it, but if you get promoted, well, people might say you’re sleeping your way to the top.”
“And here I was thinking only women got accused of that,” Megan laughed.
“I, well, okay,” Steven mumbled. “Although, she’s actually my boss’s boss. But, but! If we become official we will disclose, per company policy.”
“I don’t think anyone cared about the labels the CEO and head of HR used. They still got caught making out and snuggling at a concert,” Kayla countered.
“They were both married to other people, that’s different,” Steven argued. “Megan and I are both single.”
“Daddy told me the appearance of impropriety can be as bad as any wrongdoing,” Kayla continued.
“Why did you bring her from California?” Steven asked Megan.
“Because she’s a bright young lady,” Megan smirked. “One who knows not to mention my nightly activities at the office, I assume?”
“Yes, of course I know that,” Kayla snorted.
“By the way, I noticed you call your father ‘Daddy,’” Steven observed. “I’m not even sure how to ask, I’m just surprised someone your age uses that term.”
“Mommy died when I was seven,” Kayla shrugged. “I guess I just never grew out of it. Daddy is the most important person in my life and it was always just the two of us. Part of me stayed in that little girl phase, I suppose.” A sly grin crossed Kayla’s face. “There is a reason I’d do unspeakable things just to hear I’m a good girl.”
“Too much information,” Steven stated while Megan laughed.
“You do unspeakable things, you’re gorgeous and smart, and you are incredibly flexible,” Megan observed. “A guy would have to be crazy to break up with you.”
“You’d think,” Kayla sighed. “I’m actually trying to be more selective about who I mess around with. I want to feel a connection with someone.”
“It’s an amazing feeling,” Megan glanced over at Steven with a smile. “It’s totally different.”
“I agree completely,” Steven nodded.
The tense atmosphere at Sphinx was apparent from the moment they entered the lobby. Hannah was fussing with a vase of flowers, trying to make sure it looked perfect on the table. When they entered the main workspace, Danny walked right by them while muttering under his breath about signal strength. Brenda was rushing around the office, making sure there wasn’t a single piece of trash anywhere. Sophie Tran nearly walked into a cubicle while typing away on her tablet, making sure Sphinx’s social media posts were right.
It was eerily quiet, with no one engaging in the usual small talk. Steven rushed off to speak with Leslie about the numbers they were going to present to Theodore Bauer, barely having the time to wish the ladies a good morning. Megan led Kayla through the cubicles and both women noticed that Sienna and Camilla weren’t engaged in their usual early morning gossip.
“Good morning, Kayla,” Noah said when she joined him and Theo for bookkeeping lessons. “You’re a vision, as always.”
“Thank you,” Kayla replied politely.
“Okay, uh, please take a seat and we’ll get started,” Theo smiled, offering the chair in front of his desk.
Theo and Noah sat on either side of Kayla as they started explaining the basics of bookkeeping. They explained what a bookkeeper did and the importance of accuracy when recording financial transactions. Theo was having some anxiety due to the upcoming arrival of Theodore Bauer, and Noah was more interested in flirting than teaching. They paused their lesson when Megan sent out a company-wide email with one simple message.
Mister Bauer is arriving this afternoon, please be available and professional.
“I’ve never met a billionaire before,” Theo commented. “Well, I guess Megan counts, but she’s not the one on the cover of all those finance magazines. Her father’s the one they talk about when articles give advice on how to manage money like a billionaire.”
“Are you nervous?” Kayla smiled kindly.
“Yeah, and not just because he’s rich,” Theo admitted. “These heavy social situations stress me out.”
“You’re worried about nothing,” Noah said to his roommate with a grin. “He probably won’t even notice you. Although, when he gets a look at my skills, he might pick me for that manager slot on the spot.”
“I don’t think he cares who gets picked to manage the bookkeepers,” Theo snorted.
“Yeah, fair. But, admit it, it was funny,” Noah shrugged. “Honestly, I’m nervous too. I wonder what he’s like, if he’s friendly, if he’ll fire people...”
