Gus and Astrid were getting up to leave when he waved them back down. “I only just arrived. I have to check in with Dr. Stanton and get a look at the charts. Unless you need to, there is no reason to leave. Please finish your game.” He glanced at the monitor. “I’ll be back after I see what needs to be seen and take it from there.”
Well, they didn’t finish. A few people came by to talk to Gus, and Selena fell asleep. That called it for Astrid. She put the game away and broke the table back down. Gus came back and just took it out to their car. Reluctantly, Jason asked if he could bring up his kit bag and the change of clothing from his car. Selena had the keys, which Gus found in her purse. If things went well, he wouldn’t need the kit. But he did need a change of clothes.
“I’m sorry,” Dr. McCann started looking at a chart as he came in the door, then quieted seeing the sleeping beauty. Astrid went to wake her, but he stopped her. “Let her sleep. It is going to take a bit more time. The CAT lab is behind schedule. As is the MRI lab. Dr. Stanton and I agree that we should wait and be sure. Our main concern is the bruising on the chest and the knot on the head. Everything else will heal up well enough without issues.”
“Hard headed,” Selena mumbled then settled back her arm around him as she laid on his shoulder more.
“She’s right in a way. You are lucky in that, at least for this instance. It could have been worse. There are only two ahead of us, so shouldn’t it be too long?
His idea of “long” and Jason’s was another story. Selena had wormed around enough to get under his arm, and his hand was placed on her hip. If he moved, she shifted as if uncomfortable. Astrid grinned as she read one of the magazines the nurse had left, and Gus was writing on a tablet he had got from the nurse station while using his phone. When the nurse finally came to get Jason, he was ready to throw something at the useless television. Good thing the remote was attached.
Astrid woke Selena and guided her to the bathroom. They were pushing Jason out the door when she came out a little more awake. Astrid had waited, but they were not that far behind. They went as far as they could.
“You should be home studying and doing homework,” Jason told Selena. She only had three weeks of school left. Four counting finals. And somewhere in there, she had present the case she picked for review.
“I’ll be fine,” she said and almost reached out to him but pulled back. “I need to be somewhere else more.” Jason saw the clock on the wall as they passed one of the larger rooms.
“Yeah, then I think you need to go help your father. He took a lot of work for a short period. He’s not going to get done on time if he does it alone. He’ll need all the help he can get. You know how he gets with these things better than I do.” She looked solemnly at him. “Hey, what’s that for? I’m not going anywhere. I will still be around to watch you grab that diploma.” He looked around at them all. “You heard the doctor. It’s just more tests. Nothing serious. You have a business to take care of. Just leave my keys with the nurse. If you are not back by the time they figure out they are just wasting time, I’ll join you at the diner.”
Gus finally noticed the time and agreed fast, though he kept going with them. He had to get several pans ready, and that would take time to make, pack, and move.
“Seriously. Go take care of business. I will not be the cause of you having business issues,” he took a breath, thinking about the incident. “At least ones I can prevent. Besides, I don’t think you can go in with me, and there are no waiting chairs. You can’t stand around here all that time.” He stopped the nurse as they got on the lab floor. Looking at Gus, he took a breath. “It would make me more comfortable. You need the time you need her help. This could help defray the loss of revenue from the shutdown. You can’t tell me that you don’t need the job. So please go. It will be a hard task even with all of you.”
Gus knew he was right and looked at his phone. They were running low on time. He didn’t say a word but took a pretesting Selena by the hand and Astrid’s in the other. Selena glared at Jason, and he was somewhat glad she was not staying. She was super pissed. It didn’t make sense, but she was young. She’d get over it. It made him wonder if it was perhaps time to decrease his time around them.
The nurse waited until they were on the elevator and the door closed before he pushed Jason’s chair down the hall and to the MRI lab. He had said nothing but they have had people in the room with patients. It seemed to calm them if they were in the machine for a while.
When they got inside, they were accosted by the technician and a doctor cussing. The machine had not calibrated correctly, and they had to do the tests over. Jason groaned. That was reassuring. The nurse patted him on the shoulder and pulled him back to the hall. He would find the Lieutenant and let him know of the delay. He was slightly relieved that Gus had taken his family and had left.
It was barely twenty minutes and he was about to head back to the room on his own. It was part the wait with nothing to do, but he wanted his wallet. Coffee was calling and the money he had wouldn’t work in the vending machines. Dr. McCann found him near the elevator.
“Sorry, Major, from what I was told, the lab will be busy for another couple of hours.”
He offered to buy. Jason didn’t refuse and just turned back toward the floor vending machines.
“We got time, why not go to the cafeteria,” the Lieutenant took control and steered the chair back to the elevator as it opened.
“Probably will taste the same either way,” Jason shrugged. He hadn’t thought of the cafeteria.
Laughing, the Lieutenant replied, “Yeah, but the cups will be bigger.”
“Ah, a fellow coffee fiend?”
“More a tea guy myself, but about the same. Though I didn’t drop an entire company of recruits because a private on KP spilled the coffee urn.”
“No idea what you mean,” Jason coughed into his shoulder to hide the smirk.
“I was told it was like ten minutes of nonstop pushups.”
“Nonsense. That would be harsh. It was twenty, and they did jumping jacks and sit-ups as well. It only lasted long enough for the mess to send more. The sergeants were going to do it anyway. I just got a jump on it. The funny thing is that the KP recruits took special care from that point forward. I always seemed to get the first cup when I was out with them from that point on.”
