It was raining again and I was wearing my coziest hoodie: the one with little bear ears. It was my favorite because Sir always called me cub when I wore it. It was, in fact, the only article of my clothing I wasn’t fully intent on letting Lily steal. She and I were in the dining room playing chess. She had already beaten me twice, but I thought the third time might really be the charm for me. Sir was in his adjacent study reading, but I think he was mostly watching us through the ajar door, sneaking occasional glances over the top of his glasses. Avett was in the living room writing lines.
“Check,” Lily announced, plopping her knight onto the board with the same smug smile I’d seen plenty of over the past half hour. She had mentally bounced back far more quickly than the first time she came. Or maybe all the orgasms actually aided her chess skill.
After studying the board for a minute with my chin in my palms, I begrudgingly moved my king forward one space.
Lily immediately moved her knight again. “Ha!” She had successfully forked my rook and queen. Fuck.
I ran my hands through my hair, leaning closer to the board as if seeing the pieces better would somehow magically improve my own skill. I lifted a hand, then hesitated. “Wait a second...”
She grinned at me, wiggling her light blonde eyebrows. It was mate in two. “Good game,” I said, sitting back in my chair, thoroughly defeated.
“Thank you!”
“You’re really good at chess,” I sighed.
“I know,” she said, and threw her head back to release an untamed cackle.
“I love it when you laugh like that.”
“Like how? Not a giggle, you mean?” She giggled.
“Giggles are cute, too.”
Blushing, she absentmindedly began to reset her pieces. “You’re good at chess, too.”
“You’re sweet. if you really want a challenge, you should play Sir.”
She perked up at that idea, and called into the study, “Hey, Sir! Wanna play me in chess?”
His finger traced the spine of his book. “Not now, kitten.” He seemed to prefer watching us.
“He just doesn’t want to crush your spirit,” I said.
She pouted. It might not have been a real pout, but still, I instantly regretted what I had said. I never wanted to see anything other than a smile on her lips.
Sir went back to reading. “That pout is adorable, sweets, but you won’t change my mind. Perhaps another time.”
“Maybe he’s scared, ” I whispered as low as I could. THAT made her smile, but made him shoot me a look. Ugh, I just couldn’t win.
“Why don’t you two check on Avett?” He said.
“Okay!” Lily hopped to her feet and flounced toward the living room with me trailing behind. She was still naked under my old shirt, which had material so thin it clung to her every curve. Unshowered, the salty floral smell Avett had elicited from her in the kitchen still lingered behind her. It was torture. I just about could have cum several times in that kitchen, but some people had at least a little self-control, unlike Avett, who apparently had none. I had never seen him orgasm hands-free like that before. Neither had Sir. That could have been why he went so easy on him, when his rule break usually would’ve warranted something far worse. Partially for Lily’s sake, but partially because Sir was at least a little impressed.
“How’s it going, Avett?” Lily asked, digging her toe into the carpet, suddenly shy.
Avett was sitting facing the corner, hunched over his papers spread out on the floor. His pen traversed the page in uneven scribbles and flourishes as he rushed to complete his one hundred assigned lines. “Splendid, doll,” he said without looking up, and shoved a full page away to begin another.
“Do you always have to sit in the corner to do that?” She asked, sounding nervous.
I stood at her side. “No, he could be sitting at the table. He just likes to stew in the corner so people feel sorry for him.”
“Oh.” She cackled. “Well, it’s not working! I don’t feel sorry for him at all!”
“I hate you,” Avett said. His tone suggested otherwise.
She gave his shoulder a light kick with her bare foot, which he ignored. I suddenly wished I was in his place.
Realizing Avett was too focused to quarrel with her further, Lily instead turned her attention to one of his discarded pages. She knelt to pick it up, and I read over her shoulder.
I WILL NOT ORGASM WITHOUT SIRS PERMISSION
I WILL NOT ORGASM WITHOUT SIRS PERMISSION
I WILL NOT ORGASM WITHOUT SIRS PERMISSION
This continued with increasingly hasty scribbles until his writing was nearly illegible at the bottom of the page.
“I will not orgasm without Sir’s permission,” she absentmindedly read aloud.
Avett said, “I tried to convince him to let me write “cum” instead to make it easier, but he said no.”
“Wait, hold on a second! What does this line say?” She showed me the paper.
SIRS JEALOUS HE CANT CUM ON COMMAND
“Lower your voice,” Avett hissed, glancing to the door. “It’s not like he’s going to read all of this.”
Lily let the paper flutter to the floor. “Are you saying you did that on purpose?”
I chuckled. “Definitely not. That was all you, Lil. You made him lose control.” She blushed. I did, too, at my own words.
Avett clicked his pen twice. “I don’t like your tone, Adrian. I think Lily is a bad influence on you.”
I swallowed hard. Avett could sound as scary as Sir when he wanted to. Lily looked at me. “Aw, don’t worry,” she said, tugging on my sleeve. “Clearly, I’m an equally bad influence on both of you.”
