Terence had a lot of bouncing around to do. First, he cornered Mac and said, “Is there any chance we can get your dad to help with a club project we’ve got going?”

“I dunno, maybe,” Mac replied. “What is it?”

“We need him to do his thing with a certain woman – not carry it all the way, just suck her in. You know Poppa Frank, right? Can you hook them up?”

“I’ll give Pop a call,” Mac nodded. “You guys did him up, but he’s happy with the results. He’s basically living with Donna’s mom and it’s a lot more serious than anything he’s ever had with a woman.” He rubbed his belly. “I can’t complain – I’m eating good and I’ve got total access to Donna.”

Next was Damian, and Damian helped him corner Frank Parker. “Hey, Frank,” Damian opened things, “it looks like this Bitch thing is going to fly and they’re calling for experts. Are you and your dad busy?”

Frank thought about it. “Not THAT busy. Who else is on?”

“Me. Lon Carpenter,” Damian replied. “Big Bro, but he’s useless for this kind of thing. He’s probably going to make dungeon stuff, though.”

“What’s the plan?”

“I think your dad was in on the early shit,” Damian replied. “He probably knows a lot already.”

“Sure. I’ll call the old man. When are we getting together?”

“There is a meeting at seven at the clubhouse. We expect to get the go-ahead then and want to gather around seven-thirty.”

“I’ll let him know,” Frank promised.

~#####~ With Toby and Amy there to relay the evidence, the steering committee had little to argue about – even Tina was convinced in short order. The open question was what to do with Camilla after they collected her. Toby’s recommendation was to do an in-depth scan after she was collected and make the call after they had some idea why she was the way she was and whether there was a simple means of altering her behavior or if they would have to go to serious effort to rehabilitate her. That made sense, too, so they got agreement for that. The meeting adjourned quickly and the principals moved on to Poppa Frank’s planning meeting.

Meanwhile, Toby went looking for Tyrone electronically. An attempt to call on his old burn phone revealed that Tyrone’s security needed work – he was still using it.

“Hey, I’m looking for that favor,” Toby announced.

“This who I think it is?” Tyrone replied.

“We gave you Cindy.”

“Okay. I got trouble, too – maybe we can trade,” Tyrone related.

Toby sighed – another complication. “Get another phone. Text the number to...” he gave a number. “We should be secure then.”

“Okay. Um, twenty minutes?” Cindy had access to her mother’s stash of burn phones.

“I’ll be waiting.”

Twenty minutes later, they were talking using new phones. “Tell me about your problem.”

“Cindy’s old man doesn’t like blacks, unless he’s sticking his dick in them. In particular, he thinks he ought to be dicking Cindy and I should be gone. He’s acting on it – he’s got some private detective sniffing around me and my business partners. I smelled it because the PI is ... weird.”

“Weird?”

“Shemale.”

“Oh!”

“I didn’t know that. She – he – whatever – just got my hackles up. Cindy’s momma knows about her, though. She went out and hired a whole team, but that is just likely to drive ol’ Hobart to hire someone else. Word is he don’t quit, and I believe it.”

“What do you want?”

“The girls – Cindy and her momma – say once Hobart sets his sights on you, nothing short of chopping his head off will make you safe. We’re looking for shit, but they’re in trouble, too, now and the shit Cindy’s momma was holding for an insurance policy isn’t enough. We’re looking at all-out war while everybody pretends that nothing is going on.”

“Sounds bad. What about the detective?”

“Well, pretty soon she’s got to tell Hobart she’s being shadowed and fucked with, you know? Then he’ll know WE know and he’ll take steps. Things will get ... unpredictable.”

“Got a plan?”

“Something loose. Cindy to give it up on video, and make it look like rape. Timetable may not fly.”

“I have to get permission to play.”

“What do YOU want?”

“Similar to Cindy and Beverly, except taken farther. Older white chick who is seriously dangerous, but good looking. Total remake, probably like Patty and Simone – but the hard way. You would be just one resource on it. We have a team.”

“You did last time, I figure.” Tyrone grimaced. “You know too much, and I don’t know shit.”

Toby sighed. “We’ll fix that. But, yeah, you’re right. We know even more than you think we do.”

Cold chills ran down Tyrone’s back. “Like what?”

“Like the fact that I find it interesting that you can detect a shemale, since you can only work on women.”

“JESUS FUCKING CHRIST!”

“Did you think you were alone?”

“We gotta meet!”

