41970-18.jpg After two months, their apartment was filled with laughter and love. Raj was no longer a shy, inexperienced boy. He had blossomed into a confident and passionate lover, always putting Priya and Sara’s desires above his own.

The trio faced challenges, of course. Their unconventional relationship raised eyebrows and fueled gossip, both at the university and in their social circles. But they learned to ignore the whispers and the judgments, focusing instead on the love and happiness they found in each other’s arms.

One evening, Raj was cooking dinner in the kitchen while Priya and Sara sat at the table, sipping wine and discussing their latest classroom projects.

The apartment was filled with the comforting aroma of garlic and herbs, and the sound of Raj’s humming as he cooked.

Sara looked up from her glass, a thoughtful expression on her face. “You know, I’ve been thinking,” she said, her voice soft and contemplative. “I think it’s time we made things official.”

Priya raised an eyebrow, her interest piqued. “Official? What do you mean?”

Sara took a sip of her wine, her eyes never leaving Priya’s face. “I mean, like, legally official. I think we should all three get married.

To each other.”

Priya’s eyes widened in surprise, her wine glass pausing mid-air. “What?” she asked, her voice laced with disbelief. “You can’t be serious?”

Sara nodded, her expression earnest. “I am. I’ve been thinking about this for a while now. We’ve been living together for two months, and everything has been perfect. But I want more. I want us to be bound together legally, not just emotionally and physically.”

Priya set her glass down on the table, her mind racing.

She couldn’t believe what she was hearing. “Sara, are you sure about this? A three-way marriage? It’s ... it’s unconventional, to say the least.”

Sara leaned forward, her voice filled with conviction. “I know it’s unconventional, Priya. But that’s what makes it perfect for us. We’ve never been ones to follow the rules, have we? And besides, it’s not like we’re hurting anyone. We’re just three people who love each other and want to be together.

Nothing wrong with that.” She picked up her glass, her eyes sparkling with determination. “And besides, it’s not like we’ll be the first people to do this. There are plenty of examples of successful polyamorous marriages.”

Priya opened her mouth to respond, but before she could speak, Sara suddenly slumped forward in her chair, her glass falling from her hand and shattering on the floor.

Priya’s eyes widened in shock as she saw Sara’s lifeless body crumple to the ground, her wine-soaked blouse staining the floor. “Sara!” she screamed, jumping up from her seat and rushing to her friend’s side.

“Sara, oh god, what’s happening?” Priya’s heart pounded in her chest as she cradled Sara’s head in her lap, her eyes scanning Sara’s body for any sign of life.

She saw the wine-soaked shirt, the pale skin, and the glass shards scattered on the floor. Panic surged through her, but she knew she had to stay calm. She couldn’t afford to lose it now, not with Sara’s life at stake. She fumbled for her phone, her hands shaking as she dialed Raj’s number.

“Raj, something’s wrong with Sara,” she said, her voice trembling. “Call the doctor. She collapsed, and I think...

She might be...” Priya’s voice trembled as she looked down at Sara’s lifeless body, tears streaming down her face.

“I’m on my way!” Raj’s voice cracked over the phone, the sound of the kitchen door slamming echoing through the apartment.

Priya’s breath came in short gasps as she cradled Sara’s head in her lap, her eyes scanning her friend’s body for any sign of life. She could see the rapid rise and fall of her chest, but her eyes were closed, her body limp.

Priya’s mind raced as she tried to remember the first aid training she had taken years ago.

She pressed her hand to Sara’s chest, feeling for a pulse. It was rapid and weak. She didn’t dare move her, not knowing if something was wrong with her spine or neck. She talked to her, trying to keep her conscious. “Sara, can you hear me? Stay with me, please. Help is on the way.”

Raj burst into the room, his face pale and his eyes wide with fear. He dropped to his knees beside Priya, his hands trembling as he reached out to touch Sara’s face. “Sara, baby, what happened? Please, talk to me.”

Priya looked up at him, her eyes filled with tears.

“I don’t know, Raj. She was talking about us getting married, and then she collapsed. I think she might be ... unconscious.”

Raj’s eyes widened in horror as he took in the scene before him. “Sara? Sara, please, wake up.” His voice was choked with emotion, his hands trembling as he reached out to brush a strand of dark hair away from her face. “What happened? Why did she collapse?” he asked, his eyes flicking from Sara’s still form to Priya’s tear-streaked face.

