Chapter 12

Corey rolled out of bed and stretched his arms over his head. He had a good night’s sleep after another fun date with Tina, and the two nearly wore each other out before he took her home. He puttered around his room, looking for something to wear, opening drawers and his closet to find the right outfit. He found the half-empty box of condoms in his shorts drawer. This was a new hiding place in case Addie went looking for them. He picked a pair of khakis, tossed on a black T-shirt, and knew he looked presentable enough to get food.

He reached down and unwedged the door before heading into the hall. He didn’t really need to do that anymore. Addie had stopped trying to get in after a week of failed attempts, but he still preferred to be safe. He passed her room and barely glanced in as he walked to the stairs. His anger had been dulled over the past two weeks, but he still couldn’t forgive her for what she’d tried to do. He was lucky she hadn’t succeeded, and he and Tina were firmly together again.

Upon entering the kitchen, he poured some cereal and checked his phone while he ate. There were several messages from friends, including one from Tina, in which she said good morning and that she had a great time last night. This made Corey smile as he recalled their fun and wild time at mini golf and afterward at the quarry. The two made love several times until it was dark. He now made sure to bring a bag to put the used condoms in, not wanting anything to leak out onto the car seats.

Corey had started to get used to using condoms with Tina. It wasn’t as much fun as going raw and cumming inside of someone like he used to do with his sister, but it was what Tina wanted. Corey thought for a second, ensuring he got the words right so some unneeded information didn’t slip in.

“Mom, remember when you walked in on Tina and me a few weeks ago? That was Addie’s doing. She set the whole thing up to break Tina and me up. She lied to Tina about helping her with me and then lied about how long you and Dad would be gone.”

He looked at his mom, and she just nodded in understanding. He knew there was no way to hide the fact that he was sexually active, not after what she’d walked in on, but he didn’t give her all the details.

“So, your sister set Tina up to be embarrassed, her own best friend? That explains why they aren’t talking either,” his mom said as she put some of the pieces together.

“Exactly. Tina trusted her to help make things special. Instead, she manipulated both of us to destroy our relationship for some reason,” Corey replied, trying to leave some details understood but unspoken until his mom asked...

“And you and Tina now...”

“We’re good now, but she’s uncomfortable doing ... whatever you think we were doing when you opened the door that day.”

“Gotcha. I understand why you’re upset, but you should forgive her soon. No matter what, she’s your sister, and I think she’s paid for her crime. She lost your trust and may have lost her best friend, too. If I can’t get Tina to talk to her, you might be able to. Try to be the bigger brother, understand?”

Corey nodded. He knew she was right. In truth, he hadn’t really thought about how she might have felt since Tina stopped talking to her. He knew she was angry as well. They had talked about it occasionally, though they usually tried to have more enjoyable conversations. Tina needed more time to overcome the sheer humiliation she felt Addie had caused her that day. The few times he saw Addie outside of family meals, she just sat alone in her room reading or on her computer.

“Ok, I’m glad,” his mom continued, seeing that he’d absorbed what she said. “Your father and I are going out tonight to visit your aunt. I want you and your sister to behave and mend some fences, ok?”

“Yes, mom.”

Corey took a shower and let the water and his mother’s words wash over him. How long could he punish his sister for what she did? She had tried to apologize the morning after, but he wasn’t in the mood to hear it, too focused on trying to win Tina back. Now that the dust had settled and his relationship fixed, what should he do with Addie?

As he washed his hair, he thought about all the fun he’d had with his sister since they started having sex together. It wasn’t just the sex, which he did miss, but they had grown closer as siblings. Sitting around playing video games together, laughing, and quietly chatting at night after she’d snuck into his room was nice. Those were things that likely all came about because of their first minor indiscretion caused by a naive bet.

On the other hand, how long could they continue doing what they had been doing? There were lots of risks associated with their incestuous relations, and they’d almost been caught a few times. He also couldn’t get the thought out of his mind that he had been cheating on Tina with Addie. Yes, she was his sister, and there was no chance of a romantic relationship there, but it was physical, the most direct form of cheating.

The water washed the soap from his hair and skin but couldn’t wash away all his thoughts. As he thought about what he and his sister had done, he couldn’t help but get aroused. He figured it would be better so they could have an open conversation about everything without worrying about anyone overhearing. This seemed like the best option. Whether they returned to their lustful ways or just were normal siblings would be up in the air, though. He brushed his teeth, combed his hair, and got dressed again, a little happier that he had devised a plan.

Corey sat in his room, watching videos on his computer when his parents stopped by to say they were heading out. They told him they had left some money on the counter for food and to try to behave. His mom looked at him, gestured with her hand, and then pointed toward Addie’s room. He understood what she meant and nodded an acknowledgment; she smiled and mouthed, “Thank you.”

They walked away, and he overheard them have a similar conversation with Addie down the hall. He didn’t hear a response, but he figured he’d find out soon enough. Soon after, the front door closed, the engine turned on, and then slowly faded into the background. He looked out the window, there was just one car left. They were alone together.

