I got home and went straight to my room.
I lay on my bed, still covered in my fluids, then grabbed my pillow and screamed into it.
April knows everything.
Why? Why did it turn out like this?
I thought we got past what happened fucking years ago.
I apologized when I was 16. Did she really hold a grudge this whole time?
I loosened my hands on my pillow, but did not remove my face from it.
I was crying.
April was so cruel, and Jacob ... Why does he do this? What happened to make me deserve this?
I lay my back down on my bed.
Didn’t I help you in the past, Jacob?
Why did you become like this...
And April ... we’ve known each other for 10 years.
No, that’s not fully true, I thought to myself.
After the breakup, she did not come back to school for almost two years.
What I did was cruel, but not on the same level as this.
Or at least, I don’t think so.
I got up and walked to my bathroom.
I need a shower, I’m covered in cum.
I turned on the shower, then got in.
As I was in the shower, I thought back 10 years ago.
I was already pretty popular at the time, and was part of a soccer team.
It was the first time I played soccer on an actual team.
And I was really gifted, or at least that’s what everyone told me.
Just like college, girls would walk up to me, and hit on me.
It got kind of annoying.
I knew I looked good, was skilled at sports, and was a grade-A student.
So it made sense that I would be surrounded by girls.
However, it became too annoying.
I could not go anywhere without a girl talking to me and interrupting what I was doing.
Whether I was getting stuff out of my locker, rushing to class, or trying to go home.
There was always someone coming up to me and delaying me.
I had a crush on Destiny at that point.
But she was not in my class, so I only saw her during lunch or between classes.
Also, she was almost always surrounded by her female friends, so I could never find a time to talk to her.
She was my first crush and, years later, would eventually become my girlfriend.
One day, when I was leaving class, a girl came up to me.
She was nervous and fidgety and kept tripping over her words.
Her name was April.
But she was not the beautiful girl I know now.
Back then, she had messy hair and lots of acne.
“H-hi, Troy,” she said.
I remembered her. She was one of the girls always hanging around Destiny.
“Hey there,” I said. “What’s up?”
She seemed like she wasn’t expecting a response.
But then her face lit up.
“N-nothing much ummm.”
She looked down and continued talking.
“I-I really like you,” she said.
“Really?” I asked.
But I wasn’t really as surprised as I sounded.
“Y-yes ... I can’t stop watching you. You’re so cool and calm,” she trailed off a bit.
“And, um...” She stopped for a second.
Then she said, “W-will you please ... go on a date with me?”
I stared at her for a minute. She was still looking down.
I thought to myself.
A very cruel thought, but back then I thought it was smart.
If I got close to her, maybe I would have more chances to talk to Destiny.
And it would hopefully ward off the mass of girls who bothered me all the time.
“Ya, sure,” I said.
She looked up in surprise.
“Really?” she said. “Even though I’m me?”
I decided not to answer that. I did not really want to get pulled into the emotional life I figured she had.
“Ya, you seem nice,” I said, smiling. “Let’s have fun later, if you’re available after school.”
She lit up with a huge smile and said, “Yes, thank you.”
Then the bell rang. It was time for the next class.
We said our goodbyes and went to our next class.
We were in separate classes, so I did not see her much.
After school, we met up.
I brought her to a cafe.
Not the one I go to now, just a random cafe I saw while we walked.
We ordered some drinks and a few donuts, and she started talking.
She talked a lot. She was basically giving me a whole life’s worth of stories.
Not the coolest thing I wanted to have to listen to on a first date.
“Can you believe it?” she said happily. “I managed to get into the same school as my friends.”
I was just smiling while sipping my tea but finally decided to start talking.
“I’ve noticed you in the hallways on my way to classes. I’ve seen that you have lots of friends.”
She looked surprised.
“I’m surprised you even noticed me.” She looked down and then said, “People don’t usually even look at me.”
This conversation was not going where I wanted it to go.
“It’s hard not to notice,” I said with a laugh. “You are always with so many girls. There are like a dozen of you together at all times.”
