“Mommy, mommy, mommy, mommy, mommy!” the twins and Wonka came storming in the kitchen with stories of what they had done with Aunt Lucy but foremost on their mind was the fact that they hadn’t fed the chickens and Wonka runs too fast.
While Andi was crouched down talking with the girls, Lucy mouthed the word “Chickens?” to Paul worried they knew about tomorrow’s visit to the cabin. Paul just smiled, shrugged, and prepared to serve a dinner that featured roast chicken, which should allay any suspicions that beans had been spilled.
“Mommy!” called Madeline, “come see the dancin’ girl!”
“She’s so cool!” chirped Sandy, and they grabbed her by the wrist and pulled mommy to the library. As they entered the library, Andi saw a tall, elegant blond and a slim dark-haired man dancing perfectly, even though it was absolutely silent in the room.
“She don’t use music,” said Madeline.
“I see that pumpkin. Who is she?”
The twins shrugged, but Paul came up behind Andi and waved at the dancing couple. They stopped dancing and took the ear buds out of their ears and the tall blond woman stepped over. “You must be Andi,” she gushed. “I’m Veronica and this is my coach Mitch, we use your dance floor for practice. Paul has done nothing but talk about you since he crawled out of the attic.”
Andi was stunned by the breathtaking beauty of the woman. “Yes, I uh ... Paul mentioned that you’re a neighbor?”
“Yes, I live just up Second Street. We should get together before Christmas, maybe meet up at Worzil’s for dinner?”
“What is Worzils?”
Veronica glared at Paul. “You haven’t taken her to Worzil’s yet?”
“We just dug our way out of the snow!”
Dismissing Paul, Veronica said, “Worzil’s is a neighborhood pub on the corner of Main Street, it’s owned by a woman so it has a proper selection of wines.”
“The moment we get a chance,” said Andi. “Life is so full right now with this seminar and visiting friends and pre-wedding classes...”
“I forgot,” gasped Veronica. “Forgive me. Whenever you get a chance, and bring the babies, they’re darling!”