He fidgeted and paced around his room for a few minutes, unsure of what he wanted to say. He’d spent so much time thinking and deciding on a course of action that he hadn’t considered his next step. He was almost as nervous as he was on his first date with Tina, but this was his sister. They were family, and he didn’t want things to go further downhill.

Gathering his courage, he stood up and headed to his sister’s room. Her door was partially closed, and he peeked in the crack. She just sat at her computer, watching some lame video, her face sullen and sad. He took a deep breath and knocked.

“Yes?” her voice sounded confused.

Corey stuck his head in, “Hey, sis, can we talk?”

“Uh ... sure, yeah. If you want,” she replied.

Corey walked in, and the first thing he noticed was that her room was once again a mess. Shirts, pants, and underwear were strewn all over the floor. A couple of dirty glasses and plates were on her desk, and some used tissues were left around the bed and floor. He cleared off a place to sit on her bed and sat down. Neither one of them knew how to start. They just looked at each other and said nothing. Addie fidgeted with her hair, twirling it around on her fingers, while Corey just opened and closed his hands against his knees.

“How’s Tina? It seems like you two patched things up,” Addie said, the first to break the silence.

“She’s good. We went out to Mikey’s Putt Putt yesterday. It was fun. How have you been?”

“Oh, you know. Not much to do of late, and I lost my best friend and my brother, so ... yeah.”

This brought a new round of silence between them. Corey wondered if maybe things weren’t repairable, and they’d drift apart like some siblings do as they grow up. The thought of that actually made him sad. He and his sister always had their weird little relationship, even before all the sex happened. He missed that.

“Addie, I...” Corey started, but Addie jumped in. “I’m so sorry for what I did. I miss hanging out with you, and I miss my best friend. Please, don’t hate me forever.” Addie’s eyes welled up, and tears rolled down her face.

“I don’t hate you, I just ... Why did you do it? Why lie to Tina and say you’d help her that day and then sabotage the whole thing?”

Addie sobbed, “I was jealous. I didn’t want to lose you to her, and I didn’t want to lose her to you. It felt like I was being left out of everything, and I didn’t want that. It was a dumb, childish decision, I know that. I didn’t expect Mom to burst into the room like she did and humiliate Tina like that. I thought you would have heard the car pull in and stop, but you two started arguing first.”

“Yeah, she found the panties you planted first, which set everything off. It was tough to explain why I had a pair of my sister’s panties in my bed without revealing what we’d been doing.”

“I just panicked and hid them and didn’t really think about that. I’m so sorry. Please forgive me, Corey.”

“Well, now I have a bit of an understanding of why you did it. I am sorry, too, if you thought you were being excluded from both mine and Tina’s lives. Sometimes, that can happen when people are in relationships. It’ll happen to you, too, when you get a boyfriend.”

Addie wiped her eyes with more tissue but still looked sad. Corey got up and put his hand on his little sister’s shoulder for comfort. She rubbed her cheek on his arm, which did make her feel better, but something still gnawed at her.

“Have you and Tina...” she trailed off.

Corey didn’t want to tell his sister the whole truth about what he and Tina had been doing. Addie had done a terrific job losing his trust in her a few weeks ago, so they needed time to rebuild that. She needed to prove herself again to be a reliable friend to both him and Tina. She also needed to apologize to Tina, but that was between them. He knew enough to stay out of girl politics.

He shook his head, “No, it seemed best to slow things down for a while. Tina was pretty upset by the whole thing, and I can’t really blame her. For now, though, it’s off the table.”

“I’m sorry, Corey, I really am.” Addie lowered her head and looked at the ground. She felt awful that she’d ruined what was supposed to be her best friend’s first time. She hadn’t thought about how she would have felt if the roles had been reversed. Addie knew she was lucky to have had such a good experience with Corey for her first time.

Corey started to walk towards the door, happy they at least had a conversation about it. He didn’t want to push things; instead, he just let things sit with his sister for a while. It was the mature thing to do, which hopefully was the right thing.

“Corey, I’ll try to apologize to Tina later. Is there anything I can do to make things up with you?” Addie asked, standing up from her desk and walking towards him.

“Honestly, if you’re asking what I think you’re asking, I don’t think it’s a good idea.”

“Please, Corey,” she begged. “I’ll do anything to make it up to you. You can do anything you want to me; just don’t shut me out anymore. Please!”

Tears streamed down her face again, breaking Corey’s heart. He never liked seeing his girls cry, especially his sister. He looked around her room for something to give him an idea of what to do, and then it hit him.

“Ok, you’ll do anything I want, right?” he asked, raising an eyebrow questioningly.

“Yes, anything. Just tell me and I’ll do it.”

“Alright, well first, I think you need to change,” he said with a smile.

Corey sat in his room, waiting. In his mind, he thought about everything he could do with the time he had available. A smile crept across his lips when he heard the door open and footsteps walking down the hall. His sister’s head popped around the corner, and she jumped fully into view. She wore a familiar flowery summer dress, one Corey knew all too well.
