Ron Taylor and his wife of only three days were unpacking in their hotel room overlooking the beach. By the merest coincidence they had chosen Bermuda in which to honeymoon and were looking forward to sun and fun on the tourist island as well as some amorous nights alone together. Ron picked up the complimentary copy of the “Bermuda Herald”, the island newspaper. He scanned several items of little interest but one caught his eye.
Tuesday:
Officials reported yesterday that
two women aboard the yacht
Brigitte’s Delight were reported
missing late Sunday night. Karen
Jenkins of 117 Eastland Drive,
Tacoma, WA, a guest, and crew
member Tatia Vasile, no address
given, were reported missing
during a change of watch. It is
speculated that Ms. Jenkins may
have fallen overboard and crew
member Vasile dived in in
an attempt to rescue her.
It is feared both women
have drowned or worse
in the shark infested waters
in which the boat was cruising.
Authorities say the search
will continue, but that little
hope remains of finding
either of the women alive.
“What is it Honey,” asked the lovely wife.
“Uh, just a Lady I met back in Tacoma. It seems she fell off a boat and is missing. They don’t expect to find her alive.”
“Oh, that’s terrible. Were you friends?”
“No, just acquaintances, but she seemed like a very nice lady.”
“Well, there’s a very nice lady here who would like some sun and fun.”
He smiled. “How about a Margarita and a stroll on the beach before dinner?”
“Sounds great. Let’s go.”
He put down the paper and walked over to join his new wife.
Under his breath he whispered, “I’m sorry Karen, you deserved better.”
And with that the two were out the door and about to enjoy a fabulous honeymoon.