Priya shook her head, her breath coming in short gasps. “I don’t know. One moment she was talking about us getting married, and the next, she just...

Collapsed.” Raj’s voice was thick with emotion, his breath ragged. He looked down at Sara, his eyes filled with a mix of fear and disbelief. “We need to get her help. Now.”

Priya nodded, her eyes never leaving Sara’s lifeless form. “I called the doctor. He’s on his way.”

Raj nodded, his mind racing. He knew they needed to keep Sara warm and comfortable until help arrived. He grabbed a blanket from the couch and gently wrapped it around her, careful not to move her too much.

Priya took Sara’s hand in hers, her fingers entwining with her friend’s.

“Stay with me, Sara. Please, don’t leave me,” she whispered, her voice hoarse with emotion. Raj, his heart pounding in his chest, scooped Sara up into his arms, cradling her against his chest. He could feel her breath, shallow and rapid, against his skin, and it filled him with both fear and determination.

He walked across the room, his steps unsteady, and into Sara’s bedroom. He laid her down gently on the bed, his eyes never leaving her face. He pulled the blanket up to cover her, his hands trembling as he smoothed out the wrinkles. He felt Priya’s hand on his shoulder, her touch grounding him, giving him the strength he needed to face whatever was happening.

“What do we do now?” Priya’s voice was barely above a whisper, her eyes filled with fear and uncertainty.

“Should we ... should we try to move her, Raj? To get her more comfortable?”

Raj, his voice steady and calm, looked into Priya’s eyes, his hands gently cupping her cheeks. “Don’t panic, Priya. The doctor will be here within five minutes. He’ll know what to do. For now, let’s just keep her warm and comfortable.”

Priya took a deep breath, her shoulders slumping slightly as she nodded, trusting Raj’s words. She looked down at Sara, her eyes welling up with tears. “But she’s so pale, Raj. And her breath ... it’s so shallow.”

Raj’s thumbs brushed away her tears, his voice soft and soothing. “I know, Priya. But try to stay strong for her.

“Stay with us, Sara,” she whispered, her voice trembling. “Please, don’t leave us.”

Raj placed a hand on Sara’s forehead, his fingers brushing against her skin. He could feel the cold clamminess, the lack of warmth in her body. Panic surged through him, but he tamped it down, focusing on the task at hand.

“She’s freezing,” he murmured, his voice thick with emotion. He looked up at Priya, his eyes filled with fear and determination. “We need to keep her warm.”

Priya nodded, her mind racing. She remembered something from her first aid training—shock.

She grabbed another blanket from the closet and draped it over Sara, gently tucking the edges around her body. The doctor, a tall, gray-haired man in a crisp white coat, entered Priya’s mansion, his eyes scanning the chaotic scene. He walked briskly towards Sara’s bedroom, his medical bag swinging in his hand. “What happened?” he asked, his voice calm and professional.

Priya and Raj exchanged worried glances. “She ... she was talking about us getting married, and then she just collapsed,” Priya explained, her voice trembling. The doctor set his bag down on the nightstand and began to examine Sara, his hands moving deftly and efficiently. He checked her pulse, her breathing, and her reflexes, his brow furrowing in concentration.

He then took a small flashlight from his bag and shone it into her eyes, checking her pupil dilation.

“Does she have any known medical conditions?” he asked, his eyes scanning the room for any indication.

Priya shook her head, her voice barely a whisper. “No, nothing. She’s always been healthy.”

The doctor nodded, his hands moving to Sara’s abdomen. He pressed gently, his brows furrowing as he felt something unusual. He moved his hands lower, his expression turning grave.

“When was her last menstrual cycle?” he asked, his eyes never leaving Sara’s body.

Priya and Raj shared a worried look. “Um, it’s been about two months since her last one,” Raj stammered.

The doctor’s eyes narrowed as he processed this information. He placed his hands on Sara’s lower abdomen again, his expression turning grave.

“I believe she’s experiencing a pregnancy,” he said, his voice somber.

“I’ll administer a sedative to help bring her out of shock and give her body a chance to recover.” The doctor quickly administered the medication, and they waited in tense silence. The minutes ticked by like hours as they watched Sara’s chest rise and fall, praying for a sign of life.

