Chapter 23

Young Adult Sex Story: Chapter 23 - Austin is moving in with his Grandma Montgomery, who he doesn’t know and isn’t sure if she wants him. But he has no choice since his dad has remarried, and his mom is wrapped up in a new love and doesn’t want him to live with her. The only thing that gives him hope is that his grandmother has agreed to allow him to bring his horse and bought him a puppy. The one bright spot is that Austin meets a group of teens who start a group called Club DTF.

When Austin arrived home, he found his mom waiting for him.

“I’m going into DC for work, and then I’ll pick up your dad and his new family at the airport. I’ll be gone about four hours.”

“Okay.”

“While I’m gone, I made a reading list for you to complete. Since your grandmother decided to hire someone to do the hedge work, it’s time we start getting you ready for the fall,” Marie said.

Austin looked at the list and the stack of books.

- Algebra II
- Chemistry
- World History
- English Literature and Composition
- Spanish
- Speech and Debate

He knew that, at a minimum, he needed to read the first chapter of each book and answer the questions at the end. His mom would want to quiz him about it when she got back. He should knock all that out in an hour. What could he possibly do for the remaining three hours? Simone came to mind.

Then Austin had a thought.

His dad would rent a car; he wouldn’t want to be stranded at his ex-mother-in-law’s house, relying on his ex-wife to loan him her car. Austin’s clever mother was setting a trap. He figured he had about an hour and a half before she turned up.

Maybe he would read the first four chapters of each and earn some brownie points.

Two and a half hours later, Max warned him someone was coming. Austin had six notebooks with his notes spread out on the kitchen table as he feigned intense study.

When he felt a headache coming on, he decided three chapters of each book were enough. But he was ready when his mom walked in.

Austin looked at her, confused.

“Where’s Dad?”

“He elected to rent a car, so I didn’t have to go to the airport.”

“That was thoughtful of him,” Austin said with a smile. “I did three chapters of each. Do you want to check my work?”

“Did you have trouble with any of it?”

“No, all good.”

“Then I’ll take your word for it. I’m going to go up and check on everyone’s rooms. I’m sure Emma got them ready, but I don’t need your dad complaining,” Marie said.

Austin bit his tongue because it was his mom who complained if something wasn’t perfect. His dad grew up on horseback, and any bed was a luxury when you were out herding cattle. His mom didn’t want his new stepmom and stepsisters to find anything amiss.

He knew if anyone would complain, it would be Ruby, the elder of his two stepsisters. Based on their past interactions, she’d want to kick Austin out of his room and make him sleep in the stables. He might do just that to keep away from her.

“Need help? We could short-sheet Lucy and Ruby’s beds for a fun ‘Welcome to Virginia’ prank,” Austin offered.

“I could use another set of eyes. While we do that, you can tell me about the celebrity you’re teaching to ride. Your grandmother’s going to want gossip to share at the club.”

If he knew Grandma Montgomery—and he did—she and her group of old hens already knew everything. It was his mom who wanted something to share.

Right before Austin’s dad was due to arrive, Charlie Tanner—his mom’s new/old boyfriend—and his grandmother showed up.

His mom left for a while and returned with a cake box, which Austin assumed was for his birthday. She sent him to her car, where he found two traditional Virginia desserts: jam fritters and buttermilk chess pie.

He asked his grandmother why they called it ‘chess’ pie. She explained it was made with whatever was in your chest or pantry. The name became ‘chess’ because of the Southern accent. It was a custard pie but made with buttermilk instead of lemon and milk to give it that tart taste.

Max, who considered himself the official greeter, ran to the back door to alert Austin that his dad had arrived. Austin waited until his dad parked before opening the door for Max to do his duties.

Austin stood back as his dad and his dad’s new family exited the car. Ruby’s body language told him she was in a foul mood.

“Looks like someone fell into it. From living over a barn to this? Who did you have to bone to get this?”

“Ruby,” Iris, Austin’s stepmom, hissed. “We talked about this.”

“Oh, that’s right. We came because Austin can’t keep his dick in his pants.”

Austin’s eyes locked with his dad’s. It seemed neither his mother nor father could keep their mouth shut.

“Glad to see your mouth keeps running. At some point, you’ll have to take a hard look at yourself. You’ll figure out that if no one wants to hang out with you ... you might be the problem,” Austin said.

A laugh escaped Lucy, earning her a glare from Ruby. His dad and stepmom looked like they needed a drink.

“Come on, Max, let’s go check on the horses,” Austin said.

He’d be damned if he would help them carry in their bags. It would be best if he were left alone for a while, anyway. He didn’t need everyone to hear his opinion about his dad telling everybody, and if Austin stuck around, they would. And Ruby ... if she kept it up, he might toss her through a wall.

Max had established himself as king of the stables now that the troublesome cat had been taken away. The dog kept himself busy ensuring the other cats understood who was boss while Austin took each horse out and groomed them. It wasn’t as if he didn’t take care of the horses, anyway; he was just killing time before bedtime.

He was brushing Storm when his grandmother came out.

“I take it Ruby was the one who took your bedroom back in Texas.”

Austin didn’t say anything. What was the point? In a few days, the visitors would return to the Houstons’ ranch, and he wouldn’t have to deal with any of them.

“Your mother sent me out to have you come inside. She wants to serve dessert.”

“Tell them to go ahead. I still have six more horses to groom.”

His grandmother actually gave him an eye-roll.

“You’re as stubborn as your mother,” Grandma Montgomery quipped. “I’ll let you in on a little secret: Ruby’s looking for attention. If you stay out here sulking, she’ll think she’s won. Are you really going to let that happen?”

Oh, his grandmother was good. In the past, that would have worked, but Austin was over it. At that point, there was nothing in the world that mattered less to him than what Ruby believed.

“She can think whatever she wants.”

His grandmother looked satisfied.

“Now we’re getting to the root of the matter. Ruby irritates you, but you’re pissed at your mom and dad.”

“Still not coming in. I have work to do.”

“Do I have to hire a hand? Because it shouldn’t take you until this hour to take care of the horses,” Grandma Montgomery said.

“No ... well, yes ... you’ll need to hire someone when I go to school, but this can wait until tomorrow,” Austin said, caving to his grandmother.

He called Max, and the three of them strolled to the house.
