Chapter 54

The knock at the door had you worried.

Everything that had happened with Margot had been ... a little wild. No, not a little, a lot wild.

And concerning.

You kind of felt like you’d cheated on April, seeing another woman naked. Seeing your friend naked. Except you also knew that April apparently knew about it ahead of time and it had been part of a game. So was she going to be mad about it? Was it going to cause problems? Probably not; everything you knew about her didn’t make you think she’d be weird about you not really having a choice in the whole thing.

But you were also new to this whole relationship thing and could be wrong. You often felt like you didn’t know what you didn’t know, which was a scary spot to be in.

So when the knock came, not too long after Margot left, you got back up from the couch and approached the door cautiously, peeking through the peephole before opening it. You sighed as you saw April and Zara, both fully clothed, smiling and waiting expectantly.

“Hey, baby,” April said, smiling with just a touch of nervousness as you opened the door.

“What’s up, Stud?” Zara asked. She moved past April and gave you a kiss on the cheek and a smack on the ass as she entered your apartment. “Margot’s got a fucking rack on her, huh?”

“Zara,” April scoffed.

“Hi, April,” you said, shaking your head and ignoring Zara’s crude comment. You reached out and April met you, joining hands as you drew her into your apartment and then into your arms, hugging her tightly. “You OK?” you murmured in concern.

“Are you OK?” she asked instead of answering.

“It was a little weird, and a little wild. I definitely didn’t think I’d ever see- Well, yeah. But I’m fine. Are you?”

She sighed, hugging you tighter. “Just a little jealous, maybe,” she said.

“Should I talk to her, or them?” you asked. “Ask them to tone it down?”

“No, no,” she shook her head. “It was all a game, and I do feel way closer to the three most important women in your life.”