“I can’t imagine why,” the doctor chuckled as they entered the cafeteria. They were the only ones there besides the cafeteria staff. They were fortunate; the coffee was fresh, and they had large thirty-ounce cups. They talked about their careers mostly. The Lieutenant was very similar to Jason. Having joined at a young age, started as a private and worked up. He had trained as a medic, and that got him into medicine. He went to school on the government’s dime and didn’t regret anything he did, career-wise, at least. Time moved since they were talking. The Doc bought another cup for both of them, and they started back. When they got to the upper floor, they walked out of the elevator and started back toward the ER, still talking. What they walked into was pure chaos.
There were patients everywhere. “See if you can help,” Jason gave the Lieutenant a push. When he didn’t move and just looked at Jason. Jason shoved him. “Go, I am fine. More so compared to those people. They need you more than I do.” That got him moving, and tossing the cup in his hand to the nearest receptacle, he found an ER staff to offer his help. He didn’t question since he had his uniform on and ID badge. He just it just pointed and had him go to work. Being in the way, Jason decided this was going to delay his tests more. He went back to his room. He detoured to the gift shop when he saw it. He picked up a few things. He pulled one of the bills he had to pay. He realized the issue when she gave him change and the receipt. He just stuffed everything back into the top of his sock, even the coins. He could have gotten more coffee since they had that, too. He didn’t, believing there was still some in a thermos left in the room.
“That took longer than expected,” Astrid said as he rolled in.
Jason jerked up his mind a million miles away. “Thought you left,” he said almost bitterly.
“Nice to see you, Astrid. Thanks for staying,” she shot back.
“Astrid, you know that is not what I meant. I’m always glad to see a friendly face. But you should be with your husband and daughter. From the looks downstairs, it may take them longer to conduct these retests.”
“As much as I like to say I was here just for you, I stayed to also talk to that pretty doctor of yours. She’s got some drive in her. Too bad they called her away before things got intense. I suppose a structure falling and killing thirty and injuring over a hundred does take priority.”
Jason barely heard what she said as he turned on the news. The structure was a four-story building within the business market. He watched all the footage intently. “They are going to be calling more people in. Why don’t you see if Gus and Selena can increase what they are bringing? I don’t see any of them having time to break for long.”
“I already did,” she waved her phone. “They are putting together some platters and salads along with everything else.” She got up and patted his face, handing him the model kit. “Family Jason. We take care of the family when we can. Play with your model. I’ll see if the nurses here can put on more coffee or point me to where I can.”
Family? What was she going on about? Sometimes, that woman was as much a mystery as her daughter. He tried to shake the images of her from his mind as he looked at the model. It was of a Chinook helicopter. It was a high skill level to complete and would be over a foot long and half as wide. That wasn’t the challenge, though. The challenge was seeing what else he could do with it.
He was halfway through when Dr. Stanton came in. She looked bushed. Astrid had gone out to stretch her legs and get some air.
“Things are calming a bit downstairs. Hope you don’t mind me stopping here a minute to catch my breath,” she said, crashing into the chair Astrid had vacated. She was a bit disheveled as she leaned back.
Jason looked up from what he was doing. His eyes locked on her chest. The good doctor was having a wardrobe malfunction.
When she uncovered her eyes, she saw him staring and looked down. “Well, at least now I know you notice things. I was beginning to wonder.” She looked at the door just as she got up and reached for the opening of the gown he wore. “Mmm yeah, notice and like what you see.” She glanced at the door with a look on her face that had him puzzled.
When she went to put a sign on the door, “Examine in Progress, Do Not Disturb.” He started to ask what she was doing when she walked back. He didn’t get the opportunity.
She went to her knees in front of him. “Not much time, but this should be a good pick me up. I wish it still had some of that sweet thing on it, but we can try that another time.” Without a single hesitation, she swallowed his cock. Shook her head and pressed her lips tight. Her head was bouncing as she rolled his balls in her palm. She had a soft touch, and her mouth was working wonders.
She was stunning as she worked around the shaft, then back up to lick the tip and then the shaft before moving down to suck on the ball sack. All she did was get them wet before getting them back in her palm and rolling them around. Her mouth was at the tip of his cock, teasing it with the tip of her tongue and small kisses. She pulled out any drops of precum as they oozed out. She knew what to do, either as a professional or from practice. She even knew when he was ready to pop and had it stopped.
Just as she lifted up and moved in to straddle his legs, she slipped him into her hot and very wet pussy. “Oh, yeah, that is so nice. Haven’t felt that in a while.” She reminded him of Cleo, though she was not as small or tight. She was using her body’s muscles to work his shaft. She rolled her hips and thrusted down, taking him in deep. She clenched as she peaked, wetting his shaft more for a smoother glide into her body. She kissed him on the next one, and finally, as the third, although smaller one, she looked into his eyes and twisted, making him spurt.
She was catching her breath when the alarm on her phone went off. “Oh yeah, that was perfect.” She got up and kissed him hard before retreating to the bathroom. When she came out, she looked more prim and proper. Not perfectly so, but more doctor-like. She spritzed some perfume into the room to try to cover the smell, but it just added to it. “Sorry,” she said as she hurried out, remembering the sign at the last minute. Astrid came in a minute later, and he still had his cock out.
She tsked and shook a finger. Before he could put it away, she was by the bed and rubbing a finger over the shaft. “Naughty of her to leave it like this. Guess I will have to finish.” She licked her finger and then got down to lick his shaft clean. Jason was shocked, but his cock was harder than before.