Smiling, I let her nuzzle into me in a gigantic hug. She tugged my hood over my head and fiddled with the ears. “You look so cute,” she cooed. “I think I’ll let you keep this one.”
“How generous,” Avett deadpanned. He stood up and stretched, cracking both sides of his neck. “I’m done.”
“Oh, yeah?” Lily shrieked with laughter. “Did you FINISH?”
Avett just narrowed his eyes. He didn’t seem to get the joke.
Lily quieted mid-laugh when Sir appeared in the doorway. “We’re ordering pizza for dinner,” he announced. Shit, he was really serious about the carbs. We hardly ever got to eat pizza. With one hand on his hip and the other still holding his book, Sir looked to the scattered papers, blinking.
In a flash, Avett scooped up the pages, tapping them into a neat pile before presenting them to Sir with an exaggerated bow. “My lines are complete, Sir.”
“Uh-huh.” Sir took the papers but didn’t look at them. “And what did we learn?”
Avett thought about that. He was clearly gauging how much of a smartass he could be and still get away with it. Finally, he said, “We learned that we don’t cum in our pants, no matter how good Lily’s pussy tastes.”
With an embarrassed groan, Lily burrowed her face in my chest. Sir just took off his glasses and rubbed his temple. “Don’t let it happen again,” he said, too worn out to push the issue further. For what it was worth, Avett was fucking good at reading Sir.
“What should we do until dinner?” Avett asked, looking around the room. When no one answered, he said, “Swimming in the rain?”
“No,” Sir interjected. “One of you will catch a cold. Or get struck by lightning.”
“There’s no lightening,” Avett argued. Just then, the living room erupted in a flash of white light. I tensed. Silence followed, for just a few seconds, until an enormous clap of thunder echoed in the distance. Sir smirked. “Okay, so there’s lightening,” Avett said, holding up his hands in surrender.
Lily looked up at me with her wide eyes sparkling between blonde lashes. “I LOVE thunderstorms,” she purred with unhinged enthusiasm.
“Okay, weirdo,” I chuckled. I personally didn’t exactly love being jump scared by lightning bolts every few minutes, but to each their own.
“What would you like to do, Lily?” Sir asked. “You’re the guest of honor.”
Lily’s face twitched with conflicting emotions. She didn’t want to still be a “guest,” but she liked the “honor” part. I clasped my arms around her back, holding her snug. She wouldn’t be just a “guest” for long if Avett and I had anything to say about it. Finally, Lily perked up with an idea. “Can we play hide and seek?”
Avett smacked his fist into his open palm. “Lily, you’re a genius, darling!”
“Why haven’t we thought of that?” I asked him. “This house is perfect for it!” Avett and I loved hide and seek. We used to play it all the time, until we were far older than we liked to admit. We called it “manhunt” once we were teens so it would feel less juvenile, but because there were only two of us, it was the same concept. Except it was usually in abandoned buildings, which freaked me out a bit. But this old house, with its abundance of rooms, corners, and closets, was perfect. “You are a genius,” I told Lily, and in my excitement lifted her to spin her around. It was like lifting a leaf in the wind. A very warm, good-smelling, attractive leaf.
She giggled. “If your hide and seek skills are anything like your chess skills, you’re going down.”
“Down like how?” Avett asked, gesturing as he continued, “Like how I went down on you?”
“Enough, Avett,” Sir said. “We get it.” Another flash bathed the walls in white as I set Lily back down on her feet. I braced myself for the ensuing rumble.
Avett sat on the very edge of an armchair with immaculate posture like he was holding court. “We need to agree on the rules. Judging by the house size, I propose a count of one hundred seconds before seeking.”
“And the basement is off-limits,” I cut in. “Top three floors only.”
Avett looked at me incredulously. “Only the outside is off-limits,” he countered. “Anything inside the house is free game.”
“There’s a basement?” Lily asked. “You didn’t show me during my tour!”
“Because there’s nothing down there,” I said.
“Only terrifying ghosts and monsters that prey on little brunette boys,” Avett teased. He knew the basement creeped me out.
Sir was stroking his chin. “The basement is free game,” he concluded. I frowned. Why the hell was he taking Avett’s side? The dude had been a menace all fucking day. That must’ve been one hell of a blowjob.
Avett said, “Whoever gets found has to help the seeker find the others.”
“No,” Sir said. “There is no assisting the seeker after you’ve been found.”
“Why?”
“Because there can only be one winner. Either the seeker, having found everyone themself, or the last person yet to be found after, say ... One hour.”
Lily gave me a look, like, they’re taking this very seriously. I shot one back to convey, I know.
“And what does the winner get?” Lily asked. By this point she fully understood that, when it came to playing games, Sir did not fuck around. We all looked at him.
He sat down on the sofa and cracked open his book. “I haven’t decided yet.”