Raj and Priya clung to each other, their hearts pounding in unison. The doctor’s words had come as a shock, but also a relief. They hadn’t lost Sara, not yet. They just needed to help her through this.

Priya’s eyes flicked to Raj, her mind racing. “Do you think she’ll be okay?” she whispered, her voice filled with fear and uncertainty.

Raj nodded, his grip on her hand tightening. “She has to be. We can’t lose her, Priya.

We just ... we can’t,” Raj whispered, his voice choked with emotion. He looked down at Sara, her body still and pale under the blanket, and felt a wave of fear crash over him. But just as quickly, the doctor’s words echoed in his mind, like a lifeline in a storm. Don’t worry. Nothing bad has happened. It’s just happy moments of her.

The doctor, still standing by the bedside, noticed their exchange and spoke up, his voice calm and reassuring. “It’s true, you two. She’s just in shock, and her body is going through some changes. But she’s young and strong. She’ll pull through this.”

Priya let out a shaky breath, her grip on Raj’s hand tightening. “You promise?” she asked, her eyes filled with hope and fear.

“Sara, can you hear me?” Priya’s voice trembled as she leaned in closer, her hand gently cupping Sara’s cheek. “Please, say something, Sara. We’re all here for you.”

Sara’s eyelids fluttered open, her eyes meeting Priya’s gaze. She blinked a few times, her vision slowly coming into focus. The doctor smiled at her, his eyes filled with warmth and reassurance. “Good morning, Sara. You’ve given us quite a scare,” he said, his voice gentle.

Sara’s eyes widened in confusion, her gaze flicking from Priya to Raj and then to the doctor. She tried to sit up, but a wave of dizziness washed over her, and she sank back into the pillows. She asked, her voice hoarse and weak.

Priya took her hand, her thumb gently brushing against Sara’s skin. “You collapsed, Sara.

You were talking about us getting married, and then you just ... collapsed,” Priya explained, her voice trembling. The doctor nodded, his expression grave. “It’s possible that the shock of the pregnancy combined with the emotional stress of the situation caused you to faint. Your body was trying to protect itself from the sudden changes.”

Sara’s eyes widened in shock, her hand flying to her abdomen. “I’m pregnant?” she whispered, her voice barely audible.

The doctor nodded, his expression softening. “Yes, Sara. You’re about two months along.”

Sara’s eyes filled with tears as she looked at Priya and Raj, her expression a mix of fear and joy.

“I’m going to have a baby,” she whispered, her voice trembling with emotion. Priya and Raj exchanged a glance, their hearts filled with a mix of excitement and apprehension. They had always known that this day would come, but now that it was here, it felt both surreal and overwhelming.

The doctor, noticing the emotional turmoil in the room, stepped in to provide reassurance. “It’s a beautiful thing, Sara. A new life is beginning. And you’re not alone in this. You have Priya and Raj by your side, and they will be there every step of the way.”

Priya squeezed Sara’s hand, her eyes filled with determination.

“We’re going to be parents, Sara. Together.” She paused, her mind racing. “But wait, that means ... I also need to take a test.” Her voice trailed off, a look of doubt crossing her face. “Could I be...?” She didn’t finish the sentence, but the thought hung heavily in the air.

Priya and Raj exchanged a glance, their eyes wide with realization. “You think you might be pregnant too?” Raj asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

Priya nodded, her hand still cupping Sara’s cheek. “I mean, we’ve been ... you know. And I’ve been feeling a bit off lately. Nauseous, tired ... it could be anything, but...”

The doctor stepped in, his voice calm and reassuring. “It’s possible, Priya. It’s important to get tested to confirm. But let’s not jump to conclusions. We need to focus on Sara right now.”

Sara’s eyes fluttered closed, her breath coming in soft, steady waves.

She was exhausted, her body drained from the shock and the emotional turmoil. Priya and Raj exchanged a glance, their hearts filled with a mix of relief and concern. The doctor, noticing the exchange, stepped in to reassure them.

“She’s going to be just fine,” he said, his voice gentle yet firm. “Her body is strong, and she’s young. She’ll need to rest, but she’ll recover. I’ll prescribe some medication to help her sleep and to manage any discomfort she might feel.”

