Chapter 5: Convincing Kitty (Part 2)

Kitty stayed in her room the rest of the afternoon and was silent at dinner, spending more time than usual looking at her phone than engaging in dinnertime conversation. Henry began to worry that he had seriously damaged his relationship with his daughter.

Henry and Kitty were both habitual early risers and often ate breakfast together while Jenna still was sleeping. The morning after the walk, Kitty came down and met Henry at the breakfast table. She poured herself a glass of juice and said:

“Dad, are you sure there is no other way to get money to save the restaurant?”

“Sweetie, I tried everything I could to raise money. If there was another way, I would jump at it. I don’t like this any more than you do. But I don’t know what else to do.”

“Dad, I have a few more questions, so bear with me. First of all, who will see this video if we make it?”

“Kitty, I honestly don’t know. Men who look at porn could come across it at some point. There are a lot of videos out there on the internet, so it is not likely that someone we know here in the Hamptons will stumble across it. But you know there is always a chance, no matter how small, that someone we know will see it. I am afraid that is a chance we will have to take.”

“My second question is this: You know that I have taken a chastity vow. I don’t want to break it. Is there anything in this movie that will do that?”

“Sweetie, I am so glad that you have made that pledge and nothing you do in the video will change that. I don’t think that doing things, like in the video you saw, violates your pledge to remain a virgin. You don’t consider ‘jilling off’ to violate the pledge do you?”

“Honestly no, Dad.”

“So, doing that, jilling off, with another person wouldn’t violate your pledge either, would it.”

“No, I guess not. I know some girls at school also took the pledge and who have jilled with other girls. I haven’t (to answer that question you asked me yesterday), but I guess doing jilling with someone else isn’t any different than doing it myself.”

“Your Mom wouldn’t ever do anything to hurt you or make you break your pledge either, and she will be the only one involved in this.”

“Dad, that brings me to the next question. Who is going to film this – that German talking guy? And will you be there in the room too?”

“Sweetie, the porn producer I met is American and he will be the one who does the filming on a video camera. But I thought I should be there too, to chaperon and stop things if they are not going as he promised. I want to be there to protect you. But if you are embarrassed about me being there, I can understand and I can just wait in the next room and enter if you call me for help. It is wholly up to you and Mom.”