“I don’t think he’ll just walk in and start telling people to pack up their desks,” Kayla swallowed weakly, starting to get nervous about meeting the fifth richest man in the world.
“I could never tell someone to pack up their desk,” Theo winced. “Uh, maybe I’m not management material after all...”
“So, you both applied for the same promotion?” Kayla asked.
“We did,” Noah replied while Theo nodded. “And I know I can be an ass, but Theo is a nice guy, he’d make a good manager. He cares about people, not some pathetic power trip.”
“Thanks,” Theo smiled.
“Shall I leave you two alone?” Kayla teased, waggling her eyebrows.
“I think I’d prefer if Theo left us alone,” Noah countered smoothly, making Kayla roll her eyes.
“Or, you know, how about we get some actual work done?” Theo suggested.
Noah and Theo turned out to be decent teachers. Theo was a little awkward, and Noah was very flirty, but they were both nice guys who made their job fun. They went over how invoices were logged, how to match payments, how to check for discrepancies, and how to allocate charges.
Kayla entered a few test transactions, allowing her to gain an understanding of the general ledger. She might not have been pursuing a career in finance, but Kayla still asked insightful questions and proved she was a smart person. It was quickly apparent to Kayla that bookkeeping was a lot more involved than just data entry.
“The big thing you need to know is that if the numbers don’t match, it’s bad. Very bad,” Theo explained.
Noah moved his chair closer, leaning in to smile at Kayla before looking at the screen. “Here, let me show you a quick shortcu-”
“She doesn’t need to learn shortcuts, she needs to learn to do things right,” Theo interrupted.
“You’re boring now that you have a girlfriend,” Noah sighed, sitting back.
“He’s not boring,” Kayla giggled. “He’s being polite and professional. Maybe you could take a lesson from him.”
“Listen to her, she’s smart,” Theo grinned.
“It’s so weird that you’re the serious one, but hey, Sienna’s been a good influence,” Noah said to Theo before looking at Kayla. “You are smart, Kayla. And incredibly beautiful. I- I’ll just get right to the point. I’d like to get to know you a little better. Do you wanna grab lunch? I know a nice place nearby.”
“The four of us? Theo can bring Sienna? Oh! Maybe Steven or Megan can join us, too,” Kayla grinned.
“But, I thought ... I meant...” Noah trailed off.
“Works for me,” Theo interjected.
“I was kind of hoping it would just be the two of us, Kayla,” Noah explained. “So we could really get to know each other.”
“Is that really what you want? To get to know me better?” Kayla asked bluntly. “Because it feels like you just want to get me into bed.”
“Uh...” Noah trailed off while Theo’s eyes widened in shock.
“I’m sorry, I don’t mean to be rude,” Kayla said, glancing around to make sure no one was nearby. “You’ve just been coming on really strong and I feel like I’d just be another notch for you. I don’t think it’s a good idea since I am working here. I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay, I understand,” Noah sighed, looking disappointed. “Sorry if I made you uncomfortable.”
“I get the feeling that good looks and charm usually works for you?” Kayla probed.
“So, you’re saying I’m good looking?” Noah grinned and waggled his eyebrows.
“You know you are,” Kayla giggled. “And that’ll get you laid, for sure, but it’s not genuine. So, it might be tough to really get to know someone.”
“I thought I just wanted to get laid, according to you?” Noah countered with a smirk.
“I don’t know, you tell me?” Kayla asked with a smile.
“I do love the casual thing,” Noah admitted, looking a little nervous. “But, yeah, I guess I wouldn’t mind something more serious. That would be new for me.”
“Just look at how happy Theo is. I barely know him, and I can tell,” Kayla responded. “I’m actually a little jealous.”
“Thanks, Sienna’s amazing,” Theo grinned. “It’s weird; I’m usually the one getting a lecture on my behavior.”
“I’m just better at the whole party scene,” Noah said defensively.
“If you want something real, you’ll have to treat a woman as more than just a target for your lust,” Kayla told him. “Be genuine and friendly, with no pressure. You have female friends, right? The Gang of Eight.”
“I do,” Noah nodded.