Priya nodded, her eyes never leaving Sara’s face. “Thank you, Doctor. We appreciate everything you’ve done.”

The doctor smiled, his eyes softening. “It’s my job.

I’ll need to perform a pregnancy test on you, Priya, to confirm your suspicions,” the doctor said, his voice calm and professional. Priya nodded, her eyes flicking to Sara’s still form on the bed. She took a deep breath, steeling herself for the task ahead. “Of course, Doctor. Whatever you need.” The doctor turned to Raj, his expression serious. “Raj, I’ll need you to step out of the room for a moment. This is a private matter between Priya and me.” Raj hesitated, his eyes darting from the doctor to Priya. “But ... but what about Sara?” he asked, his voice filled with concern. The doctor placed a reassuring hand on Raj’s shoulder. “Sara is in good hands. She needs to rest, and Priya needs to take this test. It’s important that we get this done quickly and efficiently.” Raj nodded, his expression grave.

He leaned down and kissed Sara gently on the forehead, his voice filled with love and concern. “I’ll be right outside, Sara. Just call if you need anything.” Sara’s eyes fluttered open, her gaze meeting Raj’s. She managed a small smile, her hand reaching up to touch his cheek. “I love you, Raj,” she whispered, her voice barely audible. Raj’s eyes filled with tears as he leaned down and kissed her again, his heart swelling with love and determination. “I love you too, Sara. More than anything.” He turned to the doctor, his expression serious. “Please, take care of her. She’s everything to me.” “I understand, Raj. And I promise, we’ll do everything in our power to ensure both Sara and Priya are taken care of. Now, please, step out of the room so I can examine Priya.” Raj hesitated, his eyes flicking from the doctor to Priya. Raj nodded, his expression grave.

He cast one last look at Sara, her eyes already fluttering closed as exhaustion claimed her, before stepping out of the room. The doctor turned to Priya, his expression softening. “Alright, Priya. Let’s get this done quickly and efficiently. I’ll need you to lie down on the bed next to Sara, and I’ll perform the pregnancy test.” Priya nodded, her heart pounding in her chest. She climbed onto the bed, her eyes never leaving Sara’s face. The doctor opened his medical bag, pulling out a small, sterile package. He unwrapped it, revealing a thin, plastic stick. “This is a simple urine test, Priya.

I’ll need you to provide a sample, and then we’ll wait a few minutes for the results,” the doctor explained, his voice calm and reassuring. Priya nodded, her heart pounding in her chest as she took the test from the doctor. She slipped into the en-suite bathroom, her mind racing with a whirlwind of emotions.

As she sat on the toilet, her hands trembling as she held the test, she couldn’t help but think about the possibility of being pregnant. She and Sara had always been careful, using protection every time they were intimate. But they had also been reckless, caught up in the heat of the moment, and sometimes, things slipped through the cracks.

She thought about the times they had been too eager, too consumed by passion to remember the condom. She thought about the times they had been lazy, too tired or too drunk to care. She thought about the times they had been careless, too confident in their own invincibility to consider the consequences.

She finished the test, her hands shaking as she set it down on the counter. She washed her hands, her mind racing with a million thoughts and fears. She took a deep breath, steeling herself for the wait. The doctor had said it would take a few minutes for the results to show up. She leaned against the counter, her eyes fixed on the test as she waited.

The seconds ticked by like hours, each one stretching out into an eternity of uncertainty. She couldn’t help but think about the possibility of being pregnant, of carrying a life inside her. She thought about the changes it would bring, the responsibilities it would entail. She thought about the joy and the fear, the excitement and the apprehension.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the doctor knocked softly on the bathroom door. “Priya? Are you ready for the results?” His voice was calm and steady, a beacon of reassurance in the storm of emotions that raged within her.

She took a deep breath, steeling herself for whatever was to come. “Yes, Doctor.

I’m ready,” Priya replied, her voice steady despite the turmoil within her. She opened the door, her eyes meeting the doctor’s gaze. He held the pregnancy test in his hand, a small smile playing at the corners of his mouth.

“Well, Priya, it seems you’re in luck,” he said, his voice filled with warmth. “You’re pregnant.”

Priya’s eyes widened in shock, her hand flying to her mouth. She felt a wave of emotion crash over her, a mix of joy and fear and disbelief. She took a deep breath, trying to process the news.