She looked happy.
I guess she did not get talked to much, but that was probably because of her straight-up messy face.
Just then, her phone went off.
She looked at her phone, then said, “Oh crap, I forgot to tell Mom that I would be out for a while, and she’s worried about me.”
She lowered her phone and nervously asked.
“Is it okay? Can I go?”
I looked at her and smiled.
“Ya, of course. Get home. I’ll see you at school.”
She didn’t go yet. She had one more thing to ask.
“C-can we do this again?”
“Yes, of course. You’re fun to be around,” I said.
She looked so happy that I felt a bit guilty.
“Okay, I will see you tomorrow.”
She then left.
I drank the rest of my tea and got up to leave myself.
“Maybe this is fine,” I thought to myself.
For the next two weeks, she was always around me, and we talked a lot.
She always had so much to say.
And she looked so happy.
But then ... the rumors started.
“Is Troy really okay with a girl who looks like that?” whispered one.
“Maybe Troy is into those kinds of girls,” said another.
The whispering did not stop. It kept going.
And eventually I had enough.
One day, while we were walking to school together, she was happily talking to me and was all bubbly.
“And can you believe it? She went and did that,” she said.
I guess she noticed that I was not smiling.
“You okay?” she asked.
“Fine,” I said.
“You can talk to me if you want. I’m a good listener,” she said.
I looked around. There were many students around us making their way toward the school.
And I still kept hearing the whispers.
“Wow, Troy is really dating her,” said one.
“Ya, well, I guess he prefers girls like her. I wonder if he kissed her?” said another.
“Uck, if he did ... then no other girl should kiss him ... so gross,” said a girl who was nearby.
After that, I lost it.
“YOU WANT TO LISTEN TO WHAT I WANT TO SAY?” I yelled at her.
She looked shocked.
“YOU’RE A DAMN UGLY STALKER WHO DOESN’T GET IT!”
She looked at me sadly.
I noticed that there were a bunch of people listening.
I realized that if I just yelled that she was ugly like I was going to, I would look bad.
And Destiny probably would not like me.
So I created some lies.
“YOU’RE ALWAYS BEING CREEPY, ASKING FOR SEX! WE JUST FUCKING MET!”
“W-what?” said April. “What do you—”
I interrupted her.
“I TRIED TO BE NICE AND HELP YOU, BUT YOU KEEP HANGING OUT BY MY DAMN WINDOW!”
She looked like she was going to cry.
Just then, whispers started again.
And they were easy to hear.
“Wow, what a creepy girl,” said one.
“I see now. Makes sense. He was just helping her, not dating her,” said another.
“What a gross girl. She was probably just pretending to be troubled,” said a guy near us.
She looked at me in tears.
Then she ran away.
She stopped coming to school.
I kept getting surrounded by girls again, they were asking if I was okay.
I smiled through it and said I’m fine but thanks.
But after a few more days, I started getting really anxious.
That was too much, I thought to myself.
I needed to apologize and somehow set this right.
But I didn’t know where she lived.
The next day, while I was going through my locker getting my books, Destiny walked up to me.
She stared at me, then asked,
“Is it true? Was she stalking you?”
I finally got to talk to her, but ... this was not how I wanted it.
If I told her the truth, she would probably hate me.
“Yes,” I said.
She sighed.
“I’m sorry for that. She just gets too attached to people and doesn’t understand boundaries,” she said.
I was surprised. Did she actually believe me?
“I hope you don’t hate her. She means well; she’s just a bit much at times,” said Destiny.
I thought about how smoothly this was going.
“It’s okay,” I said. “Thank you for telling me. I did not know she had these kinds of problems.”
“It’s fine,” sighed Destiny.
I then asked her.
“Do you know if she is coming back to school?”
She looked sad. “I don’t know ... she won’t answer me.” She looked at me.
“I hope she’s okay.”
I felt horrible. I created a lie that might have ruined her social life.
“Well, okay. I will see you around,” said Destiny, and she walked away.