“There you go,” Kayla reasoned. “Treat her like that, and see if something more develops. In the meantime, save the smooth-talk for the club.”
“I can do that,” Noah promised.
“Good,” Kayla smiled. “Now, how about we get back to that lecture on cost objects?”
Things went much smoother after that, with the lesson continuing as the three of them got more comfortable with each other. The pressure was gone, so Kayla was soon laughing and joking with the two guys. Theo was feeling better about himself, about how it was easier to just talk to a woman. Noah was contemplating his future, wondering if he would like having a girlfriend. Kayla was having fun, but was mostly just anxious about Theodore Bauer’s visit.
The office started bustling when lunchtime approached. Brenda stopped by to remind the guys to clean their desks, turning to Kayla to request she make sure they actually did it. Jane walked by not long after, having a whispered conversation with her boss, the director of HR, James Collier. Others were rushing by as well, some carrying trash bags or cleaning supplies. Priya looked incredibly anxious, muttering to herself while running by the cubicle clutching the label maker to her chest.
When it was time for lunch, Sienna stopped by so the four of them could grab lunch together. Sienna praised Kayla for handling Noah while the small group enjoyed a light lunch at a table outside a nearby restaurant. It wasn’t the romantic date Noah had envisioned, but he still had a nice time.
Steven ate lunch with Megan in her office, trying to ease her nerves before her father arrived. Leslie, Jane, and Camilla sat in the break room while eating and talking. Camilla could tell that Jane was upset about Steven eating with Megan, so the Latina tried to distract Jane with jokes. When that didn’t work, Camilla said she was going to post her first nudes over the weekend for her subscribers. Leslie and Jane were both shocked Camilla was actually going through with it.
Lunch time was not the relaxing break it usually was for most people. Brenda was rushing around the office, making sure every inch was spotless. Danny was making sure everything worked in the board room, while also removing all the doodles from the whiteboard. Logan was eating at his desk as he confirmed all the numbers for how their marketing campaign was doing. Steven was working hard convincing Megan not to work during lunch because she was prepared and needed to relax.
A sleek limousine pulled up in front of the office building, signaling the arrival of the President and CEO of Bauer International Holdings. The driver rushed to the rear of the limo to open the door, allowing Theodore Bauer to step out onto the sidewalk. He was a tall man in a well-pressed suit, carrying a briefcase as he looked up at the office building. He had salt-and-pepper hair, a bit of a beer belly, and sharp brown eyes.
Two assistants walked behind Theodore as he made his way to the office of Sphinx Accounting and Bookkeeping Services. Hannah looked up from her desk with wide eyes, unable to form words as the fifth richest person in the world entered the lobby. Fortunately for Hannah, Megan was there to greet the wealthy businessman. Father and daughter stopped a few feet apart, staring at each other as the tension built.
“Miss Bauer,” Theodore said politely, breaking the silence.
“Mister Bauer,” Megan replied, inclining her head. “Welcome to Sphinx. Please, come with me.”
Theodore was soon seated in the board room with his two assistants. Megan was joined by Leslie Pearson and Steven Martucci to present on the accounting statements and the profit and loss reports. James Collier would talk about how the employees were handling the change in ownership while Logan Barrett explained his marketing efforts. Finally, Vanessa Lake would cover any issues with clients.
“Where do we see the most waste?” Theodore asked Steven and Leslie. “There have been a lot of changes recently, and it’s important to not spend frivolously.”
Leslie answered the question, explaining how she had Steven tracking the company’s spending, making sure there were no budget issues. Theodore had several more questions regarding the company’s largest expenses, which Steven and Leslie answered smoothly. The two of them then took their seats so James could present.
“How’s turnover been since the acquisition?” Theodore inquired firmly.
“We only lost a couple people early on,” James responded. “The initial hiring freeze clearly worried some, but the raises Megan implemented caused a surge in productivity and satisfaction. In addition, with the job market the way it is, people are hesitant to leave their jobs. Allowing remote work is another thing that keeps people wanting to stay.”