“Pregnant?” Priya echoed, her voice barely above a whisper. The doctor nodded, his smile softening. “Yes, Priya. Congratulations. You’re going to be a mother.” Priya’s mind raced, her heart pounding in her chest. She thought about the life growing inside her, the tiny, fragile being that was now a part of her. She thought about the future, about the baby’s first steps, first words, and first day at school. She thought about the joy and the love, the laughter and the tears. She thought about the family she and Sara had always dreamed of, the family they were now going to create.

She thought about the challenges and the joys, the sleepless nights and the endless love. She thought about the future, about the life she was going to bring into the world.

The doctor’s words had been a shock, but also a revelation. She was pregnant. She was going to have a baby. With Sara.

She took a deep breath, her mind racing with a whirlwind of emotions. She looked at the doctor, her eyes filled with questions. She asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

The doctor smiled, his eyes filled with warmth and understanding. “Well, Priya, the first thing you need to do is take care of yourself.

You’re eating for two now, so make sure you’re getting enough nutrients. I’ll prescribe you some prenatal vitamins to help with that. And no more alcohol, I’m afraid. Your body needs to be in peak condition to support the baby’s growth.”

Priya nodded, her mind racing with all the changes she would have to make. “I understand, Doctor. I’ll make sure to take care of myself.”

“And, Priya, you need to tell Raj. He deserves to know, and he can be a great support to you during this time.”

Priya hesitated, her eyes flicking to the door where Raj was waiting. “I know. I just ... I don’t know how he’s going to react.

He’s been so confused about us, about Sara and me. I can’t imagine how he’ll feel when he finds out we’re both pregnant.”

The doctor nodded, his expression understanding. “It’s a lot to take in, Priya. But remember, Raj loves you both deeply. He’ll come around, and together, you can navigate this new journey.”

Priya took a deep breath, steeling herself for the conversation ahead. “You’re right. I just hope he understands.”

The doctor placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder. “He will. Now, let’s get you back to Sara.

She needs you, Priya. And Raj needs to know the truth. Let’s go and tell him together.”

Priya nodded, her heart pounding in her chest as she followed the doctor out of the bathroom. She took a deep breath, steeling herself for the conversation ahead. Raj was waiting outside the door, his eyes filled with concern and worry. He looked up as they approached, his gaze flicking from Priya to the doctor.

“Is she okay?” Raj asked, his voice filled with fear and uncertainty. The doctor nodded, his expression reassuring. “She’s going to be just fine, Raj. She’s young and strong, and her body is doing exactly what it’s supposed to do.

But we need to take care of her, and we need to take care of you both. Priya, you need to rest, and Raj, you need to be there for Sara. She’s going to need your support, now more than ever.”

Raj nodded, his eyes never leaving Priya’s face. I’ll do whatever it takes to help Sara. And Priya ... I’ll be here for her too. Whatever she needs.”

The doctor smiled, his eyes filled with warmth. “That’s the spirit, Raj.

Together, you both can navigate this new journey. Now, Priya, I need you to lie down and get some rest. Your body needs to conserve its energy for the baby’s growth. Raj, I’ll need you to help her get comfortable. And then, you both need to talk. There’s a lot to discuss, and it’s important that you’re on the same page.”

Raj nodded, his eyes filled with determination. He helped Priya onto the bed, tucking the blankets around her. She looked up at him, her eyes filled with a mix of fear and hope. “Raj, I’m scared,” she whispered, her voice trembling. “What if he doesn’t understand?

What if he thinks we’re crazy?” Priya’s voice was barely above a whisper, her eyes fixed on the ceiling as Raj sat down beside her on the bed.

Raj took her hand, his thumb gently brushing against her skin. “Priya, look at me,” he said, his voice soft and reassuring. She turned her head, her eyes meeting his gaze. “We’re in this together, okay? Whatever happens, we’ll face it together.”

Priya nodded, a small smile playing at the corners of her mouth. “Together,” she echoed, her voice filled with determination.

Raj squeezed her hand, his eyes filled with love and concern. “Now, let’s talk about this baby.