“Yeah, good plan.” Toby gave him the address of the clubhouse. “Come alone. Otis won’t be any help and the girls ... well, we can invite them all later. This would be a different conversation.”

“Am I in the shit?”

“No, I think you’re past having your learner’s permit. This will probably be about alliances.”

“Awright, I’m coming.”

“Take your time.”

Toby then went to the Bitch Task Force and briefed them. “I’m bringing Tyrone in. Totally.”

Poppa Frank pursed his lips. “That smart?”

“It’s time he was a member, and I already let him know that there is more than just him out there. He also has an issue. Hobart Simpson is apparently a vindictive enemy.”

“So, we’re buyin’ a new problem.” Poppa Frank eyed Tina, then picked up Frank Parker and Lon with his eyes. “We gonna rubber-stamp this? We’ve got a quorum.”

“He’s under better control with us than outside somewhere, especially now that he knows he isn’t alone,” Toby pointed out, mostly for Tina’s benefit. “You wanted better control.”

Tina grimaced. “Fine.”

“Hobart Simpson is now a threat to the club,” Toby noted.

“I get it.” Tina wasn’t happy, but she was beginning to understand how things could happen. “What constitutes a measured response?”

Toby sighed. “There may not be one. Where do you think Cindy got her attitudes? Version one, I mean, not the current version. Tyrone says Hobart is extremely prejudiced – has the ‘white massah’ thing – and he will not stop until he takes down Tyrone, which will also take down Otis. He ALSO has developed an incest thing for Cindy.”

“EWWWWW!!!” Tina made a face.

“This all ties in perfectly with what we know of Hobart from other sources,” Toby added. Looking around, he said, “He’ll be here soon.”

“So will Thornton,” Poppa Frank retorted. “How much do we want HIM to know?”

“Not this, I don’t think,” Toby mused, “although Harmon has his own thing, which is why we’re bringing him in. When you look at it THAT way...”

“Could you explain, please?” Tina asked. She’d thought that Harmon Thornton was a random choice.

“Charmin’ Harmon Thornton has this little power,” Toby explained. “He tends to damp out a woman’s higher mental processes, leaving her more or less in touch with her sexuality and her baser instincts. This has tended to make seduction fairly easy for him.”

“So, he uses this power on women and has sex with them?” Tina queried, aghast.

Toby raised a hand. “Before we go any further with this, I should explain. It’s all unconscious; Harmon has no idea that he has it or he is using it. It is instinctive with him and there is nothing deliberate about it. I should probably ALSO explain that we recently hooked him up with Donna Travers’ mother, who has a sort of complimentary thing going, so he is out of circulation. Last, but not least, one of the secrets to Camilla’s success is that SHE has this thing in some variant. She tends to shut men down and distract them, which makes her scams more effective.” He glanced around at the group. “I’m starting to evolve a theory that says that anyone who seems to be incredibly adept at social interaction may have something extra going for them, whether they know it or not. Most won’t realize it, I think. I also think that this may be caused by the number of social barriers we’ve erected between us as a species in the last hundred years or so.”

Amy spoke up. “It would upset Harmon to tell him that he used unfair means to take advantage of women. He is a gentleman and he would be horrified. I suggest that you not tell him for that reason. Harmon has never meant harm to any woman he was with and it would be difficult to find one who is upset with him, let alone feels as if she has been taken advantage of.”

“So, Harmon shouldn’t know,” Poppa Frank mused.

“I wouldn’t recommend it,” Amy replied.

“Let’s keep the meetings separate, then.”

~#####~ Tyrone Baker drove up to the big old house, wondering if he’d ever been there before. He didn’t remember the house, but the area seemed eerily familiar. It wasn’t something he could put his finger on, however. There was an antique store in a barn nearby, and there were a couple of outbuildings, but nothing leaped out. It was all very vague and general.

The skinny, homely woman who opened the door clearly expected him.

“Come with me,” she said, waving him forward. They entered a library and there were several people there that he recognized, and a few he didn’t.

“Come on in,” Damian Carter invited. “We’ve been waiting.”

“I’ve only got a handle,” Tyrone murmured, eyeing the group. “Who is Rooter93?”

“I am.” Toby Tolliver separated himself from the crowd.

“Okay, what the fuck?” Tyrone rasped. Lon Carpenter was there, and Damian, Frank Parker and what looked like his old man, Toby Tolliver, some chick named Amy something – Winston? – and Tina Bettinger. Clint Reed was there, too, kind of off-side, and there was another older white guy.