“As long as they’re doing their jobs, it doesn’t matter to me where they are while they’re doing it,” Theodore scoffed. “Hire good people and trust them to do their job. If they don’t, we deal with it. Nice work.”
“Thank you, sir,” James inclined his head.
James answered a few more questions before Logan Barrett had his turn to speak. Logan was new to Sphinx, and he spent quite a bit of time explaining the changes he’d made to their marketing strategy. The handsome English man had several charts and graphs to demonstrate his success.
“How are you differentiating in a saturated market?” Theodore wondered.
“By focusing on what sets us apart,” Logan answered in his smooth accent. “You can get a cheap bookkeeper, an individual with a side hustle. However, there are many studies showing how much bookkeeping errors cost a business. We emphasize our stellar reputation and point out that we have controls in place to handle any mistakes, ensuring our clients don’t get any nasty surprises come tax season.”
Vanessa Lake gave a short presentation on current client satisfaction. Old clients saw no issues with the ownership change, and new clients were still regularly added, giving the new bookkeepers plenty of work. Theodore only had a couple of questions before ending the meeting.
“Growth is fragile,” Theodore said to Megan. “If we stumble, there will be consequences.”
Theodore Bauer sat in The Goldfish Bowl with his two assistants as he browsed the reports on his laptop. Everyone else went back to their jobs, including Megan, who retreated to her office. Despite her outward composure, Megan was visibly shaken. She leaned her back against the closed door of her office and tilted her head back as she let out a breath. Megan whimpered when there was a knock at the door, relieved when she found out who it was.
“Hey, how are you doing?” Steven asked, closing the door behind him.
“I’m so fucking stressed,” Megan admitted, falling into his arms and hugging him tightly.
“I understand,” Steven replied, rubbing her back. “Is he always so, ah, professional with you?”
“At work, yeah,” Megan sighed. “It’s like we’re not even related. It’s all business. At least he complimented me on Sphinx’s growth.”
“He did?” Steven frowned, holding the heiress in a warm embrace. “He mentioned growth, then threatened us with consequences if it didn’t continue.”
“That was a compliment,” Megan giggled.
“I’d hate to hear an insult,” Steven chuckled.
“You definitely would,” Megan agreed, nodding. “He’s not that bad outside of work. I’m sure you remember the charity event. But, yeah, work him is terrifying.”
“I really wish I was taller so I could kiss the top of your head,” Steven commented, holding the back of her head.
“I could get on my knees?” Megan offered with a laugh.
“Normally, I’d support that, but now isn’t the time,” Steven replied smoothly.
“Yeah, not with my father in the office,” Megan giggled.
Steven released Megan so she could collapse into her desk chair while he pulled a chair up to sit near her. Megan downed half a bottle of water before taking off one of her heels so she could reach down and rub her foot. She looked worn out, but Steven could tell she was relieved the meeting was over.
“Here, let me,” Steven offered, gesturing toward her feet.
“You just wanna look up my skirt,” Megan teased, removing her other heel and placing both her feet in his lap.
“You Bauers really struggle to just say something nice, don’t you?” Steven smirked as he started to massage Megan’s feet. “You can’t say thank you, your dad can’t give a compliment.”
“Shut up and rub my feet,” Megan grumbled, tilting her head back and sighing.
“I like the blue panties, by the way,” Steven smirked as his fingers worked her foot.
“Ass,” Megan muttered, closing her eyes. “You’re lucky you’re good with your hands.”
After giving Megan a relaxing foot rub, Steven went back to his office to get some work done. Megan tried working as well, but didn’t accomplish much since she was worried about her father checking on everything. Fortunately, it looked like Theodore didn’t have any complaints, and the end of the day soon arrived. Steven and Kayla joined Megan in her office a couple minutes before the powerful businessman arrived.
“Everything appears to be in order,” Theodore Bauer said when he came in to Megan’s office. “We’ll be leaving now. Thank you for your time today, Miss Bauer. Mister Martucci.”
“Thank you, sir,” Megan inclined her head.
“It was nice to see you again, Mister Bauer,” Steven said, feeling uncomfortable with the formalities.