We need to make sure that you’re both taking care of yourselves and the baby,” the doctor said, his voice calm and reassuring. He turned to Priya, his eyes filled with warmth. “Priya, you need to make sure you’re eating well and getting plenty of rest. Your body is going through a lot of changes, and it needs all the support it can get.”

Priya nodded, her mind racing with all the things she needed to do. “I’ll make sure to eat well and rest,” she promised, her voice filled with determination.

The doctor then turned to Raj, his expression serious. “Raj, you need to be there for Priya and Sara.

They’re going to need your support, now more than ever,” the doctor continued, his voice filled with authority. “You need to make sure they’re eating well, getting plenty of rest, and taking care of their emotional well-being. Pregnancy can be a challenging time, and it’s important that they have someone they can rely on.” I’ll do whatever it takes to support them. But I need to know ... what happens next? What do we do now?”

The doctor took a deep breath, his eyes flicking between Priya and Raj. “Well, the first thing you need to do is to talk about it.

You need to discuss the implications of this pregnancy, the responsibilities that come with it, and the future you both want to build,” the doctor said, his voice steady and calm. “You need to decide if you’re going to raise this child together, or if you’re going to go your separate ways.” “Separate ways?” “But ... but we can’t do that. We’re in this together, aren’t we?” she looked at Raj, her eyes filled with fear and uncertainty. “Yes, we are. But we need to talk about it.

We need to figure out what this means for us, for our relationship, for our future,” Priya said, her voice filled with determination. She turned to Raj, her eyes filled with a mix of fear and hope. “Raj, what do you think about all this? About the baby, about us?”

Raj hesitated, his mind racing with a whirlwind of emotions. He looked at Priya, then at Sara, her eyes still closed as she slept. He thought about the life growing inside her, the life that would soon be a part of their world. He thought about the future, about the family they could have, about the love they could share.

He thought about the challenges they would face, about the sacrifices they would have to make. But most of all, he thought about the love, the love that had brought them together, the love that would see them through.

“I don’t know what to think, Priya,” he said finally, his voice filled with honesty. “This is all so sudden, so unexpected. But I know that I love you, and I love Sara. And I know that I want to be a part of this baby’s life, no matter what happens.”

Priya’s eyes filled with tears, her heart swelling with love and gratitude. “Really?” she whispered, her voice filled with hope.

Raj nodded, his heart swelling with love and determination. I want to be a part of this baby’s life. And I want to be a part of yours and Sara’s too. We’re in this together, no matter what happens.” Priya reached out, her hand cupping Raj’s cheek. “Thank you, Raj. Thank you for being here for us, for supporting us, for loving us.” Raj leaned into her touch, his eyes filled with love and devotion. “I’ll always be here for you, Priya. For both of you.” The doctor cleared his throat, drawing their attention back to him. “That’s wonderful to hear, Raj.

Now, I must be going. I have other patients to attend to,” the doctor said, his voice filled with warmth as he stood up from his chair. “I’ll leave you all to discuss and digest this news. Remember, rest is key for both Sara and Priya. I’ll be back to check on them tomorrow.” With that, he gathered his things and made his way out of Priya’s mansion, leaving the three of them alone with their thoughts and the weight of the news they had just received.

As the door closed behind the doctor, the room seemed to deflate, the tension that had been building slowly seeping out. Raj turned to Priya, his expression a mix of concern and determination. “Priya, we need to talk. Really talk.

About everything. About the baby, about us, about our future. We need to be honest with each other, no matter how difficult it might be,” Raj said, his voice steady and calm. Priya nodded, her eyes filled with determination. “You’re right, Raj. We need to talk about it all. But first, let’s make sure Sara is comfortable and resting. She needs us right now.” Raj nodded in agreement, and together, they turned their attention to Sara. She was still sleeping, her breaths coming in soft, steady waves. They tucked the blankets around her, making sure she was warm and comfortable. Priya adjusted the pillows behind her, supporting her head and neck gently.

She looked at Raj, her eyes filled with a mix of concern and determination. “She needs to rest, Raj. We can’t wake her up just yet. Let’s give her some time.”

Raj nodded, his gaze shifting to Sara’s sleeping form. He reached out, gently tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. “She looks so peaceful,” he whispered, his voice filled with a mix of awe and worry. “I can’t believe this is happening. I mean, I knew we were ... you know, but a baby? This is ... this is huge.”