“Welcome to the Club,” Tolliver said.

‘Why is Tolliver doing all of the talking?’ Tyrone wondered. He would have expected Frank, maybe, or Lon... “Who is in charge?”

“There is a committee, but that isn’t what you’re asking,” Toby said. “Amy?”

Amy came forward and touched Tyrone’s arm. <Looks can be deceiving. Since you are also a telepath, I can’t transmit to you without touching you, but... > Toby stepped up and took Amy’s hand. <Since I’m male, I couldn’t communicate directly in any case.> Tyrone’s eyes popped. “Two of you?”

“Yes,” Toby took charge. “We’ve been watching you for a while – basically since you tried to drag Bernice in for Otis to play with.” He grinned and Tyrone saw the predator in the otherwise owlish white boy. “We’re why you didn’t succeed.”

Tyrone threw up a shield, but Toby waved it off. “You don’t need that. We’ve been allies for a while. You’re not in trouble, here. We’ve been basically moving in the same direction since the Cindy and Beverly Show – which you handled very well, I might add!”

Tyrone absorbed this. “So now what?”

“So, we want you to become a member and work with us,” Toby replied. “We have a project we need your help with and we’ll help you with Hobart. For one thing, we can read him, so we’ll know EXACTLY what he’s up to. I think you can see the benefit.”

“Just me?” Tyrone asked.

“We normally get some kind of blackmail material on a member to ensure secrecy,” Amy noted, “but we HAVE that for you and Otis and Cindy and Beverly. If we need to go beyond that, I’m sure it’s possible. You have the mothers locked down, right?”

“Yeah,” Tyrone admitted. “How did you know?”

“They’re cooperating,” Toby replied. “We don’t have any direct evidence, but they’re both committed.”

Tyrone nodded. “Otis says Beverly’s old man is cool – we haven’t gotten in deep, but something is up. What do I get out of the deal?”

“A safe place to play, for one thing. Backup for another,” Lon replied.

“What’s this project of yours?”

“My mother,” Clint Reed entered the conversation.

“No shit?”

“You know how Cindy was before, right?” Toby asked. “Clint’s mother Camilla makes her look like a Girl Scout. The woman has been taking down men for twenty years, and she’s totally amoral. She’s a thief and a con artist and she never gives anyone an even break.”

“What’s the plan?”

The easy thing would be just to re-program her like Patty or Simone,” Toby replied, triggering a flinch in Tyrone. “Yeah, I know, we ALL made mistakes while we were learning. She needs to be punished, though, not just turned into a sex object. We would like to do something that fixes her and makes her WANT to atone for her sins.”

“Sounds like some work,” Tyrone opined.

“I agree,” Toby replied. “But if we figure out how, then maybe we can use the same method to re-orient Hobart.”

“Cindy and her momma seem to think that the only way to stop Hobart permanently is to, well, stop Hobart permanently,” Tyrone muttered.

Toby eyed him. “Are you up for that?”

“Well, not really,” Tyrone admitted.

“Makes it harder, though, don’t it?” Poppa Frank announced himself.

“Yeah, it does,” Tyrone agreed. “And Hobart being rich makes it even harder. He’s pretty much...”

“ ... Amoral?” Amy supplied.

“Yeah, probably,” Tyrone agreed.

“Let’s see how bad it is,” Amy suggested.

“How?”

“We just need for Toby and I to come into contact with him, somewhere quiet,” Amy replied. “How tough would that be to arrange?”

“I don’t know,” Tyrone replied. “I don’t know how much time we have, though.”

<Tell me, > Amy beamed at Tyrone, grasping Toby’s wrist. Toby helped her retransmit to everyone in the room as Tyrone related the situation mentally.

Ron Parker frowned. “So, the first thing to do is put a lid on this Delaney Morrison person,” he mused. “We don’t want Hobart wise to the fact that he’s getting any resistance. Anybody got any ideas?”

“We could toss her in the jug with Camilla when we catch her,” Poppa Frank suggested.

“That lacks finesse,” Lon announced. “We want Delaney to tell Hobart that she’s having some difficulty, but not be specific about it – and we want her to tell him she has a plan.”

“How do we do that?” Tyrone asked.

“We give her a plan, and a little push to keep Hobart in the dark,” Toby replied.

“I’m listening,” Tyrone replied.

“Hey, what about the Bitch?” Poppa Frank erupted.