“You as well,” Theodore smiled, his eyes darting over to rest on Kayla. He remained professional, but Megan recognized that look. “And who is this lovely, young lady?”
“K-Kayla, Kayla Thomson, sir,” Kayla answered nervously. “I’m here on a two-week internship.”
“Thomson, Thomson...” Theodore hummed, frowning as he considered the name. “Where do I know that name from?”
“You worked with my father, Steven Thomson,” Kayla explained. “Over ten years ago when you were setting up your LA branch.”
“Yes, Steven Thomson, of course,” Theodore smiled, and Kayla wasn’t sure if the billionaire actually remembered her father... “How are you enjoying your internship? Will you be pursuing a career in business?”
“It’s a lot to learn, but everyone’s been really patient with me,” Kayla nodded politely. “And um, I haven’t decided what I’m going to major in at CSUA yet. I just know I should have some knowledge of business because Da-, uh, because my father has a successful business.”
Theodore chuckled. “Patience is a rare asset. Don’t waste it.”
“I won’t, sir,” Kayla promised. “I’m planning on taking some general courses until I figure out what I want to do. I’m grateful for this opportunity to learn before starting college. I love being able to explore New York, too.”
“What do you think of our little city?” Theodore asked kindly.
“It’s nice! But, definitely not little,” Kayla giggled. “I love being able to stay in the same house as my favorite singer. Da- my father, he isn’t really interested in society life.”
“Hm, well, I can tell you appreciate the finer things in life,” Theodore commented happily. “Tell you what; Visionary Vistas has a new private exhibition tomorrow evening. Young Lucian Graves will be hosting, he graduated in Megan’s class, in fact. You should get some culture while you’re here, I’m sure I can get your name on the list.”
“R-really?” Kayla stammered while Steven felt Megan stiffen beside him.
“Of course!” Theodore grinned widely. “I’m sure Megan will let you leave work a little early. I’m sure the exhibit will be more ... inspiring than invoices and balance sheets.”
“That’s very generous, father,” Megan began, dropping a small amount of professionalism in the privacy of her office, “but Kayla’s schedule-”
“A little culture won’t ruin her education,” Theodore cut off his daughter smoothly and firmly. “Unless you disagree Miss Thomson?”
“Actually, Megan and I were planning on attending the exhibition,” Steven spoke up, seeing Megan’s discomfort. “We could escort her.”
“Yes. Excellent,” Theodore nodded, acting like he planned it. “See to it. Tomorrow at five.”
Theodore talked for several more minutes, seemingly oblivious to the fact that the other three were uncomfortable. Kayla was nervous, Steven was concerned, and Megan was both embarrassed and slightly ashamed. The billionaire eventually made his exit, meeting up with his assistants and heading out to the limousine.
“That wasn’t as bad as it sounded, I promise,” Megan winced.
“It sounded pretty bad,” Steven commented.
“Uh, what?” Kayla frowned.
“You wanna take this one, Megs?” Steven crossed his arms and looked at the heiress.
“Dear old dad is hoping for a night with you similar to the one he enjoyed with Nell,” Megan frowned while staring at the floor.
“But, I’m not a virgin,” Kayla pointed out nervously.
“Again; too much information,” Steven sighed.
“Like you didn’t know that already,” Kayla rolled her eyes. “And, ah, no offense Megan, but um...”
“Don’t worry, he’s not the type to force anyone to do anything. I’d cut his dick off myself if he tried,” Megan growled.
Kayla laughed. “Um, I’ve actually got experience taking care of that sort of problem. But, will he cause problems with you if I don’t, ah, you know...”
“No,” Megan insisted. “But, yeah, it’s creepy. He’ll try to seduce you.”
“She’s eighteen and he’s in his fifties!” Steven exclaimed.
“I’m aware of that,” Megan bit her lower lip nervously. “And you already knew what he was like. He dumped the last couple of eighteen-year-old women he was dating, and Kayla is fucking beautiful. She’s the kind of drop-dead gorgeous he’d go for.”
“Thanks!” Kayla grinned.