As I watched her walk away, I decided I was somehow going to make it up to April.
She did not deserve this, I thought to myself.
However, I never saw her at school anymore.
Destiny and I started hanging out. We went out together with her friends and had great times.
And I finally confessed, but she sadly rejected me.
“Sorry,” she said. “I don’t want a relationship right now.”
That meant she might be okay with it in the future.
It was in grade 11 that April finally came back to school.
At first, I did not recognize her.
Her acne was gone, and she looked really pretty with her hair combed.
But she seemed quieter now, like she didn’t have much to say.
Guys hit on her but she coldly rejected them.
I didn’t want to talk to her with others around.
Finally, after a few days, I managed to get her alone.
“Hey, um, April,” I started. “Do you remember me?”
She looked at me coldly.
“Yes, I do. What do you want?”
I decided to go all the way.
I got on the floor and started apologizing like crazy.
“I’m so sorry. I was just a dumb kid. I got too full of myself. Please forgive me.”
She looked down at me, then knelt down and said,
“It’s fine. I got over it.”
I looked up at her. She was not smiling.
“But it was thanks to you that I decided to take care of my appearance, so thanks.”
She said the last part with a bit of attitude.
After that, we started to hang out together with Destiny.
Eventually, at around age 18, we then met Angel.
Everything went fine, or at least I thought so at the time.
I noticed that she did not smile much, and was pretty quiet.
And it turns out, she never told Destiny what really happened.
I was so grateful for that. I made sure to give her lots of my attention and would buy things for her.
So much that Destiny made a joke that we must be dating.
That was so many years ago, I thought everything was fixed...
But as I experienced last night, it was not.
Not at all.
I turned off the shower and used my towel to dry myself.
Then I walked to my bedroom and lay on my bed.
Do I really deserve to judge her for what she did? I thought to myself.
After a while, somehow my fear faded away a bit.
Probably because...
I started to think I deserved it.
After a while, I finally got to sleep.
The next day, I made my way to school.
As usual, Destiny was waiting for me by the entrance.
And this time, it seemed like April was too.
“Hey, Troy,” said Destiny happily.
“Hi, Destiny. How was last night?” I asked.
“Not so great ... I drank too much and I still feel a bit dizzy,” she said.
“Maybe you should take the day off, or go to the nurse’s office,” April suggested.
April looked at me.
“Ya,” I said, catching on. “Go to the nurse’s office. It would be bad if you passed out in class.”
“Ya ... I think I will,” said Destiny.
“I will walk you there,” said April gently.
But as April was helping Destiny move, she looked at me and said with a smile, “See you later.”
I stood there for a moment.
I did not like the sound of that.
I started making my way to my locker.
As I was putting my bag and belongings into my locker, I started to think.
Is April going to start stuff at school?
School was my only safe space ... Even when I got texts from Jacob, he could not come here.
I took my math books out and made my way toward class.
While I was doing work, April came back in and took her seat.
She looked at me and pointed at her phone then at me.
I was guessing she sent me a text and was trying to show me, but during class...
As I was taking my phone out of my pocket, out of view from the teacher, I noticed that she was still looking at me while smiling.
I looked at my phone and noticed I did have a text ... but it was from Jacob.
I started to read it.
“Hey Troy, make sure you follow April after class. I sent a surprise for you and she was willing to help. Don’t forget and make sure you do EXACTLY what April says, no arguing because I am not there.”
No arguing because he’s not here...
He says that like he’s the boss of me...
Which he basically is, considering I’ve called him master multiple times.
Class ended, even though I hoped it would go on forever.
I would rather hear the teacher’s boring talk than deal with what was coming next.
I followed April out of class and then outside.
We made our way behind a small office that no one uses.
It was small enough that people from certain angles could easily see us.
“All right,” started April. “Jacob grabbed this for you and asked me to deliver it.”
She handed me a box of cupcakes.
“What?” I said, confused.
When did Jacob send presents like this...? Unless...
“A-are these drugged?” I asked nervously.
April looked at me and said, “No! Just open it.”