I could practically feel the dissatisfaction in the room. “You haven’t decided yet?” Avett repeated.
Sir looked at him over his glasses. “It will be very desirable. I can tell you that much.”
“Are you playing, at least?” Avett asked, glancing at his already settled-in position on the couch.
“I will supervise.”
There were no supervisors in hide and seek, but we didn’t argue, especially with the prospect of a “very desirable” prize hanging over our heads.
“I’m thinking of a number between one and one hundred,” Sir said. “Whoever guesses the closest without going over will be the seeker.”
“Sixty-nine,” Avett said.
Lily rolled her eyes. “I guess ... Twenty-one.”
Sir looked at me. I did some quick math in my head. “Forty-five.”
“The number was seventy. Avett is the seeker.”
“YES!” Avett shouted, punching the air. “I’m on a roll today.”
Fuck. Sir obviously knew Avett would pick sixty-nine. One hell of a blowjob, for sure.
Avett threw his hands over his eyes and, without warning, began loudly counting, “One ... two ... three...”
Suddenly overcome with our individual competitiveness, Lily and I let go of one another and took off in opposite directions. She looked like she was on a mission to find the elusive basement. I headed upstairs, stepping as lightly as possible so as not to let the creaky steps give me away. I already knew exactly where to hide.
I entered the master bedroom and slipped into Sir’s walk-in closet, gently shutting the door behind me. Inside the closet it was dark, quiet, and smelled heavily of the cedar-paneled walls. One side of the closet had an odd corner that wouldn’t be visible should Avett simply glance inside. I moved aside some of Sir’s long winter coats to nestle myself in the corner, near his collection of hanging belts. Sitting on the carpeted floor, I tugged my knees to my chest, confident that I wouldn’t be found anytime soon. I briefly felt like a kid again, crouching in a dark closet during a storm to muffle the sounds of faraway thunder.
I heard Avett’s voice from below as he shouted at the top of his lungs, “READY OR NOT, HERE I COME!”
I thought, again? Smiling to myself, I wished Lily was here to crack more orgasm jokes at Avett’s expense.
The door creaked open, casting a beam of dim light across the closet floor. What the hell? There was no way Avett made it up here that quickly.
“Adrian?” A small voice said.
“Lily?” I whispered back.
She quickly shut the door before her small pale feet pattered towards me, dimly visible beneath the hem of a black wool peacoat. I moved the fabric aside, revealing myself.
“It smells like you in here,” she said. I couldn’t make out the details of her face, but I felt her lower herself beside me, replacing the coat to conceal us both. Silhouetted strands of her hair floated lazily in the air from static electricity.
“What are you doing in here? I thought you were going to the basement.”
“That was the idea,” she said, a smile evident in her voice. “I tried to trick Avett by making a big show of shutting the basement door, but then I came up here super quietly instead.”
“Nice strategy,” I whispered. “But this might not be the best spot. You saw me right away.”
“We’ll see about that. Maybe Avett isn’t as observant as I am.”
“Maybe,” I agreed, smiling.
There was silence for a minute. Lily shifted closer, until her shoulder made contact with my arm. She gently rested her head against me. “I love games,” she sighed.
“Me too.”
“What’s your favorite?”
I tried to think of something flirty to say. The one where you got naked? “Um ... Pokémon,” I admitted.
Her shoulder shook with a small giggle. “Really? What’s your favorite Pokémon?”
“Mimikyu, probably.”’
“Why?” Her knee touched mine.
“Because it has a cute disguise but is actually super scary underneath.”
Another soft giggle. “Like you?”
“No,” I shook my head. “More like you.”
“I’m not scary,” she laughed.
“You’re terrifying.”
Before I knew it, we were kissing. Lily’s lips, already so familiar, were as silky soft as rose petals and slipped perfectly into the space between my own. She grabbed the ears on my hood to pull me into her. I lifted my hands and brought them to rest on either side of her dainty jaw, my fingertips digging slightly into her pliant, flushed cheeks. I deepened the kiss. My tongue grazed her swollen lower lip, seeking entry. She parted her lips, accepting my tongue into her mouth where she timidly stroked it with her own. I retreated and caught her lip gently between my teeth, giving it a tug. She released a low growl from the back of her throat. Fuuuck.
I let go of her face and gripped her hips instead as I pulled her onto my lap, straddling me. She wrapped her arms around my neck and kissed me harder still. Our tongues collided until she tugged at my lip ring with her own teeth. Her hips were grinding ever-so-slightly into my lap. Breathless, I felt her heart pounding into my chest. I ran my hands down the outsides of her thighs, savoring their pillowy softness. My fingertips dug into her tender skin. Fuck, I wanted her so bad.
“Ah,” I grunted, pulling back. My eyes had adjusted enough to the dark to make out her face, a few inches from mine. Her expression was solemn. Hungry.
“You’re a bad influence,” I said, catching my breath.
She smirked. “See, you guys keep saying that, but you’re the ones that made me this way.”
